Re: The remix (88,624) (88,627) by Edward from USA
B, It's always someone else to blame, Isn't it? There's a thin line between being positive and being delusional, in your case at least. At what point do you even consider Mariah is responsible, at least partially? Oops, that context wouldn't ever exist in your world. I said from the beginning, this remix would work if it wasn't a cut and paste effort, and there it is, so you, like many other delulus, have to look for a escape goat, JD it is, or maybe Epic. No, those two are "A No No", it's Tommy or maybe JLO. It was Cardi or Maybe Lil Kim.

The remix hmmm #112 (88,626) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
First off, I love Stefflon Don. I love her tracks, her dancehall vibes, her spit, her flow. "A No No" is such a sassy, hot song, I expected her to come harder on the track, tbh. Her verse is a good length, but I expected more "exclamation marks" in her rhymes. I was also thinking the remix beat might incorporate a dancehall slant with Stefflon Don's addition. It's a bit of an "I Don't" Remy Ma remix. I can understand why JD went off. I mean when it only makes sense to have Lil' Kim, why not at the very least do Stefflon Don and Kim? Or do a full on women anthem ah la "Ladies Night" with all four women on the track (Don, Kim, Cardi, Missy).

It's doing what it's meant to do I guess. "A No No" remix is #112 on Canadian iTunes which isn't high by any means, but the standard release never appeared in iTunes even after the video was released. I'm glad we got new single artwork. I like the digitized neon letters the title is in.

Anyway; Caution is a fantastic album as is. No adjustments needed on this masterpiece.

Remixes I'd love:
GTFO - Club Mix by Fedde La Grand
Caution - Dancehall mix by Vybz Kartel
The Distance - Club mix by Shrillex
Giving me life - 80's electric guitar remix
One Mo' Gen - Disco Vintage Remix (in the vain of Triumphant vintage remix)
8th Grade - Club mix by Timbaland
Portrait - Full blown live orchestra mix

Here's a headline (88,625) by RibbonB from USA
Carey chose Christmas coins over continuous Caution promotion. And that's ok, it is what it is. She just seems to be riding whichever wave comes her way, while creating a few ripples along the way. It will be interesting to see her next moves after Caution, will she ride it around the world and back, or just until she gets to the holiday wave once again come Autumn.

Re: The remix (88,618) (88,624) by B from USA
At least he didn't throw Mariah under the bus this time like he did after MIAM underperformed. He does seem upset but he caused all of this. Maybe JD's beat was garbage so they went with a copy and paste remix instead.

Re: A No No (88,620) (88,623) by B from USA
Agreed. I could understand releasing a remix with Stefflon Don if she was signed to Epic or a subsidiary of Sony but she isn't if her Wikipedia page is accurate. Maybe Epic chose her in hopes her inclusion will improve the song's performance on the European market?

A No No (88,622) by B from USA
The following excerpt explains why artists no longer remix their songs.

A growing trend in the early first decade of the 21st century was to issue a song as a "remix" that was so drastically different in structure and lyrical content from its original version that it was essentially a whole new song. Under normal circumstances, airplay points from a song's album version, "radio" mix and/or dance music remix, etc. were all combined and factored into the song's performance on the Hot 100, as the structure, lyrics and melody remained intact. Criticisms began when songs were being completely re-recorded to the point that they no longer resembled the original recording. The first such example of this scenario is Jennifer Lopez' "I'm Real". Originally entering the Hot 100 in its album version, a "remix" was issued in the midst of its chart run that featured rapper Ja Rule. This new version proved to be far more popular than the album version and the track was propelled to number one.

To address this issue, Billboard now separates airplay points from a song's original version and its remix, if the remix is determined to be a "new song". Since administering this new chart rule, several songs have charted twice, normally credited as "Part 1" and "Part 2". The remix rule is still in place.

I am so happy that you got your moment with MC, and it exceeded your expectations. Also I am sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved mother. Just know that she's smiling down on you from heaven and believe me when I say your moment with MC was her moment too. You have now gained an angel in the sky that watches over you and your family daily. Sending my prayers and some positive light your way asking God to allow you and your family some comfort during this difficult time.

Re: A No No (88,619) (88,620) by Shezz from Pk
So there is a JD video floating on twitter where he addresses this, like B already mentioned. I'm posting the link here but somehow it never gets posted. Basically what he said was that Lil Kim reached out to him to do the remix and he sent her the beat - that's it. Nothing else came off it and he doesn't know why but I feel JD is often unclear and misleading. He says in this clip that he never heard the Steflon remix ever and that Epic records is responsible for this remix not him, that they decided to do one with her and not Lil Kim. It can be an inter label issue like Mariah has had with other artists before sadly due to Label politics. What's funny is that just a few days before the remix he posted a video about how the remix would come later, meaning he was still hoping for his Lil Kim mix. I'm pretty sure Mariah would have also preferred Lil Kim on it as she openly stated but Epic probably gave her no choice. Not that the song needs a remix, some additional star power would have just helped it get to a wider audience.

This could be the issue, but the only reason I can think of to not pay Kim what she wants is that they only want her if Cardi is on it too (and Cardi has not come through yet) because they don't think Kim is able to chart or that some industry people are blocking her to go nr 1 by not giving the fans what they want and not promoting the song. I mean if as a label you clearly know what the fans want, see the potential with an epic collaboration with a super catchy song, why wouldn't you pay the featured artists what they ask for?

The remix (88,618) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Honestly MC said she would love to work with Cardi, she never said that it was happening. Now JD on the other hand was the one making a big deal about a remix and I really believe that this has everything to do with his ego simply because none of his actual production made it onto the album. His role was reduced to an associate producer on the A No No track while Shea Taylor is the main producer of the song. I feel JD feels some kind of way, even though nowadays there limitations on remixes because of chart rules which sucks because we all know that when the stars align Mariah can give and has given us some dope ass remixes throughout her career. Honestly if there is another chance I hope this meeting of the minds can come together with MC, Cardi, Lil Kim, and Missy but would rather another producer because a JD production in 2019 would not work, as his sound has become stale and dated as it is stuck in the mid 00's somewhere. Just MC reinvented herself with Caution and still gave us classic MC. I need JD to do the same with his production. By the way the original version of A No No is fine on its own.

Remix disappointed (88,617) by Gilles from Malta
Just wanted to share my feelings about the remix. I am sad lol because they just add the rap session with Stefflon Don. Nothing was creatively done as she used to make. [...] I can not write anything else about it. Who knows maybe they made it on purpose to ease people's mind who were requesting for a remix and a new remix will appear. Sooner or later.

Stefflon Don? (88,616) by Mariahsbaby from usa
I have to laugh at outrage of this remix, some of you guys are talking as if she debuted yesterday. She has worked with Drake, Big sean, Demi Lovato, Ne-Yo, Bebe Rexha, Calvin Harris etc. One of the things I love about Mariah is her willingness to work with newer artists, even though nobody asked for this lol. Ps: I have a feeling another remix will come. If not then who cares? I hope we get 2-3 more videos and I still need her to re-release Runaway worldwide.

Now, now. It's only (another) lie if the account does not exist. So give him a chance. B, the link to the fake account, please. We can let Mary Ann know to as for it to be taken down. She may even be chuffed someone bizarrely made a fake account of her.

Exactly my thoughts. Something's up. My only guess is that they are waiting for Cardi to come through. But then there is not a video in place, so they'd have to put that together somehow to get full attention.

Heard it once and didn't like it. I definitely would have preferred having Cardi B on it for radio airplay and streaming, but what bothered me is it's a bad copy/paste edit.

A No No (88,611) by B from USA
JD went on a tangent about how he reached out to Kim and Missy and even sent Kim the track. He went on to say that Epic is responsible for this remix and that he doesn't know why Epic decided to go with Stefflon Don instead of Kim. My money is Kim asked for more money than the label was willing to pay her. Personally, I don't think the song needs to be remixed.

Bill, I believe that the wonderful experience literally hours before, played out the way it did for a reason. I do believe God is behind it and she is there watching. Thank you for your message. Special K, my friend, you were one before the Meet & Greet and you told me all about your experience. You helped ease my nerves. I appreciate how you put it that it was part of her journey and it's funny how you said "Keep your head up" as my mom always said that. Just a little validation. You don't know how I was unsure on posting this or not but I am really glad I did and me and my sister both read all these messages and it brought us comfort. Love to you all.

Thank you Edward and I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your lovely mother at such a young age. Those are hard years to begin with and that kind of loss at that age so sudden must have been horrible. Martyn, such a sad loss, you just don't know. I do appreciate your words and those lyrics to those songs have such poignant meaning now. So many of them.

I'm deeply sorry for your loss, Mara. I also lost my mom suddenly and unexpectedly, and like your mom, she was an amazing mom. I was in my early teens, so I guess you're lucky she got to meet your kids, husband and to see you being happy and in good hands. Thank you for sharing your story because, just like Martyn's sadly departure from this earth, we could be here one day and gone the other. Family and friendships are important and all we have at the end of the day. Since your mom loved Mariah and you do to, I guess she must be shining down on you from heaven.

Mara, words cannot express how much I appreciate you sharing your story. I am truly sorry about the passing of your mother. After reading this post twice, I am convinced that your mother knew her journey on this earth was not complete until you actually met Mariah. I am so happy that you had a wonderful experience meeting Mariah. I can't even imagine the roller coaster ride of emotions that you are going through. Keep your head up and please continue to bless this board with your positive vibe. Remember, "And I know eventually we'll be together, one sweet day."

Oh Mara. I am so, so sorry. I don't know what to say. Like others have said, your dear sweet mother was elated and so happy when you met Mariah. I don't know what your beliefs are but to me that is like God is giving you happiness to help ease your devastating news. You are so loved. Your lovely mother is shining down on you from heaven.
