Re: Everything Fades Away (66,680) (66,685) by MusicfanJ from Germany
After "Without you" sounds nice. But in Europe the song is at the end (bonus track). So in America it wasn't released on Music Box? This song is just incredible. Never heard anything like this. I know a producer for Hip-Hop and RnB and he loves "Everything fades away". He says it's the one song from Mariah who gets him feeling "emotions" everytime.

Re: Mariah's technique, control and unique phrasing (66,678) (66,682) by Tameka walker from United states
When I was younger and until this very day I am floored as to how great a singer Mariah is. The way she hits those notes and give off goose bumps amazes me. Plus she is a prolific song.

Re: Everything Fades Away (66,680) (66,681) by Bill from the UK
Where did you read that Everything Fades Away was considered "too black"? What nonsense (not you, just the notion). I think it was only the US version of the album which didn't feature the track, every other country had it included as the last track (certainly all of the European countries had it), and it completes the album by being the last track, it wouldn't be the same having it positioned anywhere else. I grew up for years and years with it being the final track and never even realised it wasn't on the US version until much later. All I've Ever Wanted is a beautiful song but it's no album closer in my opinion. To me, Music Box isn't finished until Everything Fades Away slowly fades away. One of the best songs she has ever done. I remember Walter saying he was devastated that it didn't make the US release.

Everything Fades Away (66,680) by Randy from USA
So since this song was too black to be on Music Box, according to Tommy M, any ideas where MC and Wally A would have put it in the sequence? My guess is either before Never Forget You or after Without You. But there's no way it could go after Anytime You Need A Friend. They sound too similar. What do you all think?

Mariah's technique, control and unique phrasing (66,678) by Bobby A from United States
Whenever I read an article or a fan comment or critique of Mariah's song catalogue, they always say Mariah has great technique and control and unique phrasing. I am not a singer myself, so it is difficult for me to describe her great technique and control and unique phrasing in each of her songs. I know an excellent singer when I hear one and I can point out a bad singer as well. So when I first heard her sing Vision Of Love in 1990, I knew instantly she could sing because of her vibrato and the way she executed and held her notes. I know Butterfly is such a great song because of the way she was singing it. I found it very difficult for me to sing it in the shower. Other than that I am lost in truly understanding Mariah's excellent technique and control and unique phrasing. What songs truly showcase her technique, control, and phrasing? What is her best era in showcasing her technique and control and unique phrasing? Is Mariah truly and alto or soprano? What era did she start singing with such a breathy voice? What era did she start to lose some of her voice control? What era did she start to sing with such rapid phrasing? How different would "We Belong Together" had sounded if she recorded it 1990 to 1995? Would Mariah be able to sing Butterfly today with such control? Can you all help me out with your analysis of her singing? I am curious about what you all think.

Re: Your own private concert (66,675) (66,677) by Andrew from UK
European countries don't like us lol we accept it. It makes for brilliant viewing. We always automatically qualify because we pay so much towards the European Broadcasting Union. But our music industry is second only to the United States in terms of dollar value, right? What says Holland? So, we win the world? The whole wide world. Except for America. But you like us more than her, right? God bless America, and God save the queen.

Andrew the android (66,676) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I can't with Andrew using Google translate to speak Dutch on a Mariah board for no reason. Haha. Could this get more random? And then the sudden Eurovision mess. Looks like Samsung Note 7 isn't the only android that is exploding. Just kidding.

To quote the Eurovision Song Contest: "The Netherlands, no points - Les Pays-Bas, nuls points." But whilst I'm here: "The United Kingdom, twelve points. Le Royaume-Uni..." Well, you see where I'm going with this. Have a good weekend yourself, buddy.

Suggest "Outside" be on repeat. Once more you have evidenced your (and others) ability to completely miss the point of a post. Although "Andrew the android" made me actually laugh out loud. I'll give you that. I hope you're having a good weekend, buddy.

Bedankt voor de vertaling. Ik vergat dat je Nederlands bent. Ik heb Brexit. Maar we zijn alle Europese en beter voor het. Totally Google translate here. [Webmaster: Which shows Google Translate is still far from being perfect.]

1. Daydream (interlude)
2. Fantasy
3. Now That I Know
4. I've Been Thinking About You
5. TGIFY (Vegas version, lol)
Surely everyone on this board has at one time or another (with Andrew the android being the sole exception). I listen to Outside when I feel like I don't belong or ATYNAF when I'm feeling down and out.

So after your private 5 song concert with MC, she comes back on stage and gives you one more song. What song would you request? My choice would be "All In Your Mind".

I don't think they actually worked together on it. I believe he just remixed it or edited it.

I think we all picked these emotional songs because everyone here has gone to a Mariah song to help them get through a "moment. " So we just want to enjoy listening to those rare gems that made us connect to her music. Her describing the types of fans she has in this interview fits perfectly as to why we all are fans of her music.

I love how well Jussie speaks about her, he describes her in a positive light. I like how he explains she is over the top in a fun way but a kind person.

Ledisi (66,658) by RibbonB from USA
I love the singer Ledisi, she has some really great songs and super great singing technique. I wish that she and Mariah would collaborate on a couple of interesting songs for Mariah's next project. Ledisi is well trained and so talented, but very underrated. I was hopeful when I noticed that Ledisi went to one of the early legs of Mariah's Vegas shows. M. didn't show her backstage or anything, but maybe she wanted to keep it secret that they are working together. I'm just hoping. Ledisi has worked with Big Jim in the past, so there may be a connection. Here is a great interview with Ledisi about music and songwriting as well as three very live vocal renditions of her songs. It is just her and two excellent background vocalists and a guitarist and you feel each song fully and beautifully. She is one artist who's acoustic versions are just as fleshed out and magnificent as her recordings. Her look here is unique, but fun. Lol.

Re: New photos (66,646) (66,657) by RibbonB from USA
At least Roc and Roe looked absolutely adorable and fashionable. JP looked like he needed massive amounts of lotion, if that is possible. Lol. And Mimi, well she tried it. Hopefully she will be back next week to promote her new song and appearance on Empire.
