Re: My Mariah Carey year - 1995 (91,206) (91,260) by B from USA
1995 was also my Mariah year. I was fascinated by her beauty and her otherworldly voice.

Difference of opinion (91,259) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Truth be told, there is nothing wrong with a difference of opinion but some opinions expressed here are down right mean. As a collective everyone is not going to like the same thing in regards to Mariah and her choices which I can respect. But on the other hand, if you constantly make it your business to come onto this message board to spew negativity, and write hurtful things and make negative comments and statements about Mariah what is the point of posting at all? I suggest that you just move on to another artist that tickles your spirits and you can enjoy. Be blessed my Archives family, and be good to yourselves.

December Cosmopolitan cover (91,258) by Licia from USA
I love this cover. The simplicity of it makes it even more beautiful. Less is definitely more.

The day that Edward got the title troll on this board, tells me that the new mentality that grew with the social media's finally reached a new level. It seems like if you are not agreeing with you guys, you are against Mariah and everything she has done. I can't wait for a society where no one are allowed to have their own opinions. Oh wait. They exist around the world. What are they called? Dictatorships? Just please stop name calling people who has a different opinion than you. And no. I'm not a troll either.

Wow. Try to discuss the case, not the persons who are discussing. It seems like someone is trying to make a fight out of nothing all the time here.

Re: St John the Divine (91,248) (91,254) by Bill from the UK
Haha Licia I love you. I love how she sounds on the concert. It's just real Mariah. She said that when at Sony everything had to be perfect, so I love that she's just put it out as it was recorded. Because it is still a great concert, all live, all sung straight through. It's phenomenal.

Nothing in Edward's message warranted such a mean spirited response as that Terna.

Re: St John the Divine (91,244) (91,252) by Edward from USA
I didn't argue or question anybody who liked the concert audio, it just wasn't what I was expecting in terms of quality, that's my opinion and my experience, I stated it and moved on, yet some of you couldn't move on, could you?

When there's a rule that everybody has to agree on this board, that's when I'll stop posting. But sadly for you there's not such rule, is there? My post could've been just another post, yet somebody had go on the crazy lamb attack.

PS: I know crazy when I see it, and I when I see your your face, I immediately skip your posts, yet mine seem to keep messing with your mascara, go figure whose existence is sorry.

Re: St John the Divine (91,248) (91,250) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I had a feeling you would respond this way Licia, Edward is allowed his opinion too. It would be so nice if Mariah could release something without people lighting torches and coming for each other based on some words written on a post. I remember I didn't like I Don't at all when it came out. I said I loved the concert but don't care if others have things they don't like. I'm still going to happily love it. I loved the song Caution most people on the board described the track as generic and forgettable. Does it affect my enjoyment of the song at all? Nope. Sorry

Re: St John the Divine (91,248) (91,249) by B from USA
Are we really complaining that a Mariah Carey performance sounds real? I'm glad she released it as is. If I want to hear perfection, I'll listen to Merry Christmas. Nothing Mariah does (or did it seems) will ever meet their expectations.

Re: St John the Divine (91,240) (91,248) by Licia from USA
I haven't heard all of the songs yet. I only heard AIWFCIY. It was a bit shaky, but it still sounded good. All in all I'm happy that the people who wanted this concert in some form got it. It's a treat and I can't wait until I can finally sit and listen. If Bill likes it, then I like it.

Re: Rainbow at 20 (91,246) (91,247) by B from USA
Agreed. I love that the writer of this piece showed TGIFY some love. Yes, the version featuring Joe and 98 Degrees sounds dated, but when stripped of its pop veneer, it's a beautifully written love song, and that's the unvarnished truth.

Rainbow at 20 (91,246) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
All the odds were stacked up against Rainbow: the pressure of succeeding Mariah's magnum opus, the trend shift from R&B towards Latin, urban and teen pop, the increasingly tumultuous relationship between Mariah and her then label, her changing voice, etc. It seemed like it was bound to be doomed. But Rainbow, as tinny and inferior as it sounded especially compared to Mariah's previous releases at the time, it still performed quite well. It may be considered by most as the beginning of Mariah's decline, but anyone who really paid attention to the music released that year would know that Rainbow was actually one of the best mainstream releases that year (which wasn't as rife with modern classics as the years that came before).

In 2019, Heartbreaker and its remix still slap harder than most of today's hits, Bliss is just as ethereal and Crybaby is just as slinky as they were two decades ago, and while Can't Take That Away and Thank God I Found You are still high on the cheese factor, at least they're expensive cheese. Not bad at all for an album that's often overlooked and regarded as one of Mariah's weakest works. Happy 20, Rainbow.

It must be a chore relating with you in real life. You are part of the trolls here even though you won't readily admit that. Must always find something to nit pick or be unsatisfied with, Why can't you just be grateful that particular performance many lambs wished for years on end, has finally seen the light of day You just have to be the negative Nancy on this message board you and your coven. And don't get me started on your wack sarcasm you seem to think is funny, I hate to break it you; it's not (all caps).

Ps: If bragging about thumbs up on your silly message is a thing to you then that just validates what RJJ said about your sorry existence in real life. Quit seeking validation online Mr.

I agree. I really enjoyed the tracks. It felt intimate, the way she likes it. Her voice is in top shape on every song. It's always a treat to hear 90s Mariah in never-before-heard material. Sugar Plum Fairy is also great. Love the operatic moments. I'm surprised she included an acapella version. There are scratches in her whistle here and there. But it is what it is, and still sounds sweet.

Jesus Born On This Day (91,242) by Will from Australia
Ok can we take a minute to appreciate the extra loud kid yelling the lyrics at parts of Jesus Born On The Day. I for one am so happy they didn’t dub that down in any way, it just adds so much to the song.

Memoirs now onto Rainbox vinyl (91,241) by Bobby A from United States
I will have the Memoirs vinyl in my hands after Thanksgiving. I will have a DJ copy of Glitter vinyl this week in the mail. So now I am in search of the Rainbow vinyl. Is there anyone who would be willing to sell their copy or help me locate a copy? I am curious how Bliss will sound on my new Audio Technica turntable and vintage Sanyo speakers. Bliss has to be the best song Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis wrote with MC besides Yours.

Re: St John the Divine (91,238) (91,240) by Edward from USA
You seem to be part of a herd, I'm not. I'm an individual and have my own mother effing opinions. No matter how many times you regurgitate the same nonsense, I will keep posting my opinions, agreeing and disagreeing with whomever the f I want. You said you say things the way you see them, so do I. You conform to a group type of thinking, I don't. I like certain things, I don't like others, and will state it. I never said the concert was bad, or questioned those who loved it, it just wasn't what I was expecting, but I was as excited as the rest of us when it was announced. My post and the "thumbs -up" it has seems to have messed your nail polish, I'm not sorry. I don't have to go with the flow so you don't grow a new wrinkle.

As for the obsession you have with Andrew, you should buy yourself a blond Ken doll and play with it, and once you're done then break it apart.

Bill you are def not one of the three. You’re joke was not with ill intent. I thought it was funny and light hearted. We all joke within reason except the few trolls that post malicious comments wrapped up in comedy.

Re: St John the Divine (91,231) (91,238) by 123 from USA
I see the racist from the UK and Edward are working together again to belittle the St Johns concert audio. I'm sure the 3rd of your clique will follow predictably. Everyone except for you trolls love the audio and the fact that it wasn't dubbed to perfection gives it the live feel we all wanted but didn't expect. It's sad that you all have nothing else going on in your lives to entertain you other than posting bait for likes. I see Edwards response to the racist basically agreeing that the audio was less than amazing with all the likes proves my point.

Re: St John the Divine (91,230) (91,237) by Bobby A from United States
You can tell that AIWFCIY was performed for the first time because she sounded a little nervous with the intro arrangement. We have never received that arrangement since the St. John the Divine. Overall, I think the whole 2 CD collection is a joy to have right now after 25 years.

I found it glorious, I love how raw it sounds. If I close my eyes it makes me feel like I'm there. I also like how the new tracks flow and feel like part of the concert. Worth my money.
