Re: Charmbracelet singles (92,334) (92,336) by Licia from USA
I've been going to Waffle House my whole life and I have never gotten the waffles. They look disappointing. Lol.

Twat waffle was the nicest thing I could come up with. Before boobgate he just always came off too cocky to me. I'll never ever deny his talent, but personality wise I was never for him. Boobgate just gave me more of a reason to dislike him. If the rumor was true that he didn't work with Mariah on Yours because he felt she was a has been, that really put the nail in the coffin. Even at her lowest point she was still a legend and you don't disrespect a legend like that .

Twat waffle though? By the way, I had my first Waffle House waffle while working in Cincinnati for a week. Those waffles are truly trash. JT has always been meh IMO. Even before boobgate.

Well I wasn't speaking for, or about that one. I was however, referring to my own skepticism and for a few others who have expressed concern from the get go.

Re: Important recordings (92,329) (92,331) by Bill from the UK
Thank you everybody for your replies. I did of course consider We Belong Together, however, I felt the other three brought about industry and generational changes to music. Those of you who weren't around in the early 90s need to understand that (caps) nobody (end caps) had ever sung the way Mariah did before. Sure Minnie had her whistles and Aretha had her runs, but neither really used them to good musical effect like Mariah did. Now every female singer post-Mariah mimicks her style. AIWFCIY is self explanatory really, and Fantasy Remix because again, it was so left field and had never, ever been done on that scale before. Remember again where we were at the time. This was the balladeer, who sang about heroes in long black dresses, married to the boss of Sony, duetting with ODB from Wu Tang. It was an incredible, never to be matched, genius stroke that shaped pop music for the future right there and then. After those three songs, things would never be the same.

Re: Geek alert: UK singles ranking (92,324) (92,330) by Bill from the UK
It was ready for release, but was pulled at the last minute because of nervousness around how the UK audience would react to it, what with it being her most heavy R&B/hip hop flavoured number at that point in time.

Re: Important recordings (92,315) (92,329) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I'd say that's pretty accurate. I'd add We Belong Together in there, though. Nothing in 2005 sounded like it, and after its release there would be a whole lot of WBT-style tracks released. (I Belong To Me by Jessica Simpson, Take A Bow by Rihanna, all of the inferior WBT sequels and clones from Mariah herself, and a good amount of Ne-yo's discography. Even J.Lo tried to have her own with Wrong When You're Gone.)

I'd also probably add even Breakdown if only for the fact that this track is one of the most praised Mariah songs ever that even non-Mariah fans love it, which is even more impressive considering it practically is a deep cut.

Re: Mariah (92,326) (92,328) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Okay slow down there - Rare only dropped last Friday, so that would leave it a few more days before sales will officially be counted. As of early projections it's expected to debut at #1 with around 50-55k in pure sales and a possibly larger number in streaming and digital sales on top of that. Selena is a popular artist with a #1 lead song, but she's also one of those whose popularity and singles success doesn't necessarily translate into album sales. Sonically though, Rare is actually quite good. It's almost universally praised by critics. Funny how out of her, Miley and Demi, she technically has the weakest voice but is still the strongest artist.

Re: Mariah (92,326) (92,327) by We are Lambily from USA
She sold more than around 7-8 thousands than Mariah. Sorry. And I [sic] been listening for hours now, it's Mariah's new team biggest mistake not including it. Such a [sic] inspiring song.

Mariah (92,326) by We are Lambily from USA
It's crazy that one of music biggest stars (Selena Gomes) today sold less than 10 thousands than what Caution sold in pure sales. Even though she had a #1 hit. I honestly couldn't care about sales as I'm listening now. Whatever Mariah has to offer, I'm buying.

Re: Bill / Migrate (92,297) (92,325) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
There was an interview (I do not remember which one) where she was asked about Migrate being a follow up second single after TMB and Mariah clearly says something along the lines of "of course not, it is definitely not going to be a single". She was confident about it and from her tone in agreement with the decision of not releasing it. When Mariah wants something to be a single and doesn't get it her way she usually makes it a point to show she wasn't in agreement with the snub, for example her complaining about not being able to release "The One" instead of "Boy".

Infinity is definitely better Yummy, Justin was lucky those girls did that amazing video for him. Sad how generic songs have become. He better have some songs with some substance. I go and play some MOIA to clean my head

Ribbon, one of my favs but I have to disagree. It's very follow the leader on the board sometimes so the same bitter privileged girls on the board start their trolling because they obviously are so unhappy with their lives. My advice to those girls, find a real career. I mean now we are calling books that aren't even out until third quarter flops over a title that obviously went way over their head (simple b.t@&e$). It's a book, is it really that deep? Let it flip flop and disappoint I say so the girls can rant. Muah.

Re: Important recordings (92,315) (92,321) by enwar00 from usa
Bill I think We Belong Together should be on that list. What a colossal career redefining moment it was. Without that hitting the way it did 15 years into her career, I don't think we would have just experienced these recent records being broken 15 years later.

Re: Charmbracelet singles (92,310) (92,320) by 123 from USA
Here in the States You Got Me should have led the album. Ballads out of style and songs like Fat Joes's What's Luv (uptempo hip hop records with r and b hooks) was pouring out of the radio. Plus she had Jay Z on the song. I remember it was one of the songs playing on her website. Clown should have been the second single to build on the controversy of her and Obsessed short lived fling. They could have went with the One or Sorry You Had You're Chance as the third and final singles. Overseas they got it right with Through the Rain and Bringing On The Heartbreak were both pop ballads. Then they could have finished with Yours.

No three singles are more defining. I'd note an honorable mention to WBT, however.

You're an obsessive weirdo. I say I like Justin's new song and you go off on such a tangent you've lost your head up your arse. Nobody was talking to you. I like Mariah Carey, I like GTFO and With You. I listen to Mariah daily. Why don't you get a life and stop obsessing over me? Lmao. Pray for yourself.

Important recordings (92,315) by Bill from the UK
As an aside, is anyone in disagreement that the three most important recordings Mariah ever made are:

1. Vision of Love
2. All I Want for Christmas Is You
3. Fantasy (Remix)

Would be interested to know of any differing opinions. These three songs I think define Mariah Carey.

Geek alert: UK singles ranking (92,314) by Bill from the UK
Hi all. You know I love me some lists. And you know I love me some stats. And you know I love being a geek and an excel database here and there. Please see below an excerpt from my Mariah excel, which lists all her UK singles in order of chart position. Why do I find things like this so interesting? Lol. Interestingly, both Breakdown and The Roof managed to chart (at the back end) despite not being released in the UK. The Roof was withdrawn from sale and so the import versions of the two singles did make an impact. Makes you wonder how well they would have fared, had they been released officially. The mind boggles.

Re: Charmbracelet singles (92,298) (92,313) by Will from Australia
Charmbracelet is hands down my least favourite album so I'd release Through The Rain and move on. When I listen to all the tracks and try imagine them on the radio I just struggle to. If I had to, I'd have released Through The Rain, Bringing On The Heartbreak and then The One. Now before you all come after me with your pitchforks, I do love a few other songs from the album but don't think they're single worthy.

Charm Girl haha, love it. Yes I've no idea why The One was axed when it was seemingly received so positively by fans and critics in their reviews. Interesting that several of the responses have Yours. Great song, and agree, if the JT version had been released I think that would have been really successful.
