The end of Mariah (98,778) by Vítor Henrique Pereira from Brazil If you agree that the I industry is unfair to veteran artists, regardless of being legends, you breathe. No tea, no shade, Adele, though, released a single, the album is coming, and she has already broken all possible records with a song, which is beautiful, the lyrics are strong and deserves success - and that's all yep. However, I saw a lot of people already making jokes that she has been singing the same song since 2011, and in fact, all the artistic elements of her releases, whether music or music videos, follow the same pattern. And what do you say about Mariah? "Twentieth attempt at We Belong Together", "Another clip lying down caressing her body" and so on. Mariah has, indeed, her pattern, and not because I'm a fan, but artistically, I think she outclasses in terms of compositions, arrangements, and even within these cited patterns, she still seeks to innovate somehow, and even then, unfortunately, no longer makes the same splash as Adele and her "more of the same". We can still say that Adele is still closer to Mariah musically, in addition to her lyrics talking about love, the romanticism of her songs, and in this parallel both should be on the same level of success today, but Mariah is already saturated for the industry and consumers younger music players don't "want her anymore". It's no use saying that such an album was poorly worked, that the single was poorly publicized, that the record company or Mariah is to blame, no, it's nobody's fault, this is the time that is cruel to any artist. Adele and Mariah, both with their "more of the same" and their standards, but only one of them still "gets there". (Wednesday 20 October 2021; 03:43)

She's got the industry machine right behind her that's why they always want to make it such an "event". I truly don't care for her music and only have a few of her songs on my playlist. The voice makes me feel anxious. Those two performances are written into music history and should make your heart cry. If they do not, it does not beat. Go easy on Mariah (98,765) by T from USA After reading her memoirs and now hearing Easy On Me I realize just how much the song fits Mariahs story too. She was just a child. A song like this after the breakdown, maybe the first single on Charmbracelet would have killed. It asks for forgiveness while still explaining her point of view. Good song. But a whispered With You type ballad won't cut it. Something like Easy On Me which asks forgiveness may not burn up the top 40 charts for Mimi but it would still find an audience and move album units. I would love to hear her and Walter Afanasieff after all these years create a timeless classical piece. (Sunday 17 October 2021; 13:31)

The original discussion about Adele/Easy On Me was a side note "what do people think" rather than comparing it against anything Mariah has ever done. To that end, a bunch of people here said it's boring because it's the same piano-led ballad she's been churning out since she started. Comparisons then shifted to Mariah, who did actually take many creative risks and pushed the boundary with her music (Dreamlover club mix, Fantasy remix, making a Christmas album when no one else was, integrating hip-hop into pop music etc.) I, and many here, have criticised Mariah in the past for releasing variants of We Belong Together since 2005. No one wants to hear another staccato style ballad from her with a key change and long note at the end. Yet, she insists on putting one on every album. So, yes, had Mariah released Easy On Me I would be going nuts and praising her, because it's not something she's done as a lead single since records began. As for Adele releasing it, no, I'm not going to praise something that was exactly what I thought it would be. I don't think anybody is envious of the universal praise Adele gets either. Mariah had her day in the sun and will always be in the history books and a reference/example for others that come along. As will Adele to be fair. I think the point is people are scratching their heads around why Adele is getting praise for putting out the 5th version of Someone Like You. (Sunday 17 October 2021; 10:36)

I honestly feel the song that did it for everybody was Someone Like You. Radio played that song so much. People just related to her heart felt lyrics of rejection, heartache, pain, and hey I am moving on. Adele is not a diva. She is the Pop's songstress as Anita Baker is R&B's songstress. All people can say for MC now is that she is queen of Christmas. But I believe that she has gotten all of the memos and is ready to make her comeback in 2022. (Sunday 17 October 2021; 09:29)

Re: Easy on me (98,752) (98,761) by Shezz from Pk I agree with both sides of the Adele debate here. Yes, it sounds like it could have come from any of her previous 3 albums. Nothing fresh and yes not as memorable or strong as Rolling in the Deep or Hello. I even prefer Chasing Pavements as a lead single. But it is vintage, signature, unmistakable Adele. She has a style and a "formula" for lack of a better word that the world absolutely adores. She'd be crazy to ditch it. If she were releasing an album a year like Mariah did in the 90s then she'd be in trouble (kudos to Mariah though to bring a new, fresh and evolving sound with every 90s album). But she's smart and really spaces her albums well. And yes, if Mariah were to put out a single like Easy On Me - a simple, straightforward, melodious, singable lead song with solid vocals, we would all be doing cartwheels. I know I would. I don't know why she needs to muddle her songs with complex production and counter melodies to the extent where the general public or even most lambs can't sing along. Though I don't think she would have a fraction of the success now as Adele even with Adele's material. Her time in the sun is over and I really do appreciate her still putting out albums knowing only her core base will acknowledge and appreciate them. Don't diss the seasonal love she still gets when the world forgets they can't stand her and come together to revel in the joyful masterpiece that is All I Want for Christmas Is You. Holiday music vs. Adele (98,759) by Bobby A from United States A journalist has hinted at Ed Sheeran will compete with Adele even during her release week of November 19th. She quickly shot down that she has something to worry about. She probably is right since his = album comes out on October 29th. One thing true is that she is definitely going to take away some holiday music sales from November 19th through December 15th. Maybe MC has scrapped her plans for any new holiday music or project. It is very odd that she hasn't made the big announcement before now or hyped up that she has a new holiday song coming. Only time will tell. (Sunday 17 October 2021; 03:41)

Why I worry Mariah has lost the plot is because in the old days she would have never put a Cannon inspired diss track side by side with her greatest accomplishments. Who heard that track and approved it? Who even thought it was good? She literally could have put All I Live For or Out Here On My Own in its place and it would have been 100x the quality of Infinity. Each album would of been more appealing to the general public. I'm not a fan of either one, and personally I'm not into greatest hits or any sort of compilations that artists release. Re: Easy on me (98,754) (98,755) by Will from England Thumbs up, because what Adele manages to now which Mariah used to do, is create a personal, emotionally driven song but keeps it open lyrically so other people can flip it onto their own lives - which is part of the enduring appeal of Adele, the gp know that they can go to her for the heart-wrenching lyrics or the sassy kiss-off ones. Mariah used to be perfect at that (Close My Eyes, Outside, Bye Bye being the real last open ended song), and yet her work now is more centred and focused on her life that it makes it difficult to relate to - am I wrong in saying this? And yes, she had a formula in the 90s, dropped it, found a new one with WBT and tried to replicate it many times until Caution, which truly seemed to be more growth from her. Also, I get the feeling that sometimes Mariah overthinks the song and over complicates it with too much going on (In The Mix, Infinity, Save The Day, Runway), whilst Adele's latest offering is straight forward and delivers what it is supposed to, whilst throwing in some vocal gymnastics - following the same formula since she knows that's what works well for her. I would not be surprised that once 30 has been finished with, her next lead single is an uptempo one like RITD. Caution was a step in the right direction for Mariah, and I hope she continues down this route, but learnt that using a lead single as a ballad isn't the right move for her right now.
