What a cool playlist. Mariah really has songs for all type of moods. That's such a good playlist. So many people still think Mariah has only ballads, but she's the queen of music.

Nasty Nick (65,526)
by Mirage_Nunez from America

No I don't hate Nick, I think he's turned out to be a wonderful dad and I did love how he always defended MC when they were married. However if there's two things that I just can't get into about Mariah, it would be: some of her fashion choices and her taste in men. Chile. Our girl couldn't pick the right man to save her life. Even though I did warm up to Nick over the years, when he and MC first got married I was stunned in disbelief and literally thought "I don't know her", "Why would she do this?", "What the hell was she thinking?" etc. Reason being Mr Cannon had a reputation for being a player and was a self proclaimed gigolo. I know it was just a song, but still it's not cute considering you ran through a few woman in the industry and had the tacky ordacity to brag about it while still married to Mariah. This is why I believe Nick purposely sabotaged his marriage with Mariah. He knows her better than us, so I highly doubt he didn't think disrespecting his marriage like that would be damaging. Now I think him expressing his side of the the divorce via music or even interviews is fine, but what's not fine (and what Mariah doesn't deserve) is to be humiliated by him putting intimate details of her sex life on blast. And "Team Nick" you need to stop defending him in this matter, you all riding harder for him than you all do for Mariah.

Re: Duet with another female singer (65,508) (65,525)

I have seen many fans talking about this, and in my thinking, just based on what MC says, her only ever released single with another female was Whitney. She did the remix with Mary J, but that was before Whitney died. I just feel that she humours people with all the Beyonce talk, but she probably would never and leave her career as only ever doing one duet with a female, and let it be Whitney.

Okay, so here's my disclaimer: I liked Nick. I think they were truly in love. Yes, both of them. I think it was real for them both, but life under the spotlight happened and they couldn't make it work at the end. That being said, MC is the mother of his children. Man up and do the right thing. If you know she is uncomfortable with you discussing sexual topics, then respect that and don't do it. Real men don't kiss and tell.

Think duets are a bad idea given that Mariah has good days and bad days and lipping whilst another artist sings live might work with Miguel but she'd be eaten alive if it was another female vocalist. She needs a kickass party song with a memorable hook and a great beat that she can pull off live whilst moving about the stage. It doesn't even need vocal acrobatics just a whistle note as a climax somewhere near the end to make people sit up. Said "whilst" I have. Twice, I did.

But Licia, please consider the question: is mouthing off randomly in an interview (and some such) when on-the-spot and trying to be entertaining, any more morally unpraiseworthy than writing, recording and arranging a song over a long period of time then allowing it to be pressed and released? That's malice aforethought, surely, which is more reprehensible. It will surprise no one that I think Mariah responsible for her own downfall. And a downfall this is. Dare say I. Yoda, I am. Used big words, I did.

If you are talking about this, then I highly doubt it, I mean would Mariah really release an EP on 9/11? Plus I hope it's not true, because what are these song titles?

Yes and some of the one's most vocal and sanctimonious about what Nick can or cannot say, then are the most graphic and petty of all themselves. It is just unbelievable. I'm sure a lot of people are young, but the nerve of it all. I just had to comment.

My All is at least 80% live and the new ab-libs are fantastic. It seems like Mariah promises alot and rarely delivers. Where is the B-side show she was going to do for lambs? We have been waiting 20 years for that. Where is Love Takes Time and Cant Let Go in full live?

Patti is way too powerful. Even now she still retains that humongous volume (she just doesn't use it as much as she used to). Jennifer Hudson would probably be good, but she uses her upper belts so much it takes focus away from the song itself. I think Beyoncé will be great, she is very versatile (Lemonade really showcases how versatile she can be) and Mariah would sound really good with her.

I agree. The fans have tweeted and posted some of the most foul crap right to Mariah's Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook accounts. As a matter of fact I recognize a few of those fan names who got their tweets posted in that article. That Nick08 fan is the biggest offender in that group. I've seen him post some awful things about Mariah and her children just for a laugh. What Nick said weirded me out and it was slightly tacky, but he's never been disrespectful like some of her fans have.

I totally agree that she knew who she got and fairly tossed him away when she was done, or so confused him that he literally didn't know what to do. We will see how the next one fares with all her pre wedding antics, that he seems to approve of for now.

Oh how I miss Luther. You are absolutely right that there is no voice quite like his. Ruben Studdard was someone highly influenced by Mr. Vandross but certainly was not Luther. Their version of Endless Love was my wedding song cliche and all. I agree too on Maxwell's voice hitting a point of struggle. His voice during Urban Hang Suite and Embrya was much smoother and sounded less strained.

New Vegas leg wish list (65,509)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
With this last leg of Mariah projects that starts off a series of projects that will keep her busy until early next year, I have a couple of wishes for this latest leg in Vegas. 1. I would like her to pull more of the playback back, especially on the ballads. My All should be sung completely live at this point. With her putting in work to sound better, she can do this song and improvise the notes like she did in 1999. Same with Always Be My Baby. Switch it up. Improvise more and pull back on the pre-records like here. 2. They announced she would be doing a new song in this latest leg. I tend to not believe all these promises as they don't ever seem to materialize, but I would settle for an elusive album cut that never got its chance like Melt Away, The Roof, or even YDKWTD from the last album (Faded would be to hard). Thoughts?

Duet with another female singer (65,508)
by Haiji Toro from USA
| |
|

If she ever does decide to do one, I think she should do one with Celine Dion. Vocally, I can't think of anyone else that would fit with Mariah's, at least for a power-house ballad as a single. Maybe even Patti Labelle. If it's a song just to have on her album but maybe never to be released, I would like to hear her duet with Beyonce or even Jennifer Hudson.

Possible reasons for song choices (65,507)
by Haiji Toro from USA
| |
|
|
You all are so funny. I got all types of visuals lol. I really think that her song choices were for specific reasons, but like everything else with Mariah, her delivery is so off that it can be misunderstood. I do think it's somewhat narcissistic of her part to choose her own songs but it's of no surprise. She's always saying that she doesn't listen to the radio anyways. Although there are so many songs of the past (as she's stated before, growing up listening to the radio) that she could have chosen in place. I'm thinking her choice for "Fantasy" was due to some of the lyrics that represent to her giving birth, "sweet, sweet, fantasy baby, when I close my eyes, you come and you take me". Not necessarily a reason to play the whole song but then again, I wasn't there. I'm also assuming that the reason for "Hero" was maybe for its real sentiment. We may forget that Mariah was never a promiscuous person. Maybe now a bit overly sexualized in image, but she was never one to talk about sex. So I feel that sex with Nick, to her, was just love making. Not that "Hero" is about that, but when she met him, I think she considered him to be her hero (saving her from that loneliness she probably felt at that time and other things, blah blah blah, I don't know lol). Now on Nick speaking about their sex, it's expected from him, being that he's still somewhat immature and a comedian at that. Like someone mentioned before, their (comedians) personal life is usually used as material. I just don't think it's classy and respectful, since that's the mother of his children and his once "so-called" love of his life. On the other hand, I agree that she's not so innocent when it comes to shading others, including Nick. They both don't respect each other. Two wrongs don't make a right, but that indeed, is karma, dah'lin.

Re: Nick (65,504) (65,506)

Mariah didn't pick Nick carefully? That's highly debatable. He was/is: 1. Much younger than her, 2. black, 3. popular with a younger generation than her main fanbase, and 4. in a relative position to be emasculated. I could expand on why each of those points was beneficial for Mariah and her career objectives but I'm sure it's all self-evident. I think she picked him very carefully. But theyre in different places now, and, as with Mottola and Eminem, if you're going to write songs criticising people, they're going to retaliate. Those in glass houses...

Endless Love - Luther (65,505)

I miss the vocal power and versatility of Luther Vandross. His vocals along with Mariah's seemed effortless, both were arguably still in their prime when they shared that duet. He is sorely missed. There is no current singer that effortless and still charismatic, IMO. John Legend is just ok, but not to the heights and depths of Luther.

All this hate towards Nick is warranted, but at the same time, he is not the only one to blame here. There is an old saying that says, "You are who you attract." As fans we have this fantasy image in our mind who we think Mariah really is, but recently she has started to show us a whole different side of her. My point is, Mariah can be just as shady, catty, and inconsiderate as Nick or anyone else, but she chooses her moments carefully. She picked this man knowing full well that he was a young immature boy, so I don't feel bad for her when he starts running off at the mouth anymore. That's karma baby, pick your partner more carefully next time.

Many Mariah fans say worse than Nick's comments. Many take things too far, for too long, too often, but complain that he makes any comments about his own marriage. Plus many fans post far worse things directly on social media. The other funny thing is when people make too much of a thing, guess what, famous people really make that their go to topic. Go figure. So we might just get more comments from Cannon, or the queen herself might join in with some shade. People take a not so serious thing and go on and on. I am sure that when the Manaka jokes and the James jokes come back people will also blame that on Nick. I'm sure Mariah grinding, whilst drunk in the club was his fault too. Boy if she had ever done that to Nick, people would have been spewing fire from their horny lambs, I mean lambs horns. If Nick had groped her in the club, who knows what would have happened.
