Butterfly's cover will always be the eyes closed version for me. As Andrew said, this was used for the first pressing in the UK, and it is beautiful and so much more elegant than the eyes open version.

Thou art true, squire. The spinning-around-eyes-closed Butterfly image is absolutely amazing and was actually the cover of the first releases in the UK. I bought it. My brother stole it and took it with him to University. I had to go and buy the CD with the Mariah-looking-bored cover. I subsequently killed him.

You want "pain" to be "expressed" at your funeral? So assuming everyone goes to your funeral upset enough already, you programme the thing to make them feel even worse? Nice.
Why would you not want something uplifting and comforting played at your funeral? What a way to go, making everyone even more depressed. Play this and remind yourself and everyone around you that life isn't all that bad. It's always darkest before the dawn.

Emphasis on "sound like". Haha. I guess everybody cares differently? Well, if anything, even with 1 1/2 responses into your ranking as of this reply, I think we have a fairly clear idea which Mariah covers are better than the others.

CB tour (93,961)

I remember it like it was yesterday, September 18, 2003. The Charmbracelet tour came to New York, and rocked Radio City Music Hall. I have to say that this night was loads of fun, and Mariah was amazing, it is a night that I will never forget. Overall the CB tour is one of the best tours of Mariah's career.

While not an album I visit often, the Charmbracelet World Tour was one of my favorite tours that I was able to attend. I enjoyed the creativity. I particularly liked the live versions of Subtle Invitation and Bringing on the Heartbreak.

I feel the same. I have my own ranking as to which album is better or worse than the others, but that doesn't influence my listening habits, not even in the slightest. I personally either let my mood, the weather, time of day, or even the album running time to be the deciding factor. I never listen to Charmbracelet in the morning. Too warm and mellow. Maybe a few of its songs, but not in its entirety.

Everyone's Mariah journey is different. The wildly varying tastes and preferences in this board alone give us a good idea that there will always be a Mariah record for everyone who's willing to give her a chance. At its worst, Charmbracelet hitting top 5 is practically equivalent to a warrior exposing his weakness for everyone to see, and the likelihood of that is quite high. But at its best, it just may get to be the final push for a few potential/future lambs out there to finally dive into her discography. Either way is still realistic.

1. Merry Christmas 2. Daydream 3. No.1's 4. Butterfly 5. The Emancipation of Mimi 6. Merry Christmas II You 7. E=MC2 8. Charmbracelet 9. Emotions 10. MTV Unplugged EP 11. Me. I am Mariah. The Elusive Chanteuse. 12. Glitter 13. Caution 14. The Remixes 15. Greatest Hits 16. Mariah Carey 17. Music Box 18. Rainbow 19. No.1's to Infinity 20. Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel
What's the bet William got to No.2 and had rewritten the whole thing in his head already.
My favorite photo of Mariah is the white top twisty thing in front of the clouds, for Thank God I Found You. Now *that* should have been the cover for Rainbow.

"[I]f anyone out there unfamiliar of her discography just buys it out of curiosity thanks to this #justicefor campaign and still wants to continue discovering the rest of her work after listening to it, then that's still a win."
I think that's clutching at straws. A lot of people will decide to stream it or perhaps buy it based upon its chart position, realise its pap where she hums her way through songs that have little in the way of beat or memorable melody and, as a result, not move on to the rest of her catalogue. This is not music that is remotely like anything that is popular or selling today.
Much better for the #justice4 campaigns to promote Greatest Hits. It is a compilation that did terribly upon release (something I don't think the cover photography helped with), and will open people up to every single, not just the No.1's. But then it's very easy for me to criticise something with which I had nothing to do.
