Sky Diving (The Roof Pt 2) (66,695) by Terna from Nigeria
Her pen game on this song is something to marvel at. In just 2 minutes, Mariah tells a story about love, heartbreak, longing ang reminiscing, switching in between past and present. You feel she's just told a story of a lifetime. How did this song get cut off the final Memoirs tracklist but crap like "Up out my face" both song and even more horrendous reprise (lol, I hope she doesn't read this) made the cut? This song is up there and easily a part two of The Roof. Just shorter in playtime and not as detailed as the former. I have mad love for Skydiving.

I remember it too. It was an interview with Walter not too long ago. Can't remember which one though.

Re: Mariah at The Beacon Theatre (66,689) (66,692) by Luke from United Kingdom
There was a post on Twitter about her tickets for the SSFT being sold out and she was asked to add more dates. However, she declined because she said it would result in her performing more than 3 days in a row which she doesn't do to avoid stress on her vocals, it said she explained she will have to return to New York by that time to rehearse for her Christmas shows. I'm not sure if it's legit though.

I think it was best left off the album. I prefer Do You Think of Me.

Mariah will be doing the Christmas shows again because in the article about Hawaii it said that she couldn't do one of the dates because she would be in New York to start rehearsing for the Christmas shows.

Mariah at The Beacon Theatre (66,689) by Anthony Carey from U.K
Hey lambs, I wanted to see if anybody has heard anything on whether Mariah is doing the Christmas concert series this year? I was trying to cast my mind back as to when it is usually announced and something tells me late September / early October. Any info would be a great help as I need to get organising myself.

Re: Everything Fades Away (66,687) (66,688) by Bill from the UK
Lol, so weird that we both grew up with that album ending on completely different notes and can't see it any other way. It just feels unfinished to me without Everything Fades Away giving it that sad and melancholy end. Maybe that was why it was left off, in terms of upsetting the general mood of Music Box. Everything Fades Away lacks that "wedding album" feel both sonically and with the subject matter that the other tracks all have. I remember when Rainbow came out Mariah said that "for once" one of her albums had a happy ending. Maybe she always saw Everything Fades Away as the true closer to Music Bix and was equally as perplexed as Walter for it being removed for the US market.

Re: Everything Fades Away (66,681) (66,687) by Randy from USA
I swear I read that Tommy said it would lean Music Box in a direction that was too R&B, but I can't remember the source. And I cannot imagine Music Box ending any other way than All I've Ever Wanted.

Re: Mariah's technique, control and unique phrasing (66,678) (66,686) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I posted a theory here years ago that Mariah's usual "rounded" singing/phrasing has been traded for a "flatter", more nasal and less "full" sound as a way of adapting to her diminished ability to belt out and sustain notes especially post-2000. I believe she can still choose to sing with a "rounded" voice, although the result would be noticeably less impressive and not as buttery-smooth in quality than it was the 90s. The closer you put your lips together when you sing, the more breath you save, however, that will definitely affect the sound of what you're singing. To her, it's become more of an adaptation thing than a choice. Since Charmbracelet, she has injected this into her songwriting as well. She'd go for rapid-fire verses than longer drawn-out sentences that extend her vocals. Coincidentally (or maybe not really), this change turned out to be appropriate as it was then when she started really pursuing hip-hop tracks, where herky-jerky, frantic, staccato styles of delivery are a better match.

Re: Everything Fades Away (66,680) (66,685) by MusicfanJ from Germany
After "Without you" sounds nice. But in Europe the song is at the end (bonus track). So in America it wasn't released on Music Box? This song is just incredible. Never heard anything like this. I know a producer for Hip-Hop and RnB and he loves "Everything fades away". He says it's the one song from Mariah who gets him feeling "emotions" everytime.

When I was younger and until this very day I am floored as to how great a singer Mariah is. The way she hits those notes and give off goose bumps amazes me. Plus she is a prolific song.

Re: Everything Fades Away (66,680) (66,681) by Bill from the UK
Where did you read that Everything Fades Away was considered "too black"? What nonsense (not you, just the notion). I think it was only the US version of the album which didn't feature the track, every other country had it included as the last track (certainly all of the European countries had it), and it completes the album by being the last track, it wouldn't be the same having it positioned anywhere else. I grew up for years and years with it being the final track and never even realised it wasn't on the US version until much later. All I've Ever Wanted is a beautiful song but it's no album closer in my opinion. To me, Music Box isn't finished until Everything Fades Away slowly fades away. One of the best songs she has ever done. I remember Walter saying he was devastated that it didn't make the US release.

Everything Fades Away (66,680) by Randy from USA
So since this song was too black to be on Music Box, according to Tommy M, any ideas where MC and Wally A would have put it in the sequence? My guess is either before Never Forget You or after Without You. But there's no way it could go after Anytime You Need A Friend. They sound too similar. What do you all think?

Mariah's technique, control and unique phrasing (66,678) by Bobby A from United States
Whenever I read an article or a fan comment or critique of Mariah's song catalogue, they always say Mariah has great technique and control and unique phrasing. I am not a singer myself, so it is difficult for me to describe her great technique and control and unique phrasing in each of her songs. I know an excellent singer when I hear one and I can point out a bad singer as well. So when I first heard her sing Vision Of Love in 1990, I knew instantly she could sing because of her vibrato and the way she executed and held her notes. I know Butterfly is such a great song because of the way she was singing it. I found it very difficult for me to sing it in the shower. Other than that I am lost in truly understanding Mariah's excellent technique and control and unique phrasing. What songs truly showcase her technique, control, and phrasing? What is her best era in showcasing her technique and control and unique phrasing? Is Mariah truly and alto or soprano? What era did she start singing with such a breathy voice? What era did she start to lose some of her voice control? What era did she start to sing with such rapid phrasing? How different would "We Belong Together" had sounded if she recorded it 1990 to 1995? Would Mariah be able to sing Butterfly today with such control? Can you all help me out with your analysis of her singing? I am curious about what you all think.

European countries don't like us lol we accept it. It makes for brilliant viewing. We always automatically qualify because we pay so much towards the European Broadcasting Union. But our music industry is second only to the United States in terms of dollar value, right? What says Holland? So, we win the world? The whole wide world. Except for America. But you like us more than her, right? God bless America, and God save the queen.

I can't with Andrew using Google translate to speak Dutch on a Mariah board for no reason. Haha. Could this get more random? And then the sudden Eurovision mess. Looks like Samsung Note 7 isn't the only android that is exploding. Just kidding.

To quote the Eurovision Song Contest: "The Netherlands, no points - Les Pays-Bas, nuls points." But whilst I'm here: "The United Kingdom, twelve points. Le Royaume-Uni..." Well, you see where I'm going with this. Have a good weekend yourself, buddy.

Suggest "Outside" be on repeat. Once more you have evidenced your (and others) ability to completely miss the point of a post. Although "Andrew the android" made me actually laugh out loud. I'll give you that. I hope you're having a good weekend, buddy.
