Time to go to single #2. Type Dangerous reached Top 10 at R&B, Top 15 at Urban, Top 20 at Rhythmic, Top 20 HAC, Top 30 at POP. And #95 on the Hot 100. Not bad.

MC is so funny. She knows how to get us all excited. We might get three huge announcements today or Friday. The video will seem pointless if she doesn't say something significant today or Friday. July is almost over and TD won't make it back into the Hot 100 now.

I think she's teasing a new song and lol it's not about cleaning the house. Lol have you heard 34+35 by Ariana singing "I've been drinking coffee, I've been eating healthy, you know I keep it squeaky" lol our girl is probably singing about her private parts like Ariana as well, because when she's chopping the cushion she's also singing "I'mma give it to ya". Or she's about to drop the housewife's banger for the summer and it is about cleaning the house hahah.

The problem with Brad and hating ass hoes (109,788)
by Victoria from USA

How old is Brad? I'm fifty and have been a fan since the beginning. Apparently, myself and MC are supposed to dye our hair gray and start baking cookies. I can't stand a man telling us, when and why we're supposed to become some other person. I can appreciate "hating ass hoes" because of this messageboard. The majority of you come here to bash the woman, case in point "new album title" responses. It's mostly men [censored]. This messageboard has over a dozen [censored], that should love that lyric.

At first I thought oh wow she's teasing a new song/next single. Then it struck me later that it also could be a "mop song" moment that she's making up/freestyling while "cleaning" - "I'mma keep it nice, I'mma keep it neat" could literally just be about cleaning, not necessarily lyrics to the song to launch the album. Confused and curious.

Absolutely. "It's us, the middle aged fans, that listen to her music, and I find those kind of lyrics a little immature and not artistically deep or clever." I also don't like the "three h. a. h". It ruins the song a bit. It sounds vulgar, as a teen I wouldn't care but I prefer lyrics without that. I enjoy the remixes, but I hope the next song has more mature lyrics. I'm tired of swear words in music. I don't need it, trend or not.

I hope you're right, but I think Bill is closest to the truth. She has taken the safe turn for years, and it's like that for most of the people in the music industry.
With TD I was so thirsty for something new, that I swallowed the song for a day or two, but it was soon forgotten. I do agree that the lyrics doesn't fit her age or the style I wished for, but I'm not the one making the songs or decisions. I don't think a lot of teenagers will discover her music and think of her as brilliant or fresh. It's us, the middle aged fans, that listen to her music, and I find those kind of lyrics a little immature and not artistically deep or clever.
So, let's hope you're right B.

I like Type Dangerous (The Remix of the Gods) because it felt nostalgic to listen to those voices again. I don't listen to a lot of rap music, but I remember in high school my cousin and best friend did. So I recognize those voices. I wish they would have included her second verse, though. It's a remix, who cares if it's a little long?

Type: Dangerous is like Touch My Body. It's a little superficial but fun. That's what the general public likes, apparently. TMB sold a ton. I'm sure the new album will have more robust material on it. I wish we had a release date.

I believe you're right Shezz. Now if MC does another video today and gives us more pieces to puzzle. The 2nd single is supposed to have a beat and MC made it clear that she likes the beat. So what if we are about to get another slow burning intro like Fantasy, You're So Cold, and You Don't Know What To Do?

Mariah's been saying that same tired old sentence with every album she's put out since Butterfly. Okay Tommy directed your first five albums and made you sing pop orientated ballads. We get it. You've made 10 albums since. What would be a good change of pace is her saying "I've collaborated with [name of hot new producer] and have handed the reigns over to them, putting my complete trust in their vision." Then I'd be interested in the output. Something tells me we're getting another album of same RnB with samples, a few rap features, and an introspective ballad thrown in somewhere. Prove me wrong Mariah.

The problem with Type: Dangerous (109,774)
by Brad from USA
| |
|
|
There is simply nothing uniquely Mariah about this "song". Her name and voice are a "brand" at this point and there is a listener expectation of something unique to her sound or abilities with every song. Most of her songs deliver that. Type: Dangerous does not. Any person could sing this "song", as it never results in a moment that is identifiably Mariah. It's bland, generic and in some places crass. Does anyone really want to hear a 56 year old Mariah calling people "hatin ass hoes"? Apparently not. Not to mention ya don't do that as a mother when you have a teenage daughter. Bad move, Mariah. We all know she can do better while still being "on trend". This song is just garbage. And it reflects poorly on her judgment that she didn't realize it before putting it out. Let's hope for better from MC16.

By the way, what does Mariah mean when she says this new project lets her create music freely on her own terms? I do believe this will be the most unmanaged album of her career (it took 7 years to even get to this stage). But I thought she created Butterfly, Rainbow, Glitter, Charmbracelet and TEOM pretty much freely without that much oversight or am I missing something? Even MIAMTEC was probably very unmonitored.
It's like she always goes back to the first three album narrative of being controlled every time she releases something new, unless those above albums (the later years) still had heavy input by their respective labels?
I am low key excited to hear what a completely free and unsupervised (on her own terms) body of work will sound like. But again, then what is LA Reid's role who is exec producing it?

Interesting about Caution. And yet I find it her most tightest well put together album since Butterfly. Personally I like her albums where she had guidance. My worry is that if MC16 doesn't live up to her and Gamma's expectation she will once again say that her next one MC17 will be her most free and on her own terms she's ever made.
