It's great to see the love A No No is getting. I'm sitting here curious to hear Randy and Andrew's opinion.

Of course, I did not read what he said. I can only hope he abandons this fan page. I use the word fan so loosely in his case.

So it looks like there will be 11 songs on the Japanese version. Liron stated it is one of their favorites from the album.

AIWFCIY is the eleventh best selling single of all time. White Christmas is not obviously way up there by. But surely Mariah's song will surpass it one day, possibly not in our lifetimes, but one day. It will continue to sell forever.

Abandon? (85,532)
by Andrew from UK
| |
|

Shezz, here's a hopeful theory for you: Mariah has written two ten track albums and she is releasing the second one at the start of summer next year. Caution does feel like a very cosy winter album rather than a vibrant summer one. It could be called Abandon (being an antonym of Caution). I should *so* be Mariah's manager.

A No No (85,531)

If you're gonna dish out some shade, you might as well serve more than just a platter, go ahead and throw a feast. Enter A No No, Mariah's brutally shadiest song ever. Her bitchiest since Obsessed and her sassiest one since Shake It Off, it's like a fierce blend of the latter, the entire urban pop sound of 1999, TLC's No Scrubs, and her own X-Girfriend and every other song that has used that brilliant Lil Kim sample ever. We haven't gotten to the lyrics yet and Stella's already furiously shaking in her leather hooker boots.
Whereas SIO is more of a narrative kiss-off, ANN manages to fit in tons of unapologetic shade, clever pop culture references, celebrity braggadocio and her most meme-able and memorable lines on a song yet all within 3 minutes and 10 seconds, while sounding great, current yet a bit retro at the same time. That's genius right there. This is genuinely her most fun-sounding track since anything on her party album E=MC2.
This is one of those rare MC moments where everything just comes together and works perfectly: the hot beat, the lyrics, the vocals, the melody, the sample, the tempo, the rap bit, etc. Every part is strong, too. The first verse echoes a bit of No Scrubs. The chorus is simple and really easy to follow. The ad-libs during the final chorus provide enough variation to keep things interesting and ending conversation clip is just brilliant. But the highlight has got to be that second verse. It is a tad reminiscent of how she attacked Heartbreaker's second verse. And then the Gilligan's Island reference kicks in and her tone shifts from authoritative pissed-off diva to an almost childish taunt with her rapid-fire delivery. Perfection.
A No No is her best song in a long while, and perhaps the biggest success here is that she was able to make a great sample that has been borrowed so many times before sound like its best and freshest usage ever. She sounds great, the track is immensely enjoyable with an unbelievable repeat value, and we all know that if this is not chosen as the official second single, we will all be throwing epic hissy fits.

Very sweet of you RJ. I love The Distance and ANN is catchy and so Mariah. I'm excited to hear 8th Grade and Portrait. Based on her own descriptions I am hoping for an intimate look into where MC is now. Always love the songs where she gives us a peek into her real true self. Feels like those songs are always a "gift" to the true fans. Thank you again for putting into words what a lot of us would like to say. Hope you are well as well

A No No (85,521)

Just listened to this while at work. Is it against work policy to bop in your rolling desk chair 'til the carpet wears away? As a fellow attorney, I gotta lurvs the inclusion of the attorney reference. I will be playing this song out loud for people when they make demands of me at work and will be translating it in all languages (you know, Portuguese, Japanese) in case there's confusion. Enjoy and be well to yourselves and others. God bless.

Ginger is a glamorous woman from showbiz who always wants to seduce the men on the island for different purposes and being cunning to get what she wants. Watch a video of Ginger Grant on YouTube you'll get it.

A No No (85,517)
by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway

I really like the updated sound on this new album. Even though it seem like the public is mostly ignoring it, Mariah is in the lime light, and I am sure the critics will love the album. They push the album as it was a success, and I like that. No matter what, the name Mariah Carey sells, and now people go to her concerts again. Here in Norway the concert in Stavanger almost sold out after a week. There are still tickets, but far away from the stage. It's too expensive for me to go since I'm a student, but I saw her in Oslo in 2016, so happy with that.

I'm glad I Don't and the others didn't make it into the album. She needs to put that whole era behind her. I wonder if she'll keep drip feeding songs so that we end up having the entire album on November 16.
