WIB radio request day April 13 (97,763) by T from USA
I know it's a long shot because of ageism, a dwindling fan base, etc but maybe all the lambs should banned together and request WIB at rhythmic radio the day it goes for adds April 13th. A hip hop collab might actually get some traction. With a mild radio hit Mariah could actually leverage for better bargaining on her next project. WIB might actually open a little crack in the door if it slowly takes off a bit at radio. It will be a lot easier to call urban and rhythmic and request the new Busta joint then it will be requesting the next Mariah single (especially if it sounds anything like With You). I don't want Mariah to end up like some of her peers regarding radio. What do you say? One last old fashioned radio request day April 13 to give Where I Belong the best chance at a good start.

Re: Andrew's one trick pony (97,761) (97,762) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
It's the "visual" too like tricking people to buy something by writing "19.99" instead of "20$". Old marketing trick makes you think you're paying less. Similarly being born in 1969 will make Mariah a "60's" baby, versus 1970 makes her a "70's" baby. So she sounds "younger". I don't know if my point is coming across properly. But this is very common. And like I said previously it's something most women face, ageism and the burden to be "young". So I can only imagine how much it matters in the glamour world of Hollywood where women have a shelf life.

I still don't get it. Of course the media has youth-madness. But where's the diffrence between the best new singer (the one and only Mariah) at age 20 or 21 with the debut. It's ridiculous. One year is nothing, it makes no sense to me.

Andrew's one trick pony (97,760) by Nikki from usa
Mariah's "eternally 12" has to do with her trauma, not her age. She's been saying this since her 20's. Which is just as long as her "anniversaries" which has to do with combating ageism, not just a singular year.

I hate to break it to you, Andrew, but the music industry's PR has always tried to make their stars as young as conceivable. They are well aware of ageism in the industry. When Eminem came out they passed him off as 25 instead of 27. Nicki Minaj was passed off as 24 at 28. J.Lo was also promoted to be 28 when she was 30. Most of their true ages weren't revealed until they were arrested. Others came out in time and nobody noticed. They just started printing the right age.

Mariah was hired during a time period when women were considered "over" the moment they hit 30. If a woman was still riding a fame wave when that happened than her days were considered "numbered". You can ask Madonna all about that struggle. This is why many singers turned actress. An actress could still have a career in her 30's. They mix and match those careers for longevity.

Re: Best opening line (97,757) (97,759) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
That is one of my favorite interview quotes from her. When I heard her say it I was like "damn girl, she's spitting fire" and rightfully so. She must have felt so vindicated with the comeback. (I know she hates the word "comeback" haha.)

Re: Epic vs Def Jam for Mariah? (97,754) (97,758) by Nikki from usa
Mariah didn't have a choice to stay at Universal. They didn't offer her another contract. She had a 3 album deal with Epic. She's only released 1 album of new music, so she still has 2 more albums of original music to go. One of the perks of returning to an old label at this stage in her career is the compilations she can release and have control over.

By recording a new version, she can have full rights over it. She would own the masters to this version instead of Universal getting paid for it.

I love that. I remember when Barbara Walters asked her what she thought of her critics that counted her out. She's like well if they counted me out, they'll just have to count me back in. Iconic is right.

I am riding home in pain again babe. But that don't mean s**t to you. I love the opening of "One and Only". Luis must have been doing some crazy things behind MC's back.

"I came to have a party." Iconic because she came back guns blazing after she was completely written off.

Her "We Belong Together - Late Night Valentine's Mix" was released through Tunecore, which is an independent artist release site. So is she indie now, or still with Sony?

What's the best opening line to a Mariah Carey song? The one that started it all, "Treated me kind."

Epic vs Def Jam for Mariah? (97,751) by T from USA
Label question, currently which is the better label Epic or Island/Def Jam? Should have Mariah stayed with Universal or was the move back to Sony the smart one? (Probably for building her legacy artist status the Sony More was the right one?)

I think Kris does her bigger appearances. This makeup artist is I'm guessing more for her day to day makeup/smaller appearances. Kris was at Mariah's anniversary celebrations.

New late night Mimi session? (97,746) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So there's this photo that was shared by Mariah's makeup artist showing that she was working late night and there's a whole set up. I then saw another rumor on an instagram page that she recorded new versions of "Breakdown", "The roof" and WBT for this session. I don't know how true this second rumor is. She just released a whole new version of WBT, so I would have preferred another song, but definitely here for "Breakdown" and "The roof". Two of my most favorite MC songs. I would've also loved "Babydoll". Such a masterpiece. "Butterfly" hands down is one of the most beautifully crafted albums in musical history.

Re: Song of the summer (97,742) (97,745) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I don't know if it's just me but I prefer the "Candy" version of "Loverboy" over the "Firecracker" one. I am glad we got to hear the "Firecracker" version though since it's the basis of one of the biggest feuds in musical history. Big fan of "With You" though. I think the song is beautiful, has a lot of replay value. She looked gorgeous in the video but the video didn't have a lot of replay value outside of her fans. Not a strong first single though. I wish she'd kick of the era with "A No No" and gotten a hot feature for the remix. ANN would have been an amazing first single.

Haha I forgot if it's not in Andrew's "line of logic" it's bollocks, delusional, stupid. Noted. I stand by my opinion though. Here's to more future banter and the rare occasions when we're on the same page.

With You and OHOMO are two of the best songs she has ever done. I listen to them over and over as it is to me as if Mariah is reborn. Loverboy Firecracker is gold. Everything else is dated. But my Mariah is in those songs. Like from out of a dream. And I'm this dream, there was a major diva in the wings.

For me, "I'll be lovin' you long time". Such a missed opportunity. Or "I'm that Chick". I used to be such a "Migrate" girl before but oh well.
