Re: Re: Gay anthem? Gay icon (76,194) (76,218) (76,233) by B from USA
She's donated to Elton and Elizabeth Taylor's AIDS charities and sported the red ribbon to raise awareness. Unlike other artist who use their charitable acts to gain support or sympathy. This a list of charities Mariah's has made donations to:
Aid Still Required
American Foundation for AIDS Research
American Heart Association
American Stroke Association
Andre Agassi Foundation for Education
BID 2 BEAT AIDS
Clothes Off Our Back
Elevate Hope Foundation
Elton John AIDS Foundation
Feeding America
Fresh Air Fund
Grammy Foundation
Hale House Center
Human Rights Campaign
Kids Wish Network
Live 8
Make-A-Wish Foundation
MusiCares
Music Rising
Operation Smile
Red Cross
Save The Music Foundation
Stand Up To Cancer
TJ Martell Foundation
United Negro College Fund
United Service Organization
World Hunger Relief
Needless to say Mariah Carey is a gay icon who wrote the ultimate gay anthem Outside. You're welcome. Before you make statements make sure you can back them up with facts.

I saw that. I thought it was really nice. It would be great for Mariah to do more things like this. It's fun and charitable.

The older fans at MCArchives appreciate your diss. Thanks for being one of us. And I don't know where in Alaska you live, but this website is a true reflection of her fans. Yes, the fans that actually buy her music, no those click-fans that flood Mariah's social media accounts by the millions but never purchase shit she releases. In my opinion, you are bleak to come here and complain on a platform you so vividly abhor. Besitos.

Does anybody know what's going on with the latest Instagram pic? A collection to celebrate pride? I have a feeling it has nothing to do with music.

I loved them as a couple. She was doing so great when they were together. I loved the way she looked back then. I found a site with some lovely pictures of them both. She looked so happy and very natural. Enjoy it.

This board is beyond bleak (sorry webmaster). I only come on here for the news since the people who talk the most crap have the latest information. This board is just older fans who followed MC in the 90's and in my opinion not a true reflection of her fan base. No one searches websites anymore and the majority of her fans interact through social media. I've learned to get my news from this site and move along as it's depressing. It seems likes it's a competition of who can make the best diss in order to get the most likes. Who can be the most creative with putting her down.

Re: Gay anthem? Gay icon (76,221) (76,224) by MC1989 from Spain
It's very easy to use our flags and our colors, like many companies and some political parties do nowadays, stealing our identities and apropriating our codes to do what is called pinkwashing. Mariah is gay-friendly, and she can be considered as a music icon who's loved - and hated - by many gay people, but I don't see her as a gay icon like Cher or Madonna, who had been supporting the LGTBI community long time before it was a trendy cause to fight for. In my opinion, Mariah's apoliticism conflicts with the idea of a gay icon. By the way, many of these called divas had been making profits from gay people for decades, and it's a shame that when they are asked, or when it comes to deffend the LGTBI cause, they are only able to make vague speeches full of clichés. P.S: Madonna and Cher should perform for free at the World Pride this year after all this time making profits from gay people.

I wouldn't call her fat but out of shape and living a unhealthy lifestyle. And her drinking isn't helping her. Alcohol makes you bloat and gain weight.

Re: You're Mine (Eternal) (76,187) (76,222) by B from USA
I love You're Mine (Eternal). However, it paid been produced by a new producer, a current producer it would have been huge. Imagine if it was produced by Happy Perez, who produced #Beautiful, he would have seamlessly updated her signature sound and made it more radio friendly. I imagine it sounding Motownish like #Beautiful.

Mariah's a gay icon because she's openly supported gays and employeed them since she began in the industry. She named an album Rainbow.

Re: Curves (76,206) (76,220) by B from USA
I don't think needs to lose weight, she needs a breast reduction and to stop using fillers. My brother says she looks hot in the I Don't video and that he loved the song and doesn't understand why it's not playing on the radio. I told him ageism and sexism and no support from her label. Mariah doesn't need Sony, Sony needs Mariah. Mariah bought the masters to her Columbia/Sony catalogue in 2005. They only really profit when she's on their label and they're releasing her albums. She was even able to include her #1's during her tenor at IDJ on the updated release of #1 To Infinity. She's still a force to be reckoned with in the industry based on friends and her back catalogue. However, she needs a new manager that is well connected in the industry and she needs to rehire (by begging) Cindi Berger and Nash (if he was apart of Stella's mass firing of Mariah's former team). Stella and her family are bad for business and if Mariah's all about money she can find a manager that can make her a lot more money that Stella. Stella isn't trying to help Mariah she's using Mariah and it's plain as day. Everyone notices but Mariah it seems. Someone needs to tweet Nick his opinion on Mariah's new team and how they were able to get Mariah [censored] Carey do to a reality show.

I remember Mariah talking about her guncles in the early 90's. During interviews during the debut era. She said she left most at home at their house as a child.

Seriously, do some of you as lambs go back over and read your own comments? From just the last few pages on here, I get Mariah is fat, she dresses bad, people hate Tanaka (whom she's clearly happy with and isn't going anywhere as far as I can see), she can't sing, she,s an alcoholic, the list goes on, this is Mariah Carey people. I read comments on here, and wonder if she actually has any support anymore, most lambs seem to be out for the kill on one point or another, how about showing nothing but love and if you can't maybe come back when you feel she is living up to your expectations, the comments taken below from other lambs posts on here I just SMH. "It saddens me to say this but I almost want to see her fail with the upcoming album and lose it all." "Now we're back to look at my nipples, thongs, fake boy toy, and watching her overall embarrass herself." "She needs to sober up and start working with a vocal coach and trainer asap." "She has been a sell out and hungry for attention for a long time now." After those comments you call yourself a supporter how? Certainly hope Mariah doesn't come in here to read all this nonsense from her "supporters".

How magical Mariah's vocals are on this track. I think it's her crowning glory. Not her song. Only on it for a little while. But insanely magical. Who could do it like she did it? Who could steal the show in a few seconds? Kitchen windows and tea need to disappear. Mariah, find your soul again.

Re: Mariah's weight (76,213) (76,214) by Licia from USA
Good points Giselle. Being a bigger woman (yes I'm a fatty, lol) I am in no position to hassle Mariah about her weight. Even when she's bigger I'd hardly call her fat. I've seen many fans go on and on about it, but the problem is not her weight. As you said it's her fashion choices. No matter how small or big she is if she doesn't wear things that fit whatever body she has, she'll never look right.

Mariah's weight (76,213) by Giselle UrbanPoshBeauty from US of A
There's definitely a difference in European standards bs American standards when it comes to "weight". To say Mariah is "fat" and "big" is like saying Kim K's booty is real. It also bugs me when men wether straight or gay feel the need to tell a woman she's fat or needs to lose weight. If Mariah is comfortable in her skin then let the woman live. Also Mariah is many things but fat/big isn't one of them. She's not as skinny like she used to be but she still looks good. I think for the clothes she wants to wear vs should be wearing maybe losing a few pounds would help. She simply needs to find a good stylist who can dress her for the shape in the mirror vs what's in her head. True T.

Re: Mariah - gay icon (76,209) (76,210) (76,212) by Andrew from UK
I always admire your sentiments as being grounded in reality. As a gay guy, you probably don't feel negative towards Mariah for not being pro-gay - to be disappointed that someone doesn't advance or subscribe to your own cause is ridiculous. But a spade is a spade. Mariah avoids politics like the plague. Gay icon she is not. Someone loved by gays she is. Talking like Yoda I am.

Re: Gay anthem? Gay icon (76,209) (76,211) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
I really enjoying reading everyones perspective on this. It's very true, is MC truly a gay icon, or does she simply love her gay fans? I do remember Mariah doing an interview in Canada openly supporting gay marriage back '06 (we had just legalized gay marriage in 2005), and also over the years celebrating gay couples in her audience, like when she brought the couple on stage for the proposal, and then of course her gaungles who were on the only strong relationship she witness as a child. I've personally always seen Mariah as a private/personal gay icon, where she is publicly apolitical, but through her music, lyrics, and conducts helps to build up and encourage her gay lambs from the background. She's not out there like Gaga making waves and smashing boundaries. But on a personal level she has. However I suppose whether you're gay, a person of colour, or societally disadvantaged, she does the same thing for you. One thing, there is no doubt she has inspired the drag scene ascetically. She's not at the forefront of the gay movement, but she's done her quiet part by empower her gay fans, who have then gone out into the world and made waves.

Mariah - gay icon (76,209) (76,210) by ADAM from USA
Don't get it twisted. Whatever Mariah is peddling to the gay audience whether it's nail polish or makeup, she's pandering for money. Not authenticity. She has been a sell out and hungry for attention for a long time now. This lifestyle she's subscribed to by way of Stella and co is her downfall. She's not making real music and does not deserve a cent from the gay audience. It's disrespectful to me. I wish she would just either put out good music or just be with her family in private. But she loves the limelight too much and clearly doesn't have any friends not on the payroll to tell her the truth.

Re: Mariah - gay icon (76,205) (76,209) by Alex from United States
Mariah supported gay marriage before it was popular. I remember her doing an interview talking about her guncles. I believe their names were Bert and Ernie or something close to it. She said they were the closest thing to a healthy relationship that she had during her childhood. You also have to remember this was a time when it was cool to use homophobic lyrics in music. i.e. Eminem. I've also seen Mariah celebrate a gay couple on her stage as the one guy proposed to his boyfriend. I also want to mention that I love the fact that Mimi does her best to stay out of politics and I feel like a lot of celebrities exploit the gay fan bases. Mariah is authentic without over doing it and I'm excited to see her pride collection in 5 days.
