Re: New release (83,604) (83,606) by Tijl from Belgium
My thoughts exactly in a previous post: All I want for Christmas - besides MC15 - is a new remix album post Charmbracelet. There are so many gems out there that occasionally even surpass the original songs. I still play the first remix album a lot especially the RnB disc. Isn't this the perfect moment to unlock the endeavours of the skipped "Angels Advocate" project if not the great remixes from TEOM and later eras? Bring it on MC.

I think I would end my journey as a lamb if it's one more Christmas song lol. Please no.

Re: New release (83,603) (83,604) by Bill from the UK
Lol please no. Though it seems a prime candidate now that you have mentioned. Years ago Joni Mitchell released her "Hits" CD which had all her popular songs on them. She only put that album out on the proviso that she also put out a "Misses" disc, which was all the songs that didn't chart or never got a release. MC has a great catalogue of deep cuts no one outside this message board is familiar with. I'd love to see "Petals", "Close My Eyes", "Looking In", "Vanishing" and, of course, "Migrate" (that really should have been a single, thinking about it) have their day in the sun.

Re: New release (83,600) (83,602) by Bill from the UK
If it is (another) compilation, I hope it's either an updated remixes with all the post-Charmbracelet collabs and club mixes as there were some great ones. Or, I've always wanted a Duets album, where we have nice high quality versions of With You I'm Born Again, Hero with Pav, the full length Hopelessly Devoted To You, plus a whole host of others I can't even think of right now. I need to think about it properly. If it's another hits collection, or those damn 18 number ones again, I will be so angry. A real surprise would be a re-mastered debut album with the demo tape on the second disc. Now that (caps) would be a joy forever.

Re: New release (83,600) (83,601) by Edward from USA
Don't be disappointed, it's really exciting to have her 18 #1's released again but backwards. It's not the same listening to "Vision of Love" as the first track than listening to it as the last one back titled "Love Of Vision". I'm so, so, like really, so excited. Infinity won't be on this compilation though, rumor has it there's a new track called "Why You High (In The Clouds Remix)", they say it's a very aggressive track. I can't wait.

I copy the ig link to my clipboard and then I go to a site called downvids.net. I paste the link there and then click on download the video. I just reread your question. I don't know how to do the story, but the way I just posted is how you download the video from just her regular ig.

Crybaby Vegas live (83,598) by 123 from USA
She can still sing if she actually takes care of her voice. Crybaby sounded really good. Her tone was so clear and honey like. Yeah the whistles and high belts are gone. But if she care for her voice she can focus on giving us great tone in full voice in her mid range.

No, but do we know who call the singers were besides Trey and Maryann? It was very cool to see Nick's mom hanging out backstage with Mariah and singers.

Re: She should've paid attention to us (83,585) (83,592) by Andrew from UK
You miss the point, somewhat. That Mariah felt in a relationship she didn't want to be in difficult to leave is not a good thing (probably wise not to marry your boss with whom you are in an unbreakable contract). Yet between the separation and the release of the Glitter movie she had, without much outside influence, damaged her image, her voice and key relationships. Ultimately, it broke her. If Mottola and his team had been trying to save her from that, from herself, well, it would have been interesting to see what might have been. I recall that Mottola didn't stop ODB being on the Fantasy record but that he did stop Mariah being in the studio when ODB was a mess laying down his vocal. That it was eventually more important to Mariah to make herself the darling of the hip-hop world and a sex symbol to the the rest of it is what it is. So be it. As it stands, this year there is a new record coming out on which must be the most awful vocals if the most recent The Butterfly Returns shows are anything to go by. She wouldn't even win a karaoke competition to her own songs let alone a recording contract. But as long as the hip-hop guys tell her she is hot, I don't think she cares.

Re: She at it again (83,589) (83,591) by Tijl from Belgium
Stella should also realize she is up against a professional with 28 years of experience who learned to handle shenanigans like this the hard way. Mariah may have issues and some skeletons in the closet - just like everybody else - but she is definitely not a fool. "I am a press conference, you're a conversation." The biggest problem is actually the way the media features these stories already sharpening their knives to slice up Mariah.

New release (83,590) by Tijl from Belgium
According to The Mariah Carey Chronicle: "Breaking: Amazon.co.uk has added a new Mariah Carey CD to their site to be released on October 26, 2018. Could this be the new album? Pre-order now." Amazon mentions a release date for a Japanese special edition containing 2 discs. Exciting.

She at it again (83,589) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Stella is using any tool possible as blackmail because she is mad that Mariah took control of her own life again, she sees that Mariah is slowly gaining her confidence back and enjoying life with positive energy around her. Honestly speaking Stella is just upset because she is no longer calling the shots and can no longer live off of Mariah for her own personal and selfish gain. Again wake up everyone Stella didn't have any issues with Mariah's so called alarming behavior until she was dismissed of her duties as manager and single white female. Trust me when I say that this is all about bruised ego and pride nothing else.

Re: She should've paid attention to us (83,585) (83,588) by Edward from USA
I completely agree with you, but isn't it ironic that she seemed to have gotten out of a controlling relationship to enter into an addictive one? One that has tarnished an impressive career and almost turned her into a walking joke, at least up until her separation with Caricaturella. She wasn't ever really free when she divorced Tommy, she just started fluttering her wings within the confines of her own glass until she almost suffocated herself when she incorporated glitter to mix. I'm really hoping and rooting for her to be ok now with the right treatment. She seems to be. The voice won't recover to its old glory, but if her pregnancy proved something, it was the fact that when she puts the alcohol aside, her voice recovers to a very decent state. I hate to say it, but I'm glad this Stella situation is happening, I rather she has her wake-up call while she can still do something about it. She has a lot to lose, and people in her life who need her to be ok for many more years to come. She owes that to them.

Re: She should've paid attention to us (83,584) (83,587) by Bill from the UK
Both points being made here are intertwined. Yes, Tommy kept Mariah sequestered from the outside world and thus she didn't, presumably, dabble in any substances that would harm her voice. But once she separated from Tommy she seemingly went from one extreme to the other. The over arching take away for me is, had Mariah been no more than just another artist on Sony's books like, I don't know, Gloria Estefan and she was happily allowed to carry down the more soul/old school sound she was doing on the Emotions LP, rather than being geared towards commercial music, I wonder where she would be now and what state. She might only have 5 number ones to her name, but she could well still sound as she did during the beginning of her career. But everyone made their choices. She walked down that aisle, she walked out of Sing Sing, and she also walked out the marijuana store in Aspen with bags and bags of purchases. It is what it is and we are where we are. As has been said, she needs to drop the act and do the best with what she has left.

I think I would rather get out of a controlling relationship and suffer professionally, than stay in one and be successful. The expectation of anything else is ridiculous and kinda creepy.

Re: She should've paid attention to us (83,577) (83,584) by Randy from USA
But what's ironic in this moment Edward is how nasty everyone became when I argued about the voice changes and deterioration 19 years ago. I never wanted to be right. I wanted an explanation. I was a fan to the highest degree but I was a realist. I knew what I heard and I knew that the constant talking about being a songwriter, a beauty school dropout, ensembles, lighting, Jack her dog has a website, being in the studio, was a cover for the fact that she couldn't sing anymore. And not being able to sing didn't mean sounding like her old self. We're talking about not sounding good live. The funny thing is that so many people on here think Andrew, I and others get a kick out of being right. I don't. No pun intended. I always wanted MC to win. At her height as a singer/songwriter, there will never be anyone who could match those two abilities at the same time. I want her to win but she won't listen to us. That's evidenced by Stella. But for real for real, address the vocal decline publically, write and sing songs on your new album you can sing live without issue and lose the diva image. I swear she will catch the public with the new Mariah moreso than with the iconic legend diva personified. Because the general public loves authenticity, the new Mariah will have been who she was all along. But as fans we will keep that our little secret.

Queen of shade (83,583) by RibbonB from USA
Was truly Aretha Franklin. This article from Vulture highlights her most iconic moments. I love the Liz Smith story and her Mariah moment is more cute and funny than shade. Of course we know Aretha covered Touch My Body in her concerts when the hit was new. She faux coyly shys away from certain lyrics nothingness church roots. Gotta love her self assured attitude and her sense of humor. I wish Mariah would share a warm or humorous story of herself and the queen. Aretha seemed very pleased when Mimi was awarded the BET Honors award in 2012, I believe it was. Time flies and surely changes things.

Prince Charlez (83,582) by Bobby A from United States
He has a great YouTube interview video about how he got his start as a songwriter. His mentor was RedOne (Lady Gaga). They wrote Usher's More together. His songwriting style is very aggressive and hard hitting including his own solo work. He sort of reminds me of Jermaine Stewart and his flamboyant personality. He fits the profile in how MC chooses collaborators. He is young, fresh, unique and a catchy songwriter. Reminds you of JD, right. I guess Rihanna's Needed You made her want to collaborate with him. Check out his song Bitty. Hilarious song title but catchy lyrics and melody. He dances really good in the video. If you want to hear him sing a ballad he wrote, check out Mary J. Blige's Smile. He can really sing. We may just get another Butterfly album really soon.
