Re: The Grammys foiled me (72,825) (72,835) by Edward from USA
Well, these things are coming out of Mariah's mouth, so she's the one making it happen. Who effing cares if the Grammy's are boring or predictable, she, as a legend, shouldn't give a damn about it. By acknowledging them, she's just bringing bad PR her way. People won't be saying she dissed the Grammy's, they'll be saying she dissed whoever was there because she's bitter. If she were really that hurt, why didn't she turn down her nominations and wins on 2006? One thing that really bothers me is that whenever Mariah is asked anything anything Adele related, she doesn't even acknowledge her. It's either she didn't hear her album, the song, or she goes off on a tangent. Adele is talented, graceful, sweet, a mega star, and on top of that she adores Mariah. Why can't she effing say something remotely nice about her. It really gets on my last nerve. Who the hell is this woman, how do one connect to her through her music anymore? She gives a good performance and she thinks the gets a bitch pass because of that? I can't, I really can't.

She won three. Best Contemporary R&B Album, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, and R&B Song of the Year.

I forgot about the biopic. Why not have Lee do the biopic? He's talented director and writer or Danny Strong, cocreator of Empire? Stella needs to run their production company and hire a professional to write and direct their films with the acception [sic] of Mariah's Hallmark movies.

Re: The Grammys foiled me (72,825) (72,832) by B from USA
In 1996 they had the camera cut to and linger on her every single time she lost and in 2006 they used her to promote the show and gave her her awards off camera.

Re: The Grammys foiled me (72,824) (72,831) by B from USA
It is possible to be sabotaged. DCP claimed there wasn't any technical issues on their end and yet they handled everything not Mariah's team. Either Mariah's team sabotaged her equipment or she was given faulty equipment. It garnered a lot of press for DCP and RNYE with Ryan. They may not have sabotaged her but they didn't do her any favors by not defending her which is probably why Stella made those claims and convinced Mariah that it was sabotage.

I thought the same thing after reading Ribbon B's post and seeing her write the word hope. All I could think was "Mariah seems hellbent on dashing all of our hope. Every time she does something that makes us think that she's taken one step forward, she does something else that proves to us she's actually taken 20 leaps backward." It's all Mariah though. NYE was a freak accident that could have happened to anyone but everything else was, and is, all Mariah. Not that things are going smoothly anyway, but it seems to me that she just can't stand for things to go well. If things are going well, she has to make it bad. If things are going bad, she has to make it worse. I wish it weren't so but I can't ignore what my own two eyes are seeing and that's a woman hellbent on making a mess of her life and career. It's an established pattern of self-sabotage at its finest.

Re: Anthony (72,813) (72,829) by RibbonB from USA
I noticed she mentioned about the background singers and that she could have borrowed one of their earpieces. She also shaded all of the dancers in a way, by saying that they just kept on dancing, but didn't dance her right off stage. I don't think she was too happy about that. I wonder if it is true that she ripped her whole team a new one right after the incident. But ultimately, she or Stella had the option to not go on until things were right, or to stop and say I can't hear a thing. I understand and felt mortified for her, I said it then, but I hope she is not being paranoid that she was foiled vs. there was just some technical problem. But yes, Anthony is doing great working with Beyonce on all of her major moments is a big deal. That chair move was epic, if a little crazy with her being pregnant though.

Sudden hate for the Grammys (72,828) by Marissa from USA
While I do believe that Mariah was definitely snubbed at the 1996 Grammys, especially considering what a smash and long-running hit One Sweet Day was, I think she came across as very rude and bitter. Her interrupting the interviewer with "do you really think I care about the Grammy's" comment before he could even finish his question as if that he follows her every move and should know her opinions on it was presumptuous and arrogant. I'm tired of these celebrities who allegedly hate awards shows, but will still submit their albums for consideration and will happily accept the awards when they do win. If she really hated the Grammy's she should have never submitted TEOM for consideration and she definitely shouldn't have accepted her awards. Stop throwing tantrums, formally boycott and give your Grammy's back if you're so outraged. Celebrities are always against stuff until they actually have to make a sacrifice. Then they're magically okay with everything. I don't understand why she came across as so angry now when she hasn't even made an album worthy of a win since TEOM.

Re: MW season 2 (72,818) (72,827) by RibbonB from USA
I also hope for no season 2. Even more than the Hallmark movies, I am concerned about Stellar doing the Mariah biopic. I don't get good vibes about that one at all. Biopics can be great, like the one for New Edition, and even Michel'e, but they can also flop if done poorly.

We have to keep trusting Mariah's intelligence (72,826) by Edouard from France
She knows what she's doing. Always has. Talented and smart.
More and more I believe that something really bad happened with her old team. They were just ready to let her career disappear and didn't put real efforts behind her work. She has so much yet to say, sing, tell the world.

Geez. Anyone notice this has become a trend lately? Every time something good happens for Mariah, something bad immediately follows. (E.g. Jimmy Kimmel, now this interview. A great Christmas run, then the NYE debacle. New music snippets at the end of MW, then the fishnet gym pictures.) It's like clockwork. What gives?

Re: The Grammys foiled me (72,806) (72,824) by Lila from United States
Strike nice. It sounded to me like she's forgotten how to be respectful, grateful, and graceful. She and so many others need to get a grip. It's the Grammy's, not The Price Is Right. It's not possible to be sabotaged, who the f~class cares if an artist was "snubbed", they're not missing out on some monetary prize, and the world has not ended just because you didn't win such and such category. To be so upset about not getting the award, you need help.

I saw that and after the interview they said there is more to come from that interview, where she discusses the NYE debacle. The reporter said she says even "crazier" stuff. Stella set the stage, now Mariah is speaking for herself it seems. I just hope her one hour Lionel set is good.

Re: Did she? (72,802) (72,822) by B from USA
The following is an excerpt from the Vanity Fair profile on Packer in which one of his friends confirm that for Packer the engagement was a publicity stunt which an unnamed Mariah source agrees with. Mariah thought it was love or at least hoped it was. The longtime friend of Packer's noted that the billionaire's engagement to Carey was a boon to him. "James got the better of that," he said. "It was for him a publicity stunt. It's made him a household name." Carey's friend agreed with this assessment: "Why does anyone in Hollywood care about James, other than the fact that he was engaged to Mariah and he's a partner in RatPac? Nobody knew who he was until Mariah."

I wouldn't. He used her for her fame. Here an interesting article from Vanity Fair about Packer in which its mentioned that he didn't love Mariah, he wanted to be seen with her and dragged her to events.

I'd worry about your own rings not if Mariah has returned her ring to James Packer. What a random thing to say.

Re: MW season 2 (72,808) (72,818) by B from USA
Nice to know she'll be performing for an hour. I hope she doesn't do a second season of Mariah's World. It was supposed to be an eight episode event, leave it at that and move on. I also hope she doesn't star in any of the upcoming Hallmark films she's contracted to direct and compose songs for because her performance in A Christmas Melody was lackluster. Maybe she can do both but directing and starring in a movie simultaneously has to be strenous.

The company you keep (72,806) (72,817) by Edward from USA
Mariah is 21 years late to be making those derogatory comments about the Grammys. At this point in her career and with the perception most people have about her, some humbleness and less attitude would do her image and career a great service. I know she's responsible for whatever she does, but she's gotten into this unapologetic mode since Stella came into her life. What she doesn't seem to realize is how that behavior pushes people away from her music. Why complain about the Grammys now and not when you got three back in 2006? Maybe because you got them, that is. She's a very good point of reference when talking about boring performances, so she shouldn't have even uttered those words. If Beyoncé's performance was boring, I don't know what I should call her performances and the cheap production of the stage of her concerts. It seems to be that the cool, down to earth, humble, classy Mariah we all grew to love is definitely gone. I thought she would be refraining from making those types of comments and play nice. If you don't like the Grammys or think they're boring, keep it to yourself, your name is not what it used to be, and burning bridges is not a good idea at this point in your career.

Re: Mariah's take on the Grammy's (72,809) (72,816) by Will from England
I don't think she was talking about Adele or Beyonce's performances. I think she was commenting on how the Grammy results themselves are predictable now. You know Adele is going to win. You know Beyonce is going to win. It wasn't really the performances. What I am surprised about was how she brought up the Daydream snub, just as we are discussing it on this board, and not the awards TEOM could and should have gotten which in comparison was more recent (and relevant?) than Daydream. Why bring that snub up?

Re: Mariah's take on the Grammy's (72,809) (72,815) by B from USA
The Grammy's are boring and predictable which is a common complaint. They awarded Taylor Swift AOTY instead of Kendrick and Adele instead of Beyonce. An argument could be made that the Grammy's are no longer an award of merit but an award that reflects sales.

Did she forget she won 2 Grammys for TEOM? She sounded happy then. I just saw the clip and her response was weird. She said she was over the snub yet she sounded bitter. She totally interrupted him before he finished the question. I think Stella is rubbing off. Adele has always praised Mariah. Mariah could've acknowledged Adele's win. But she focused on her and how she got snubbed 20 years ago. I guess it's just Mariah's World. I hate how certain things in her personality are starting to annoy me.

Mariah shaded Anthony saying someone moved my backup singers. He's doing fine without the circus though. The Beyonce performance was outstanding. I like Anthony, a very professional person.

The guys asked a normal question and she went nuts on him. There's so much anger in her. Maybe she should deal with them. It's not the guy's fault you lost in 1996. If you have a problem with the Grammy's you should have made a statement in 2006 and said sorry I'm not going because they foiled me in 1996. I guess she can't handle her career is pretty much done and all she has left is Stella's amazing projects like being a special guest on someone else's tour or that amazing reality show.

Clarification (72,811) by Marissa from USA
I just logged onto the website and realized that my original message blew up, but I just wanted to clarify that I'm not angry or offended about people thinking that this performance was boring, I simply felt that this "boring" performance was just Mariah being the Mariah she's always been. I think the difference in this performance was more noticeable because Mariah danced a lot more on the SSFT and in her Vegas residency, so I think we forgot that dancing is really not her M.O., and got spoiled by seeing her do it for a little while. I still personally do not care if she moves around a lot or not as long as the vocals are there.
