She's completely lost it (78,424)
by jaker20 from US
| |
|
|
She's become so lazy it seems, just coasting on the benefits of the 90s. She can't sing live, she can't move, she's not had a proper single in a decade (debatable because to me it's much longer), has not properly promoted a song, has not had a solid album in a long time. Everything is about what she's wearing, and being sexy. She's become a poor man's Pamela Anderson who is 50 now. Mariah is a complete and absolute joke now. Every performance is followed by the public mocking her. Its actually embarrassing these days to be called an Mariah fan. Tragic. But hey, she's "worked hard in the past, so she's got nothing to prove". That none-sense has crippled her creativity. Much older performers did well in the past, but Mariah completely losing it is self-imposed.

Re: Why was Mariah on stage? (78,421) (78,423)

I remember when she was not. She was simply the greatest singer and most fascinating woman in the music business. I don't know what happened that so many things has become "questionable". And I'm on a point where I'm not sure if I want to know it. There's much pain inside of her, she's still hiding. All I know is that she can do much better if she wants to. It's like in "Triumphant", I don't count her out. Never.

If she is a joke, then why are you still here bitching and moaning about her. If Mimi is doing a disservice to her fans, then why are you still a fan? You could have left her (and this website) alone and supported another artist. I personally think some of these "fans" are too scared to do that. Face it, you won't dare to go after Beyoncé like this.

Why was Mariah on stage? (78,421)
by Andrew from UK
| |
|
|
She didn't sing, she didn't dance, she didn't move her facial muscles, she didn't fit into her outfit. What was she doing there? Seriously, she can't even croak out Honey in tune? I can fart that song. Being walked about by dancers because she can't walk herself is beyond the pale. She is a laughing stock. To pretend she is not, and it is not deserved, is disingenuous. She is now universally known for being shit at what she does. *sigh* Remember when Mariah wasn't a joke?

Article: Mariah is stiff as a board in Hip Hop Honors performance (78,420)
by Lee from USA
| |
|
|
If Adele, Aretha, and a lot of these neo-soul artists are stiff on stage, why is Mimi expected to dance on stage? Last time I checked, she was on tour and doing these other projects when most of her peers were kicking back. As long she could sing, then that's the only thing that should matter. I am happy that she showed up instead of being on Skype. If the writer expected Mariah to pull a Janet Jackson-like routine, then he or she is truly a dumbass. .

The outfit was to honor the video Honey. When she jumps out the water. That's why she unzipped herself. It was part of the theme. Clearly she's heavier, I get it. She tried to give us a fun moment, stiff and all. I wish she would've moved more but we ain't never gonna get that, at this rate. Lmfao. Oh Mariah, how we love you and want a little more confidence.

I wouldn't be as enthusiastic as this article, but then again this is written by VH1 so of course they are. The new arrangement of Honey is better than I expected. She walked unassisted for a couple of steps. She looked really pretty. But unfortunately that's about all the good I can say of this number. The outfit was ill-advised. I really hope Mariah gets her slimmer figure back. I do not mean this as fat-shaming, but she just seems more confident moving around when she's in better shape, as if the weight seems to make her feel more self-conscious about movement. She could have feigned some of the moves from the Honey video, but she chose to just stand/sit wherever she was all throughout. When everything around you is dynamic, the least you could do is to attempt to exude even just half of the energy around you. The whole thing just seemed really awkward and laborious. The camerawork, the dancers and the great song itself saved the "performance", if you could call it that. To perform, you actually have to look like you wanna be there and deliver. Imagine what it would have been if there were no props and minimal camera movement? For someone who has been touring almost nonstop since 2014, she looks like she could hardly be bothered for this one number. Honey is a fantastic song from a career-defining album. Both deserve better than this. The least one could do is strut. Strike that - the least one could do is sway.

Why? Why does Mariah slay on the Lionel tour and Vegas but on TV she comes across as scared and stiff? 28 years in the game, come on hunnie. This could have been pure slayage

It wasn't so bad. I do wish she would have moved around more. As much as some of us dislike the Honey dance, you just can't really do the song without it. Never knew how much I needed her to do the dance until now. The prop boyfriend twirl makes sense after watching the full performance, but everyone knows how much he irks my soul so I refuse to say anything nice about him. Lol. I liked how she rearranged the song to fit current Mariah voice. I really enjoyed seeing The Lox, Brat, JD, and Mase.

I hope we get to see Mariah move around the stage unassisted. I do not know why but I get really uncomfortable watching the dancers take her by the arms/elbows and lead her around the stage.

Here's hoping (78,411)

The first was promised as a true docuseries and opened to huge ratings. When she didn't deliver as promised ratings dropped like a rock. So, maybe she's doing it right this time? Also, I think some are coming at this from a wrong angle. MC had promised our South American lambs she'd be back, so this may be her way of getting back down there. Her first B.fly tour was only 13 dates, so it's possible this tour will only last a couple of months or less. If there's cameras on her again I guess this means she's getting back in shape, working on her vocals, and preparing the next great album by revisiting her Butterfly era. I loved her look of this time period. The gold goddess look. The mother nature color tones. I would love to see MC in the multi colored hair of her album sleeve with her smiling - it's one of my all time favorite pics of hers.

By show I hope they mean an hour and half to two hour long documentary special that focuses only on the tour. We don't need weeks long stupidity filled charades and even if the show focused on the tour only I don't want to tune in every week. But yes we were told that the last show was going to document an actual tour and all we got was f-ckery. I won't hold out too much hope for this one.

Thanks for posting. Maybe I need to see the whole performance before I make too many comments. Right now I'm not impressed . She's just standing there and getting twirled by her prop boyfriend.

I also think it's enough with all the touring. I mean it's cool to have a "Christmas show" and the Las Vegas shows (because she could stay at one place) but she needs time to get her energy and spirit back. As an artist and musician she's not only a "working machine". She needs free time to get new ideas and I'm not talking about a perfume. MIAMTEC can't be the last album. But yes, it feels like she's tired of releasing an complete album. But I won't give up hope that there'll be another masterpiece. The reality is, it will take a long time, if she keeps her unprofessional management and lifestyle. But I'll wait for Butterfly 2.0.

My only hope is that she put in the work and actually performs. I definitely don't want her to get on TV doing the lazy dance like she did in Vegas. That was beyond embarrassing to watch.

She did a press release to announce a new album. She has talked about it in multiple interviews. Which was surprising because 2 months before the press release, she said she will only release singles but I guess the label was having none of that. The label can't just have her doing nothing if she wants to be on their label.

What's up with all this touring? When will Mariah disappear for a while and come back fresh and with new music? At some point she should give people time to miss her and whatever music she comes out with. I think her Christmas show and her Vegas residency should be enough for next year while she works on new music. Going on tour to celebrate Butterfly to sing the same old tired boring songs wouldn't make sense to me.

I gave up hope on getting a new album anytime soon. Making an album hasn't really been on her radar for a while now. Although I'm disappointed, I completely understand why she has become a touring artist. That's basically where the money is and she has to do what she has to do. The only thing I don't like is her continuously getting our hopes up about a new album when she knows that's not where she's headed. If you are still on this putting out singles to shut us up kick, then say that. Just be honest. As for this new docuseries I'm just going to let ya'll watch the first few episodes to get summaries before I attempt to watch. I'm hoping it really does document the tour and music, but due to how MW went I'm in doubt.
