LA Reid has no choice (74,531) by T from USA
None of his artists (including JLo) are really panning out right now. He has a global superstar on his roster, someone who can actually sell and has a proven track record of that (200 million albums and records sold). So he has to put all his eggs in the MC basket. What Mariah has to do to fulfill her end of the agreement is create the songs. The songs she is capable of making. Yes some clever collaborations with the hottest quality artists but also ballads like "Butterfly", and "If It's Over". Songs that make you feel something no matter who you are. She also has to be able to put her full energy into promoting. Which has never really been a problem for her (even MIAMTEC had some promotion). She'll have to step it up though.

Letting people write songs for Mariah (74,530) by darrian liu from taiwan
I would be okay with it, but I don't think it would happen. I think Mariah is very hands-on with her creative process and the most she'd do is the regular co-writing session. I just think she needs new collaborators, because I'm getting tired of JD producing almost everything she releases. She needs fresh collabs. Write something with Sia, that's a must. Collab with Daft Punk and The Weeknd (both combined., on their own they're good but imo there's something different when they both join forces). Beyonce and Gaga are definitely nice collabs, but I think Solange would be even better than her sister in the Mariah collab, as well as Bruno. If she doesn't want to collab, then just record and produce everything by herself, no other producers (definitely no Stella). Record with a guitarist or a pianist and make one whole album showcasing the singer-songwriter side of her. I think it would be a good one.

I thought the same thing too as I indicated in my earlier post that Epic now has her in high priority again; makes us the fans heave a sigh of relief. Lol. I'm expecting this to be Mariah's return to form and yes that includes ballads. Write big songs for that big voice and unleash "The Voice" again. As Jermaine Dupri once said, "She's the one to sing when the voice needs to be heard." Right now we need that voice.

Re: I still believe / pure imagination remix (74,519) (74,528) by Terna from Nigeria
Ironically, I just listened to that remix too. Lol. It's my favorite Mariah Rap-sung collaboration ever, and In my opinion the best. She got it right with this one. It's melodic, memorable, and haunting at the same time. This remix is one of the reasons why I don't get mad when she kinda misses the mark with unnecessary ones like "#Beatiful" feat. Asap rocky or "Triumphant".

Re: LA Reid (74,523) (74,526) by B from USA
I feel it as well. I think he wants an epic era for Mariah and for himself as well. Meagan Trainor's last album flopped. What better way to end his career by masterminding Mariah's comeback, the third act of her storied career. She looks amazing and she's been sounding amazing. She just need a to write R&B Pop songs like she did in 1995 and 1997 and add some current beats and some killer fill voiced singing. The return of the voice and the songwriter. Ed Sheran's #1 single samples TLC. The 90's are huge again and Mariah was the 90"s.

Re: Mariah the songwriter (74,518) (74,525) by Andrew from UK
Doesn't it come to something when the solution for a good "era" (this word is overused, suggest "project") involves the lambs planning for Mariah making completely different music to that which she has been making for years, relying upon music executives to tell her what to do, and, now, other people to write her material for her? I'm not saying I disagree. But it is demonstrative of the current state of her career. I wish I could've predicted this. Oh. Wait. I did.

LA Reid (74,523) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Something tells me LA Reid had a long stern talk with MC and really let her know the cold hard truth about her status and to get focused and give the fans she has left a real era and to stop with the half assed singles and promotion. I really think he is ready to help bring Mariah back to the top where he knows she is capable of being, and he is making sure she is ready to do the work. Something tells me this new era is going to be big on all levels.

Happy anniversary E=MC2 (74,522) by RibbonB from USA
Still a great CD. Mariah put in some work on this one. TMB still gets me every time, snappy beat, infectious lyrics, fun attitude. Classic. Migrate still knocks, Cruise Control, ILULT are both still fun. The stacked vocals on ILULT are iconic, almost too much, but not quite. Lol. Good record, good fun.

Re: Mariah the songwriter (74,520) (74,521) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I get it that Mariah really does hold her songwriting talent above her singing. She always talks about it, so I understand if she wants to maintain "I write all my own songs, I wrote all of my hits" I would be proud of it too. I guess at the end of the day, if she can't give up on writing she should at least definitely reach out to producers and writers she hasn't worked with before. She can greatly benefit from it, by trying something new while staying true to her own style. She needs to try out different styles and I'm sure she can do great in any musical genre, she just needs to come out of her "strictly RnB" rule. Anyways Mariah has never really put out a bad album ever. So I'm glad she has decided to release an album which can be a cohesive body of work rather than the haphazard singles that were going nowhere.

Re: Mariah the songwriter (74,518) (74,520) by Shezz from Pk
Remember that rare Rainbow era ridiculously intelligent interview that surfaced sometime back in which she discusses that she won't let anyone write her a song because she knows she can write better? I think she really hangs on to her penmanship tight and is even more proud of it than her vocals. Now in these insecure times it will be an ego thing for her. I think in that interview she said Dianne Warren wanted her to sing one of her songs but she reached a compromise with her by co-writing CTTA. She will probably do the same now. I hope that Diane Warren collaboration they did a while back makes this album.

I still believe / pure imagination remix (74,519) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I rediscovered this remix, I love all her "old" remixes and Krayzie Bone fits so perfect in this. I always thought some remixes are even better than the original released single. The same with the Stargate remix for TGIFY. Another remix CD would be a great gift for the lambily. With the new album I think Mariah will surprise us and we'll get another masterpiece.

Re: Mariah the songwriter (74,513) (74,518) by Edward from USA
I also agree with you. Mariah can always take a song and make it her own just like Whitney did. Whitney could take a song and make you feel it was coming from her soul, as if she had written it. Mariah's subtle but heavenly whistle at the end of "When You Believe" were epic, and it let everybody know unpretentiously, that she was there. If she has run off things to sing about, a little help would do her good. There's a pool of great songwriters out there, she just have to pick a few songs. I think this is the time for Mariah to start fresh, take a few songs from other lyricists, work with new people, diversify her work. She produced some great songs for "Merry Christmas II You", and "Almost Home" was a great song, reminiscent of 90's Mariah. She still has it in her, she just have to team up with the right people and feel challenged to do better. I do have a good feeling about this upcoming album.

Re: Mariah the songwriter (74,515) (74,517) by Licia from USA
I agree with most about her having others write for her. It won't hurt to have a couple songs written for her. As pointed out, if she can cover a song by another artist and make it her own she can tackle a song written specifically for her by someone else.

I could deal with another writer writing one or two songs but definitely not the entire album.

Stella and company (74,514) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Truth be told Stella and company are still very much active in Mariah's world but with this new album and era I am sure Mariah will have a different mindset. Let's just hope that Stella and company are on the same page or I can see Mariah finally waking up and giving Stella and company their walking papers. We have to remember that Stella comes from a reality show background whereas everything is fake and over exaggerated and honestly this is where a more composed manager needs to step in and handle Mariah's affairs on the musical side of things that understand Mariah and her musical legacy or should I say what can be saved from it. In opinion Stella is out to Kris Jenner the situation and get her family on at Mariah's expense and Mariah's World on E further proved that to me. Hopefully our girl can wake up soon and see Stella and company for who they really are and that is opportunists.

Re: Mariah the songwriter (74,509) (74,513) by Bill from the UK
Look at When You Believe and All My Life. Original songs written for Mariah and she sure as hell made them her own. Her remakes almost always trump the original (I'll Be There, Without You, Open Arms) so she could easily take somebody else's song to the next level as she does with her own material.

Aw, congratulations Jade. Sounds like an amazing unforgettable "moment". That is one party I would have lived to have been at. What amazing friends you have, as we know not all our friends share the same dedication and love for MC but do them to do that for you shows they know how much of a lamb you are and how much you must mean to them for them to put that together. Sounds very festive as M would say. Congrats again.

Re: Mariah the songwriter (74,506) (74,509) by Special K from USA
Hey Gee. Yes, Mariah is a great song writer and producer. That law was signed a set on the record books back in 1990. I absolutely agree and understand your point of view however, I also think if the right song came along that Mariah can interpret and still "Mariahfy" the hell out of it, I say why not? Like others have said, "You Are Not Alone", that was written by R. Kelly for Michael Jackson, is a perfect example of a great singer/songwriter being able to take a song that was written by somebody else and make it their own. We all know Michael was a prolific songwriter and producer. Now having other songwriters write a whole album for Mariah, awe hell no, but one or two songs probably wouldn't hurt.
