I love Memoirs as well. Underrated. I appreciate the cohesiveness of it and to me that makes it stand out amongst her discography. I love the chill vibe and mood of it. Now that's also reminding me of Butterfly, not that the albums sound alike, but that also has a late night vibe to me. I can understand how some people aren't into Memoirs. Although I think some aren't into it somewhat based on the amount of its commercial success. Not sure what's in my top 5. That's too hard for me. For some reason I can rank songs easier.

William, I was going to give you a thumbs up because you reminded me that There's Got To Be A Way is an actual thing and I needed a quick pick-me-up. Always makes me laugh out loud. However, I cannot give you said thumbs up because after spreadsheetgate I bet Jade you had a thin comb-over and missing teeth and I just lost said bet. Anyway, I'm off to listen to someone sing about connecting this world today and uniting this human race but providing not a shred of an idea how to achieve it. Hey, I have an idea that will stop hungry children dying... become an international superstar, earn half a billion dollars and buy the kids some food. I can almost see the meeting now: UNICEF guy: "Mariah, you did it, you're an international superstar with half a billion dollars. Now if I could just get you to sign here and here we can buy the kids the food they need and..." Mariah: "Hmmm, yeah, bout dat..."

It's not an album I make a bee line for usually, although when I do listen to it I realise I like every song on the album. Same goes with E=MC2. I also appreciate the one producer cohesiveness it offers. Ribbon, Betcha Gon' Know, HATE U, IWTKWLI, It's a Wrap are all excellent songs.

I'm interested to know, so please "like" if you've listened to the debut album this week. Still one of her best and one that's on constant rotation all these years later.

Memoirs (82,381)
by David from Australia

I'm curious if there are many other fans that love the Memoirs album as much as I do. Personally, it's one of my favourites from her; definitely in my top five. I've seen it get so much dislike on this message board which really surprises me. It's her most cohesive body of work to date and each song flows seamlessly from one to the next. Even though it has more tracks than a typical Mariah album, it doesn't feel overlong at all, unlike MIAM or Charmbracelet. I especially love the old-school R&B vibe of the album; it has such a classic feel to it. Ribbon, The Impossible, Languishing, Candy Bling and Angel's Cry are also some of her best work. If only it had been promoted better, it would've received the justice it deserved. A better cover would've helped too, but otherwise it's a definite highlight in an amazing discography for me.

I mentioned it to some mates in London and Manchester, and they said, "Yeah she'll love it there. It's trashy chavvy central."

The last three mistakes (82,379)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
I hope the new album rollout and promotion is orchestrated better than MIAM, MOIA, and E=MC2. First, MIAM had the wrong singles released after Beautiful. There was no album promotion at all. It seems like MC was fed up with Def Jam and vice versa. Naming the album with that weird and long title said it all. Second, letting The Dream and Tricky Stewart write and produce most of MOIA was a total disaster. All the songs sounded alike and MC sounded boring. MC had never before had just one production team create her album sound. She strayed away from her hit making formula and took a catastrophic chance. MOIA lacked great singles after Obsessed and the video for I Want To Know What Love Is was cheesy and unexciting. It should have never been an U.S. single. Third, MIAM had many great single choices after Touch My Body and releasing Bye Bye was a huge mistake. Great song with a message but not a great single choice for maximizing album sales and maintaining chart longevity. Migrate would have been a better single choice. Some A&R executive and L.A. Reid dropped the ball with E=MC2. So let's hope MC returns with a hot album cover and title, multiple promotional rollouts and a great fresh sounding album. The Live Nation deal sounds promising.

We already knew this new tour wasn't to promote a new album though. In the beginning wasn't the original idea for the tour supposed to be centered around Butterfly? I thought that's what I read (correct me if I'm wrong).

Hey. I got my MC in Blackpool tickets and absolutely shocked to even say "I am going to see Mariah in Blackpool." I think apart from anything else - it is just part of a bigger plan to get Mariah's name back out there especially in the UK. I am so excited to see what she will perform given that it is a "festival" style - will be the hits again but could certainly use a festive moment/surprise for sure.

I would love for Mariah to start performing Loverboy on the regular. I loved her setlists on the Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour. Also loved the "Heat" opener when I saw her on the All The Hits tour with Lionel and that she sang I'm That Chick (one of my absolute faves).

It is becoming more and more apparent that this new tour is not in support of a new album. Plus the new tour looks like it is going to be extended to a world tour as per recent articles so just when would she be dropping a new album? Next year? Ofcourse she should take her time and get it right but then wouldn't this current direction of her's feel stale to her later on? The way things are going it just seems like she's going to drop an album soon this year and capitalise on the momentum but when?

Mariah in Blackpool (82,373)

So I have tickets to see Mariah in Blackpool. This is the strangest sentence to ever leave my mouth. Of all of the places in the UK for Mariah to perform, Blackpool is the last place I would expect to her to be. I am very excited though. Did anyone else manage to get tickets?

Just booked my tickets for the Blackpool show. Don't think I can pass up on not seeing her this year. Saves me money as I was close to booking for the Asian tour. She is working the tour scene so hard these last few years. Let's hope for something festive as I am in golden circle bit.

After reading this article it gave me a little hope as far as the Vegas show goes. It won't be a number 1's show, which is great considering she has a huge catalog of songs. Some of those songs in my opinion are better than a few number ones. Here's to hoping we get to hear a few songs that she hasn't performed in a while or ever.

There was something there between them, perhaps neither really acted on it and so nothing happened. With his typical dry, British humor which Mariah totally gets, they would've been a fun couple. Oh well.

Always loved their interviews together and the flirty banter between them. Jamie brought out a side of Mariah that relaxed her and was playful. There definitely was an attraction there, on both sides. I do remember the Memior interview they did when they both were married and he had children. It almost sounded like two past loves that both moved on. I do wish they would reunite for another interview if she is in and around where he is.

Mariah coming to Blackpool (82,367)
by John john from UK

I went to Live-wire last year (not planned was at a convention there) the lady at the hotel gave us the weekend pass for free, we saw Will Smith, lots of 80's groups and "the Jacksons". It was a great event. I think this will be a great platform for Mimi and something a little different. Anyone planning to go? Think I need to sort work plans out asap and get booked in.

Despite the different opinions expressed here, I would like to express my gratitude to this website because it is through this website that I found out that Meet and Greet tickets are available. I looked on ticketmaster's website and they do not advertise Meet and Greet. Even when I called them (which was hell to get through a human being yo speak to), they said that Mariah is not doing a Meet and Greet. I always visit this site every day and Eyeguy 759 said that he got his ticket as an Ad On when you check out from ticketmaster. I did that and got a Meet and Greet for 10 September. Mariah's music has been an integral part of my youth and inspired me in so many ways. Her albums have helped me get through challenging situations in the past and I'm so grateful to her as a singer and songwriter that it is natural I want even a moment to meet her at any cost. When she visited South Africa, I was unable to get Meet And Greet tickets because they were sold out within minutes in every city. I booked accommodation at Harrahs for this Vegas show and will be staying there for a week, from 7 to 14 Srptember. If there are any other lambs going and want to meet up then please email me at vadobrite@gmail.com.
