Re: Concerts (78,131) - Chicago (78,156) by enwar00 from usa I went to the Chicago show last night with some friends and my sister and we all loved it and wished MC was doing a full show. Nothing against Lionel at all because we stayed through his set and he's great in his own right, but simply because Mariah left us wanting more. Honestly she sounded better than I expected, and as other have mentioned on this board, YouTube concert videos don't do her complete justice. The live experience is something else and you can connect and it plays on your senses. Did I expect to drop a tear during Hero as a grown ass man, no, but it moved me and it happened. At least I kept it together during We Belong Together, a song I can feel and relate to every single word and in hindsight I get why it was the song of the decade. I was hoping for the Love Hangover medley but Da Brat showed up to do her rap on the Heartbreaker remix so that was a cute moment, especially as she took a tumble while walking behind the background singers which made it more memorable. I suppose Mariah could try and go for more and really loosen up and perhaps she'll work her way to that point again. Hopefully. All in all despite some lipped parts and despite her barely moving I'm still glad I went and can't wait for the next tour. (Sunday 27 August 2017; 18:20)

Mariah/Lionel in Chicago (78,154) by Chicago Lamb from USA Mariah sounded great. If there was any backing track, she blended well. I got the feeling she downplayed her set, as not to out-shine her host? And as far as a duet, I have to take back what I previously thought as a "missed opportunity". Endless Love likely wouldn't work because MC's voice is bigger and stronger than Lionel's. I'm sure they have a good reason for not doing it. (Sunday 27 August 2017; 16:48)

And lately I really appreciate and enjoy "IWTKWLI". Languishing is Mariah at her best, I only wish the song [was] longer, but her interludes are always so good. I read somewhere (not sure where, maybe a comments section or something) that one of the reasons the music video for Boy is the disjointed, narrative-less thing that it is is that half of its scenes were meant to be part of the originally planned second single The One (which was supposed to be a little gangster-themed and more serious in nature) and that you can practically identify those scenes apart from the ones purposely shot for Boy. I also recall reading a comment that Mariah was almost arrested for filming in Japan without a permit at that time. Someone please tell me whether or not any of these things are true. It's simply just basically the same couple of notes sung the same way. Have you ever seen the episode of Friends where Ross plays the bagpipes and Phoebe screeches along. That is mildly preferable to The One. In fact, Ross is the music, Phoebe is Mariah and I'm Jennifer Aniston who can't fight back the laughter. But even Ross had a right to dream.
