She's so so over it (70,570) by Matthew from USA
I said it before, and I'll say it again. It's about work ethic. It's about caring. Beyonce had a docu-series that premiered on HBO. It was mostly about work. Beyonce being unhappy about the lighting. Beyonce arguing about the stage colors and props. Beyonce being critical about the video playback in her sound check. Beyonce wanting the band to play higher, then lower. Basically, Beyonce caring. I think there was a time Mariah was like this. She was a control freak, perfectionist, or some would use the B word. I think these days, she just doesn't want to put in the work. Like Beyonce, Mariah has a docu-series, except hers premiered on E. and Mariah's doc is about scripted moments between her employees. In this doc, Mariah herself states that at this point in her life, she just wants to show up and expects that the people she hires gets it right, just the way she likes it. Well, this debacle is the result of that attitude. If you want things to be on point, you have to be the one to make sure it's on point. I would respect if she said, I just don't have a passion for this anymore and went on to do other things. But she wants the check and the money for doing nothing, and I can't respect or support that.

I so agree this thing is happening more and more often. Someone is deffo pulling the plug on something so she messes up.

Re: I'm so confused (70,551) (70,567) by May from Denmark
Right when I was happy with the bits of music she gave us for Christmas and the daring but pretty ensembles, it happens this catastrophe. I felt truly sad while watching the performance. I mean it, I kept the tears from falling. But I'm not being dramatic. I felt that way not because she lipsynch wrongly the first song (yes, it was that obvious). It was the fact that she gave up quickly. She stood there, waiting, tapping, mumbling, strutting. My idol gave up, in front of the world. I don't like to make comparissons but Gaga or even Aguilera would have sang loudly as they could, without mic, with their voices trashed, they've done it but Mariah never dares. Her mic was open, she could have said the hell with the track and sing a capella anything until the tech fixed the situation. Instead she giggled. She has been in that stressful moment before, didn't she learn anything? More than 20 years of stage experience to have come to this. Have we been cheated so hard all this time? Yes, she is human, her instrument depends on many things but it's obvious the will is not there any longer. "I will just go through Emotions" (paraphrasing) she mentioned along the lines, zero effort except a "oh wo wo". Has singing become so hard for her that she constantly needs a lead? I feel like I'm being lied to everytime she says music and singing is everything to her. From that performance all I can say is that she has no passion for the job anymore. She sounds very good when she does the effort, so to me, she just didn't care.

Time (70,566) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
As a fan from 1902 the play back I saw really hurt my soul, for MC to be one of the last few legends we have left that performance was a travesty and if MC does not wake up from the land of glitter, rainbows, butterflies, and daydreams from this day on she forget about any form of trust from the general public. It's time for Mother Butterfly to clean house and start over from top to bottom. She does not need anymore enablers around her, she needs people who are going to tell her what she needs to hear opposed to what she wants to hear. Time to dress like the star you are and make music that has meaning instead of making music that is following trends and making herself look thirsty for a hit like a fiend. If she does not take this time to regroup she might as well hung up the short skirts, high heels, and studded microphone for good because her career is done. Mariah for your legacy, save yourself.

Re: I'm so confused (70,551) (70,565) by Lila from United States
The life story of being a Mariah fan. Now that we're getting pictures of her on stage, I'm trying to piece this mess together. She had the little crystal embellished ear pieces in when she did Auld Lang Syne. Then the dancers covered her up with the feathers. After which we can see that the ear pieces are out. In video we can see Anthony tucking something into the back of her outfit. It's an ear piece. This was her during Emotions. Still, she had the left ear piece and I didn't see any indication that she even attempted to put it in her ear after she couldn't find the one for her right ear. Then, we get to WBT (she's put the wrap back on) and both of the ear pieces are visible, in pictures. Yet, they are visibly hanging around her neck. She didn't put them in her ears yet was still (lip) singing WBT at times, her mouth movements were matching the lyrics. It's not impossible but I doubt that the ear pieces suddenly stopped working after ALS. At this point, I'm more inclined to believe that it was a matter of the wrong backing track being used for Emotions. Unlike ALS and WBT, Emotions just had the beat and some whistles. It was a track for actually singing to but that wasn't the plan. When that went South, so did the rest of the performance. She didn't even try to salvage it. Anyone feel free to disagree but that's what I'm seeing.

Re: NYE performance (70,544) (70,564) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Hopefully. Mariah will get to a point where she chooses to hear the warning bells. I love her as an artist, you guys know I've been here for years, but some of you have serious blinders on. Someone who has faced their own stuff, is living authentically, and loves themselves unconditionally doesn't seek out love or validation from anywhere but inside. In many ways Mariah has not dealt with her wounds and is filling her life with distractions, so she can avoid the pain of really dealing. I don't judge where she's at, I have compassion for her. She's got self esteem issues, co-dependency issues and addiction issues. We all deal with these things in some form or another. Mariah is no different. Doesn't mean I have my head in the sand though. It may be a while before Mariah is ready for change.

Professional? (70,563) by Ian from United Kingdom
Being a professional, what should have happened is...
1. If her monitors are not working, speak clearly through the microphone and say "Stop the track."
2. Put on a smile, tell the audience there are some technical problems and hopefully someone will sort it out.
3. Start doing Emotions without the backing track and try to get the audience to sing along giving her and the engineers a bit of time to sort out the problems.
It ain't rocket science.

Karma? (70,562) by Alexis Morell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan from USA
I have to wonder if all the female singer shade has brought her bad karma? I know if I was J. Lo, Demi, ariana, Minaj, or Miley I be roasting her. They all know Mariah because she was a New Years joke all over the world. Should Lionel Richie, looking out for his tour sales, disinvite Mariah from his tour?

Whistles (70,561) by Alexis Morell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan from USA
Can we finally have a discussion about her current whistl register now? There is a video compilation of her recent live highnotes and they are alarming. I've been saying her whistles have be off since 2010. Do whistle registers dry up with age? Do we know any 60 year old whistlers?

Mimi L / Stella / NYE performance (70,560) by Giselle UrbanPoshBeauty from US of A
I spit out my coffee when I read your post lmao. That sounds exactly like her I bet she's reading it (hey Stella) and sticking her middle finger at you lol. There comes a time when we need to stop making excuses for her and stop being in denial. The performance was bad, her attitude with talking to Ryan earlier in the night was "off" too. The twitter/instagram statement is off too and why she let Stella post that is absured. If she couldn't sing live, she needs to stop accepting these gigs. She should have done like John Legend and performed for the Hollywood part and tapped her performance in front of her fans these live performances ain't working anymore.

Industry devils (70,559) by Tyler from USA
This performance shows there are people out there who are blatantly against her. This is way too similar to the mic feed leak from NBC. The team at NBC were pisssed she made them wait so engineers leaked the audio. I'm not sure if people were paid to mess with her audio but I 100 percent believe this was a set up. She's made enemies with the wrong people and they are doing their best to make her life hell. Mics and audio do not mysteriously just shut off. It's really sad and I feel for her.

That's why. I don't understand how she didn't do a proper sound check. If there's one thing I want Mariah to take note from other artists, it would be Beyonce's dedication, seriousness and discipline. Maybe the master can learn something from the student.

Re: New Year performance (70,547) (70,555) by Bill from the UK
I course I watched the clips, what a stupid comment to make. She sang "feels like a dream", "got me feeling", "yeah", "oh" and another "oh". Honestly Terna, even Mimi L and other champions of her career have admitted it was a complete unmitigated disaster.

Re: New Year performance (70,547) (70,554) by Licia from USA
Nope I'm not a bad wagon hopping anything. I'm consistent in whatever I have to say whether it be good or bad. She didn't sing not one note. All she did was talk. I stand by my original assessment that you're silly and you always have an excuse.

Mariah's performance (70,553) by darrian liu from taiwan
In one way, I'm so mad and disappointed with the performance. I feel so frustrated I nearly had a breakdown over it because I really, really want her to do good on public, not just on tour. But on the other hand, this is the mess up that will light up a fire under her butt. Look at how she went on one of her most vocally consistent tours after the disasters of TECS and Rockefeller. If anything, Mariah will get back up again.

Re: New Year performance (70,542) (70,552) by darrian liu from taiwan
She may have a sore throat but one thing that really makes it unlikely is that she can still talk audibly and clearly without any cracks. The most likely explanation is that she did not warm up her vocals. I was so, so disappointed, with that performance. Emotions was her slaying song last year; her best vocal moments in 2016 has been from Emotions. But somehow, in live TV, she [censored] up the song. She didn't even sing. I'm utterly disappointed, I just can't. I know that she could slay that performance had she warmed up and rehearsed. She should've done a sound check. She should've rested well and stopped drinking days before the performance. There's so many that Mariah could have done to make that performance a hit, to open the year with a bang. Instead, she just shoves her career and reputation into a coffin. There's nearly no hope now; her image truly is in shambles. But I will stand with her. I will hope for better, because this is Mariah we're talking about. There's no choice now, she has to pull a Beyonce, like one of the posters said. Do an interview regarding what happened in that performance and give coherent, straightforward answers instead of avoiding the question and commenting of the decor. Pull a 1992 Mariah and do something like MTV Unplugged to convince people she isn't just a studio singer (people have thought of Mariah of being a studio singer again).

I'm so confused (70,551) by Mirage from Unicornatopia
I am not supporting Mariah blindly at all, but I feel the need to genuinely ask the question, was this Mariah's fault? I actually have no idea. Is it something to do with the sound engineer, or is it all a masquerade? Mariah mumbles mid performance that there was no sound check, which is beyond stupid, and makes me call her culpability into question. You are performing for the world, make sure you do a sound check. That type of slackness is what's wrong with Mariah. I can't envisage Beyonce missing a sound check for a performance in front of the world.

Stella (70,550) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Stella is probably out there telling Mariah "No they are not tearing your image to shreds, no they are not, no they are not. Listen Mariah, my sister wife, we are two strong independent women, we go hard. We need to empower each other and empower our daughters (the deal with you launching Mishka is still on right?) Those people out there are haters, we don't know them. We are real friends. You're on fire. Don't change a thing about yourself (and more important don't change your team). We work hard, we play hard. Shout out to all the single moms out there. Let's talk about love, laughter and light and get ready to kick some f****** ass. You're the best, you're perfect, you're so beautiful, no one understands you. Let's go to Paris and enjoy some time off, and wait let me ask my whole family to join in." Also Stella will probably be contacted by tabloids/news outlets for quotes about what happened to Mariah on stage and she'll give the usual "Lose my number, eff off, Mariah's on fire."

Insecurities rooted in her voice (70,549) by Cgee54 from Usa
This shouldn't be happening to a legendary singer like Mariah at all. I'm afraid she won't fire anyone not even Stella. I think the main problem here is her voice. She doesn't trust her voice to do the job anymore. I think she understands her voice has changed since she refuses to sing without a vocal track. It seems like she's trying to hold on to her youth by "trying" to sound the same as the record. She needs to rearrange her earlier stuff and lower down the key and stop trying to sound like her earlier self. Maybe this is the time to release a jazz album or an album that will translate well in live performances. If Mariah doesn't start doing some damage control herself I'm afraid Vegas and the tour will suffer tremendously. People will always bash her. I'm afraid her past success is becoming her undoing. She set the bar so high in the 90s that not even her can reach it.

So sad (70,548) by Fady from Lebanon
Went to sleep with the terrible tweets and now I am up and the headlines and clips are everywhere. I'm even signing in her in a maybe more than a year to vent: Please stop the "show" Mariah. Don't sing if you don't want to. Don't make new music if you don't feel like it. But please stop the act. I am sad to see that my favorite artist (category everything) can't go on stage and sing properly. The sad thing is this will become about "empowerment" and generating sassy one-liners for Mariah and her new team. Yes, you will live through this. But that doesn't mean you don't have a problem. I can't not love you always, please don't take my love and every true fan's love for granted or use it as an excuse to be a character. You are Mariah, you're a genius, a crazy talent. I don't know what to say. I am just crying a bit here and I rarely do. Please, please hear us already. We don't care what type of music you make (or don't), we just want you to be genuine, not a headline-hungry machine.

Here's a perfect example of the bandwagon hopping trolls. Did you even watch the clips? (I doubt.) Before quickly running on here to spew your tired shade? If you did you would know she sang here and there, but also did more talking. Smh.

Worst ever? Talaga? Don't understand how can you be embarrassed by something you didn't do? It's not your fault to begin with. I don't believe Mariah will ever give any explanation. Anyway epic artist has an epic fail.
