With you (84,258) by yiorgos from Germany , Berlin I agree with all the guys saying that if someone is so disappointed from what Mariah is delivering after so many years (at least she is still doing music and we got some great song in the last years regardless if they became hits) he should move on and don't waste energy. On the other hand also I think it's too early to judge from only the snippet, sure we get a video and a taste from it but I can't say for sure yet if I love it or hate it, sounds like Mariah and I like the simple production, but lets wait and see. Also has happened many times that I got to like a song after a few times listening to eat or even after the video came out. In general it seams like she is doing most of the things we where asking and hoping for, more promotion, better publicity, better styling (although could still improve) way better covers, the video of GTFO (was a beauty video) but still looked good and came on time and not a month after and was not even the official single, judging from GTFO and With You until now, she is making songs with producers she didn't work before with a current sound to please the mass but still Mariah style. So ok we can't only complain. Remember what we where having a year ago and at the end of the day she is not 20 any more if that's the best she can do or what's she feels like doing ok by me. If I like it great if I don't like it that much it's sad but still doesn't take away all the work she has given us in the past to make me upset with her. (Wednesday 3 October 2018; 08:14)

What kind of kick start would it take for you to be supportive or have faith again? Serious question. Also, I cannot speak for everyone else here, but I feel it kind of is important with who MC writes her songs about, making it more personal and meaningful to her as in what is going on in her life right now. It's like a mini diary, and as a fan since debut Mariah, that used to be the only way we could get into her head or know what she was thinking as she used to be incredibly private. Minus the horrible nightmare years, Mariah never got too personal as you know. So it kind of always was an interest of mine to try and figure out if the song was autobiographical. Just my thing. Not yours? I totally respect that. But I'm just curious, honestly as to what she has to do to make you a happy fan/lamb right now. "With You" impacting AC and Hot AC October 15th (84,253) by T from USA It's nice to know where they are planning on focusing this era so that way there is no misunderstandings. Mariah's last "top 40" Rhythmic album was Memoirs and that's how it should be. I wish they would've taken the AC route for The Elusive Chanteuse as it would've worked nicely with American Idol in marketing. It was a stretch to think Mariah could still be radio hit material at the age of 43 unfortunately. But I think they are going to write the wrongs from the last era. It seems it will play out more like Janet's Unbreakable (but with better promo). Think of all the over 37 year old girls that tried at Pop/Rhythmic this year and failed miserably. I wonder if Madonna has taken notice. PS. I guess iHeart was for nothing as she will still have a hard time at radio. (She's going to need a bigger than WBT song to make any sort of dent.) For a single to be successful the verses have to be personal and the chorus/hook has to be universal. From the snippets Mariah's new song follows suit. The verses will get Mariah mentioned in the blogs and tabloids and if the chorus/hook is strong she just might score a hit. I don't even want them to be about anyone. Lyrics should be universal so the song is accessible to everyone. And the music must be powerful and catchy. She continues to set expectations despite not having a #1 hit in 10 years. When she gears up for something, it has been instinctual for us to set ourselves up for possible failure even when we know she is way past her prime and the younger audience no longer recognize her. No one does the same for Mary J or Celine, which shows how different Mariah is. Their fans don't put too much pressure or emphasis on a singles chart potential. They just enjoy the music. Unluckily for us Mariah fans, we always hope for a huge comeback like it's 2005. AIWFCIY's new chart peak last year certainly didn't help matters. I guess it's no one's fault, really, but all these expectations are really keeping us from enjoying the music. We are all guilty of this. So if Mariah is about to unleash an album full of album cuts with no standalone single led by non-commercial sounding midtempos like GTFO and With You, a lot of us are gonna be bored and disappointed, but it is what it is. The bright side about these 2 songs so far it that the vocals aren't too engineered to suspicious perfection unlike the last album, which was good, but much of her vocals were too heavily edited. I look forward to really, honestly appreciating a new Mariah song for what it is without chart expectations in mind, and after all this time, I'm still so not there yet, but I hope I'll get to that point sometime. But until then, here's hoping that With You somehow resonates with the public, because for the first time in a long time, with all the promotional strategies her team has employed so far, she seems to genuinely believe in this one, and the last time that happened was with #Beautiful. But for me if I am constantly saddened or disappointed by a person I think the best thing for me to do is stop giving that person my energy or support. To all those who have reached that point with Mariah the time has come for you to move on, and just remember your good times and memories that Mariah the person and her art have brought to your life.
