Thanks. All I could remember was it was a football game.

Mimi performed the halftime show at a Detroit Lions playoff game. It was corny, but cute. Hehe.

Lol someone said it's as if he knew he was dying soon the way he is spilling and dgaf. He has his own issues and old gossip though, but his comments on music do interest me.

I just want to point out that all those lawsuits (except for Hero) were based on the melody not the actual lyrics, but I get where you were going with it. Sampling shouldn't have anything to do with songwriting but they neglected to credit the original composers on a a couple of those songs on the Emotions album. The Can't Let Go case was droppped when it was proven that there are tons of songs released before "Right Before My Eyes" that used similar cords. Taylor Dayne and Lionel Richie both had songs with similar chords released prior so they slowly retreated. TGIFU melody does sound like a straight rip off, probably why she does a stripped down version for Vegas which I prefer over the original composition.

That interview with Quincy is savage as [censored]. I almost find it hard to believe. He dated Ivanka? Talking about Michael the way he does. Marlon Brando giving the meat to Richard Prior? It's all so over the top and he names so many names. He's "I know something you don't know" taunting tones was getting to me.

Re: Songwriters hall of fame snub (80,842) (80,849) by Bill from the UK
Not that I subscribe to the theory, but Mariah does have a, shall we say, chequered history when it comes to her songwriting credits. Emotions vs Best of My Love. Can't Let Go vs Right Before My Eyes. Make It Happen vs I Want To Thank You. Hero, Thank God I Found You, It's Like That, all had lawsuits against them (multiple in Hero's case). Her bigger hits rely on sampling to help carry the melody (Dreamlover, Fantasy, Honey, Heartbreaker, The Roof, Loverboy, I could go on). So yeah. Hashtag just saying but I'm sure people consider these things. I personally think she should be inducted for AIWFCIY alone.

Quincy Jones (80,848) by RibbonB from USA
Wow, there is a new interview out with Quincy with Vulture. It is a must read. He is giving old curmudgeon gives zero [censored] tea. He says MJ was a music thief and disses Ratner, Weinstein and many others esp. Trump.

Re: Can't Let Go (80,828) (80,847) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I totally agree. I love soul, rnb and jazz music. But when Mariah is doing pop music, it's another thing. She's simply the best when she's making "pop-soul". Never liked Tommy, but it's true during his years Mariah was delivering music that goes straight to your heart and she did soulful pop gems that will stay forever.

Hi all. Mariah Carey must be going broke or her career is up the creek because she is playing at the local pub for money lol. Sandstone Point Hotel is a qld pub hahahahahaha.

Re: Superbowl, really? (80,826) (80,845) by Andrew from UK
Basically, as I previously stated, Mariah is lazy. Someone slowly moving around a stage with her arm being held by a man to steady her, blinking incessantly with a crazy fixed grin, pretending to sing and occasionally shouting "EH" does not a spectacle make.

Re: Songwriters hall of fame snub (80,842) (80,844) by Licia from USA
I knew this was coming. I would have loved for them both to have been included because they both deserve it, but unfortunately that's not how it worked out. To act as if he had no hits before working with Mariah is not right. I hope she gets her time sooner rather than later, but for now let that man have his moment. I'm sure she's happy for her friend despite not being inducted yet.

Songwriters hall of fame snub (80,842) by CDC from CA
How upsetting that in the year in which the floodgates were opened for women's rights in the entertainment business not a single woman was on the inductee list. Well done for Jermaine Dupri but, really? His biggest hits were really Mariah hits so they should have pulled it together and put her in. Putting them both in would have been a nice, if even a cleaver suspect gesture. I guess in black and white terms Jermaine has had more hip hop credibility and that was the narrative of inclusion the voting body wanted to convey but really... his catalogue is 50% time stamped mild hip hop r&b fusion and 50% Mariah. As an inductee he better pull his weight and get the voting body to induct Mariah next year.

I love One Child. I remember playing the album in its entirety for the first time, one song after the other. That song was the first song I remember standing out to me. Yes, thank heavens for her Christmas albums.

Deedre you're hardly a negative Nancy like most if us are so you're allowed a moment to offer a not so popular opinion. I'm 50/50 on this. On the one hand I do think she could do it if she was really dedicated to it, but on the other I have to agree that being the type of artist that she is it may not translate well with the Superbowl audience. It would be interesting as heck to see if she could pull it over though.

People might hate me for saying this, but I just don't think the Superbowl is the type of gig where Mariah would be comfortable. Mariah has an incredible instrument when she's rested and taking really good care of herself, but she's a singer. She's not really known for putting on the type of stage show that the Superbowl asks for. Could she perform there? Sure. But, I don't think the Suerbowl is the right venue for the style of artist Mariah is on stage.

I really really love this song and Love Takes Time, and have absolutely loved listening to the stripped down versions of her catalogue on YouTube. I've thought for years now a stripped down album of songs reminiscent of unplugged, but tailored to what she is able to do vocally. Interspersed with a "storytellers" approach between songs where she offered insights into her writing process for each song would be really lovely. Could be both an album and a live concert. Great way to bring attention to her as a songwriter.

The actual honoree were announced today and even though MC did not get selected this year, I am happy for JD because out of the hip hop power players his contributions and accomplishments always get overlooked.

Queen of music for superbowl 2019 (80,831) by Mariahsbaby from usa
Andrew if [you're] talking about someone, please use their name since nobody is afraid to use yours. I'm Elias lol. Celine for Superbowl, does she even have uptempo songs? No hits and no memorable songs unless she plans to sing "My heart will go on for 13+ minutes". Mariah Carey could easily do the Superbowl and I know she would invite few guests. Katy didn't dance a bit on hers. Mariah has the voice, the name and the songs to really make a halftime people would talk about in years. I agree her dancing could be stronger but that's why we have Bryan now. We can make it happen. Also sad to see no women getting inducted to songwriters hall of fame. They snubbed Mariah. I'm really convinced that the industry hates Mariah just as much as Andrew. Oh well anyways Mariah is more relevant and successful than all of the people who got inducted. But I also noticed that Babyface was first nominated 2016 and lost but won his in 2017 so there is still a chance.
