Re: Michael Jackson (73,063) (73,066)
by Edward from USA

Exactly, he was more than a dancer and a vocalist, he was a genius. He was a visonary and a great lyricist. His videos were epic. Besides his voice, people went to see the show, the super production. He was a real showman, just like Madonna and Beyonce are in their concerts. Mariah and Whitney on the other hand relied on their voices, they couldn't dance, but they could sing you out of the stadium with their powerful voices. Once Whitney lost her voice, she didn't have anything to entertain with anymore and people started walking out of her concerts. People go to Mariah's concerts to hear her voice and her songs. There's nothing special about her cheap stage and her dancers, with the exception of her Christmas shows. It's like Sarah Mclaughlin. I love the woman, but she only has her voice. People go to see her on her piano singing with that beautiful voice of hers. She doesn't dance or do anything else. Now imagine if she started faking her piano playing and lipping most of her songs? Total disaster.

Who needs a label? A reality show would do (73,065)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
If she really didn't need a record deal, she wouldn't have one, period, but she obviously does. There's a lot that goes on behind to promote artists and their music. Mariah has total creative control of everything she does with her music, and I think that's backfiring somehow. Record labels do not have the big budgets they used to have to promote artists that wouldn't listen or are stuck on stupid with their bridge burning tirades. At the end of the day, Mariah is doing everything she can to be relevant, but great music. There's nothing wrong with a record label focusing on projects and artists who are actually justifying the need of a label. At this point, with or without record deal, it's kind of the same for Mariah. She's not doing anything worth putting money into. The few coins she probably made from "I Don't" wouldn't justify money spent on any type of promotion and events created for the purpose or making things happen for her. I guess there's nobody to blame this time, Mariah seems to be sabotaging herself. If I were L.A., and with her propensity to blame others for the outcome of her bad decisions, I wouldn't want to be seen hanging out with her. He is dealing with business, with artists that are still interested in the Grammys and other award shows. When Mariah and Stella make the comments they make, how do you think her label peers feel about it? Would you go near her cuckoo circle? I don't think so.

It's pretty clear she has from pictures. Barbra Streisand once said she would never get a nose job, despite being a prime candidate for one lol, because it would have a detrimental effect on her singing voice.

Michael Jackson (73,063)

This is totally irrelevant but since the issue of lip-syncing keeps coming up on this board every now and then, I'm wondering how come in the case of Michael Jackson, who from the 1990s onwards was lip-syncing ninety percent of his shows, it was never an issue. Sure, he was a dancer as much as he was a singer, but you get my point.

I first noticed the change in her nose while she was doing an interview while promoting "You're Mine", especially when she would smile. I also suspect that this affects the way she sings. If you look at earlier videos and interviews, there have been subtle changes through the years.

Yeah I think she has if you look at older videos from when she started out you can see a difference. Also I think when she had it done her singing voice changed especially when hitting certain notes. Leona Lewis had a nose job too and she can't seem to hit the notes she could before if you watch her live videos, so nose surgery must effect your singing voice.

Nose (73,060)
by Billy from Greece
| |
|

I've been wondering for a while whether MC has had a nose job. Sometimes, it looks just as it's always been so we can assume it is make-up and camera angles that makes it look different, or just the way her face has changed over the years. Some other times, though, it looks significantly thinner and smaller. Not that it matters, but occasionally it confuses me. If she's had one, she probably had it before the Charmbracelet era kicked in judging from the photos available. I don't know.

Agreed. She looks great. Pictures of Mariah's face not featuring a huge pair of fake tits below it are so rare they seem throwback.

The Sun is owned by Murdoch's Need International and is Britain's most circulated newspaper with a readership of something like 2 million. It may not be The Times when it comes to the in depth nature of its journalism but it's not disregarded as having false stories. As with all newspapers of this kind there is embellishment, so to speak. However, aside from calling the SSFT "disastrous", everything Dan Wooten has reported is on point and can be backed up with evidentiary support. Your construction of The Sun as OK in your head and dismissal is the actual impact this article will have on Mariah is, again, an example of how you (and others) will quickly spin anything in your head to create a fantasy land of unicorns and rainbows.

This is starting to give more and more credibility to Mariah dodging L.A.'s calls. I'm not saying Stella confiscated her phone, but they probably were ignoring his calls and calls from the label. Honestly since Mariah is saying a lot that she doesn't have an album in mind and Epic will obviously think about business, if this goes on she might get dropped. L.A. not saying anything about MC is quite alarming since they are not only business associates but long time friends. MC should think about what she wants, because as it is, she already had to settle for less than her asking price when she signed this deal, which may mean other labels will offer even less if anything at all.

At this point I don't think it matters if she loses her contract nor do I believe she cares. She said herself she's not putting out an album. She's just doing singles in between her touring. *shrugs *

The thing is Mariah doesn't need a record label. Her wealth and fame is big enough, plus with her 27 years (and counting) in the industry. What she desperately needs is a badass team, not these pathetic excuses Mariah surrounds herself with. Problem is she seems to be delusional as of now. Her bubble is so thick I can almost see it. Somebody pop her bubble please, let her truly emancipate. Ain't nobody gon' tell me that this is the real Mariah.

Michael Cinco talks about dressing Mariah (73,048)
by Geronimo from USA

For some strange reason, I really love this article. Maybe it's because custom made, high end designer clothing in Dubai is a semi-normal and routine part of Mariah Carey's crazy world. I am so far from being able to relate to her lifestyle that it is easy to forget that glamour and spectacle is and always has been part of the showbiz world. I guess Mariah is old-school like that. Damn, if I were in her position what would I have somebody design for me?

Hmm, I noticed on L.A Reid's twitter page there is no mention of Mariah and no promotion of I Don't, however he is promoting the hell out of artists like Future, DJ Khaled, and Keyshia Cole. L.A even got pic of him and JLo at Benny Medina's birthday party. To me, this speaks volumes. Got a feeling Mariah is about to loose her record contract. Oh boy.

Compassion for Mariah (73,041)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|
|
I actually do have a lot of compassion for Mariah. She is a gifted singer and composer. She usually has a fun personality and I love how she interacts with her children. My compassion just doesn't extend to this current team of people around her. I do wish they would get it together and help Mariah rather than hurt her image. Mariah is way off on the tone and the times, or at least it seems so especially in comparison to how she used to profess to be. I do wish Mariah well, but the rest are not doing their jobs well at all, so they can kick rocks. Mariah and Roc and Roe deserves better. It is sad that she feels incapable of functioning in the real world that she has to invite randoms into her bubble. Friendship and love can be challenging for anyone, but this has to be multiplied many times over when money and fame are involved. I do wish that Oprah, Debbie Allen, anyone who might be a friend with influence would reach out to her and reach her.

Rae Rae, Mariah's assistant was often around, but not a whole team and entourage. This is all specific to Stella with her family around 24/7 and her family handling Mariah's finances and a dancer now promoted to personal whatever just solidifies the 24/7 supervision of MC. Nick and Mariah shared some selective things especially with the babies, but they seemed to have their own private family time. If anyone was their social media manager, it was Nick. Congrats to Nick on his new son Sagon Cannon. Hopefully Roc and Roe get to meet their new sibling very soon.
