Mara that's funny, I actually thought of Breathe Again when I heard Long As I Live. Unless you meant Deadwood, the flow of that I can hear Seven Whole Days in now that you mention that song.

Eric, Reuben is just picking old posts at random and replying to them. I'm going to ask him three questions whose answers lie deeply buried in three unique ancient posts very hard to find. If he's really reading all those messages, he should know the answers, but I doubt it. Here it goes: Reuben,
1. Which song from E=MC2 should've been a single? (hint: "Rae Rae, Shawntae and Mae Mae")
2. What is Licia's favorite album? (sorry, no hint here)
3. What is the name of the song used against Andy to get him banned from the messageboard? (hint: Martin Luther King Junior)

Re: Memoirs, Rainbow and MIAMTEC (80,947) (80,949) by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
In the last 24 hours, Reuben read 18,000 messages. This must be a world record. If he has slept 8 hours, then he read 19 messages per minute. And don't forget he replied to 15 of them. I think I myself would go crazy reading so many messages in such a short time.

Memoirs singles, to be more current, should've gone: after
1. Obsessed (which was top 10 in the US so if it ain't broke don't fix it)
2. Ribbon
3. More Than Just Friends
4. Standing O
Or some other order of the above.

Hmmm mine was going to be "Didn't I just see you get arrested in Florida?" but yours is so much more erudite.

Re: Mariah Carey's HIV+ sister (80,943) (80,945) by Edward from USA
Reuben, don't make me cyber-slap you into next week. Stating the date the message was posted won't cut it, just copy and paste the original message in quotes followed by your reply. Ok, let me give you an example:

"Andrew, Book of Lambs, Chapter (80,942)
Eddie Eddie Eddie. You remember that thing you said about somethin' in like 2014, the thing bout that Mariah thing? Well I didn't like it. Splain yourself, please."

And then my reply would be one of the stupidest movie lines I've ever heard:

Andrew, love is never having to say I'm sorry.

See how easy eat it is.

Reuben just has a lot of feeling (80,942) by Edward from USA
Reuben just wishes we could all get along like we used to in middle school. He wishes he could bake a cake filled with rainbows and smiles and everyone would eat and be happy. He's been replying to those old messages because he just has a lot of feelings. There's nothing wrong with that. With the flu and a few splashes the nostalgia has gotten to him. Te queremos, Reuben.

Obsessed on EMC2 (80,941) by T from USA
I wish she came up with Obsessed during the E=MC2 sessions with the Dream. I think it fits that album much better. Skydiving could've taken its place on Memoirs.

If going that far back in messages perhaps he could copy and paste the original message, so his reply will be able to be understood better.

Thank you for this. Re-ignited my love for Toni. I've had it on repeat all day. Took a couple of listens to get me totally hooked.

Reuben has also replied to a message posted 13 months ago! Since then, there are 9,000 messages posted. Maybe he has the flu and started reading all the messages posted here. So the next few days you can expect replies to messages posted 10 years ago.

Re: Everyone asking: why open for Lionel? (71,654) (80,937) by Reuben Walton from United States
Don't lump "Side Effects (feat. Jeezy)" in with those songs. At least "Side Effects (feat. Jeezy)" has two verses done by Mariah only and a hook and a bridge by her and the guest rapper is in the proper proportion to her lead vocals quantitatively.

Re: Toni Braxton - Long As I Live (80,918) (80,935) by Mara from United States
Yes to this. I downloaded Toni's second song the day it came out. I love it, and along with Deadwood, kept it on repeat for a while. I think that sounds like Babyface in the background too. Toni and Babyface go hand in hand like Elton John and a piano. If these two songs are any indication of the sound of Toni's new album, then it is indeed classic Toni and classic R&B and I love that sound. It is so easy to listen to and her voice is so smooth and sultry. Taking me back to Seven Whole Days sound. I love it.

Re: T4 music special (2009) (80,917) (80,934) by Mara from United States
MusicfanJ, I love your post and always agree with what you say. This is so true in every way. Living everyday life is hard enough sometimes, I can never imagine what it must be like living it with daily scrutiny and especially in this day of social media where things hit the internets before you can blink. At least in the 90's if something happened, you would only hear about it on the news that night or the following week in gossip magazines, then it was somewhat forgotten with the next headline. In today's age, it's online forever and imortalized in memes and twitterverse. God forbid your weight fluctuates, blink when the camera captures you, miss a note at a show, cough during a performance, have a bad day, have insane family members selling stories, go through a divorce, have a bad fashion day or two or year and lastly, be human and possibly have a health issue you may have to deal with. Whatever it may be, first and foremost they are still human. I joke with my family about Facebook and say "thank God it wasn't around when I was in high school" I think I would die if every single thing I did in high school was posted online. Not that it was horrible but I can only image how hard it is now for celebrities. Mariah, for all that she has been through, is one of the if not the strongest women in the business. She also happens to be my "thinspiration" at the moment with how amazing she is looking. If she can get back to looking this good at her age, then I can pull it off too.

Re: Gay icon status (76,243) (80,931) by Reuben Walton from United States
Shouldn't songs be somewhat open to interpretation? Especially when, as Mariah often does (not necessarily for "Outside" though), the artist says they want the song to be something people can take from and relate to, in addition to being somewhat autobiographical? Aren't feelings of differentness like what she describes in "Outside" kind of universally understood, regardless of what the specific reason(s) she personally had for feeling that way? I mean, a song shouldn't have to be "Born This Way" for it to be allowed to be thought of as a gay anthem. That's kind of an oddly rigid way of thinking about music and art, things that are often free-flowing and subject to the ebbs and flows and whims of emotion and human experience.

Re: Biggest concern (77,059) (80,930) by Reuben Walton from United States
I find your commentary refreshing. When did she smoke though? I know she talks about how she did in like the late 1980s, and there's been talk about her partying during the late 1990s (Butterfly era to 2000ish), and the mention of "purple takin' me higher" in "It's like that". Are there other periods I'm missing during which she smoked? I like how you refuse to accept the "and we're gonna linger on, gonna linger on" as a replacement for what it's supposed to be in ABMB. That's one of the refreshing things that stuck out. I always listen to the live renditions with my mind being aware of what the album versions are like, but I think I go from "dissappointment-to-acceptance" in the space of a couple seconds max whenever I hear one of those less-satisfying line deliveries. I'm back to posting on here because UKMix.com has been down today.

I agree with you Edward (on Ed) and I am certainly not saying Mariah fans can't be frustrated. I just find it futile, and unfulfilling. I'd rather be happy. lol I think I have almost everything Ed had done in my library, with the exception of a couple of single releases (which are already on full albums). Tried to get tickets to see him last summer, in the city closest to me, but the show sold out in under 5 minutes. One day.
