RIAA Diamond certifications (96,962)
by Terna from Nigeria

This is crazy in a good way. Haha. In no time Mariah is actually gonna have 4 diamond albums. Her debut album is so close to that diamond status and deservedly so and now "Merry Christmas" as well, it may even reach it before the debut.

I confess this stuff confuses me a bit so apologies if I have misunderstood it. So Merry Christmas has jumped 2 million in just over 1 year since its last certification.
8x Multi-Platinum - December 14, 2020 6x Multi-Platinum - October 1, 2019
The mind boggles where this album could be in 5-10 years time if it continues to add approximately 2 million each year. Logically it will realistically be Mariah's third diamond album next year as AIWFCIY seems to be proving even more popular this year than it did last and sooner, thereby extending its peak for a long period.
Same with AIWFCIY: 8x Multi-Platinum - December 14, 2020 6x Multi-Platinum - October 9, 2019
I would have thought she'd crack a 10 million selling next year as well.

Mariah now has 68.5 million RIAA certified, tied with Streisand. Here is the link for the RIAA.

Does anyone know why MTV Unplugged is excluded from Mariah's album tally?

That is great - doesn't that mean Mariah with 66.5 million units certified is now just two million short of Streisand?
As "AIWFC" is a guaranteed hit for the remainder of time and will keep adding to MC's tally, it seems inevitable that Mariah will eventually overtake Streisand and become the top selling certified female in the US, which would have seemed impossible a few years ago with the collapse in album sales.
What an achievement and way to end 2020!

Merry Christmas and AIWFC RIAA certifications (96,955)
by Horacio from United States
| |
|

Both Merry Christmas and "All I Want For Christmas" have been certified 8x Platinum in the US by the RIAA. In doing so, MC's first Christmas albums surpasses The Emancipation of Mimi to become Mariah's 4th highest certified album in the US. Merry Christmas' previous RIAA certification was 6x platinum. Current top 5 standings:
Daydream - 10x Platinum Music Box - 10x Platinum Mariah Carey - 9x Platinum Merry Christmas - 8x Platinum The Emancipation of Mimi - 6x Platinum

MC is ending 2020 on a very high note. Is it safe to say that AIWFCIY will hit #1 every year. I wouldn't be surprised if a new version is released with a very popular male singer in 2021 to keep the momentum going. Way to go MC.

In my mind this and the Apple special are both gems, but wanted to show some appreciation to the 2015 special (which is on Netflix btw). What I like most about it is the live/lounge setting and the ensembles. And of course the opening salvo which was God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.

Well, I will not write anything funny to make you laugh, lol. I'll leave that to Andy. I'm sure he's up to the challenge. Stinks you had to be hospitalized. My hubby was in the hospital twice. He hated every minute. But his oxygen levels kept dropping below 90. Glad to hear you are on the mend.

I just realised how confusing my message was, what I should have said is: Do the versions appearing in stores throughout the United States and Canada say "Made in EU" or are they saying "Made in US"? Thanks!

Very low streaming and no airplay. Unfortunately sales used to be king but these days they don't account for much. In Mariah's case they help her a bit because her audience tends to be older so streaming is harder for her.

Ouch sorry Edward. I'd throw some light hearted shade your way but I can't. After my husband's fight with Covid, I know first hand how serious this virus is. I wish you nothing but a speedy recovery. My hubby is still very fatigued, over a month after his initial diagnosis. Best wishes.

AIWFCIY is #1 on Billboard Hot 100 for this coming Friday. Oh Santa! debuts at #76. At this point, I am completely befuddled on how they are working their charts nowadays. It says that Oh Santa! is #3 Digital Song Sale overall, so how could it only be #76 on Hot 100? SMH.

MC30 vinyl, EU or US (or are they the same)? (96,940)
by JordanL from Australia
| |
|
|
Hey everyone. My first post here and I'm hoping someone can help me out. I've always collected Mariah's Australian releases over the years, which is where I live, but now that she's got the new vinyl collection out and nowadays goods pressed from a certain country have really gone out the window, I'm wanting to get all of these but I'm wondering if I should buy the EU version or the US version, or are they the same? Stores locally aren't selling the vinyls in store, they're online only so I still haven't physically seen them yet.
