I feel the same way. I hope they can cut that boobie stuff off before he goes to school talking about boobies. It's funny until he says it at the wrong time in the wrong place. Yes Roc is adorable. Roe kills me with her sweet little smoker's voice. She sounds like she smokes a pack a day. Lol.

Faded (65,277)
by RibbonB from USA

I absolutely love this song from MIAM. This should have been the lead in instead of You're Mine Eternal. This song has so many layers and the vocals are killer, especially the last 30 seconds. Mariah outdid herself on this one. It rivals Ribbon from Memoirs, in intensity and emotion, but they are two extremes from the same coin IMO. Where Ribbon is ecstatic, Faded is exhausted, Like a Faded Ribbon, awwwww. To these type of writing and vocals I say, yasss queen all day. Now Giovanni I hope you love Faded too so we can reaffirm our friendship. Lol.

It is catchy indeed and I was sure it would be #1. But I think her team diluted the song's potential by having too many Rihanna singles out there at the same time. When Work was #1, this song was already out along with Needed Me and Kiss It Better. And now there's also the song from Drake's album. Too much? Still, it's a hot song and things might change. Hopefully not.

I'd say the next no. 1 would be Justin's Cold Water. It's no. 3 on iTunes, and just two weeks in, it's already at no. 13 on Radio Songs. We all know how Beliebers support Justin and once the song reaches the top 10 of Radio Songs, it will shoot up to no. 1.

Yeah I saw that last week and they are so adorable. They might want to break them of the boobie chatter. It was cute, but inappropriate. Roc is adorable though.

You're always negative so it's no surprise you'd have nothing but negative things to say about one particular song from Mariah.

Lol welp, we will never agree on AOLG but I accept and appreciate your opinions. AOLG and Angel's Cry are on the same level of shouting out emotions vs. a more nuanced telling of pain and hurt. But I guess she feels that way sometimes. I be like, skip, zip to the next song. I guess it is that way for all of us, but the songs vary person to person. Mine Again is my jam though, doesn't even compare to AOLG and Joy Ride is sublime. I could go on and on dragging your song just for fun but I will stop. Just having fun with you, but I mean it though. Lol.

I was hoping Justin Bieber would step in again and help Mariah haha. He has 2 new songs out so I was hoping one of them would just go to #1. Or at least for Sia to stay there long enough for Rihanna to drop. What's scary is though this song by Rihanna and Calvin is actually quite catchy and may be on the charts for a while.

I find it funny how you changed your feelings for "The art of letting go" when before you also stated that it was one of Mariah's personal songs lol. Never before did you ever speak of it in a negative way. Now it's "wordy" and disjointed"? What happened B?

Not every one of Mariah's songs has a melody now do they? "Mine again" is one of my all time favorite songs and it does not have a melody. "The art of letting go" is one of Mariah's most personal songs. And when was the last time we heard her belt that fierce? "Joyride"? "Angels cry" was probably the closest but not as strong as "The art of letting go". "Supernatural" is too cutesy and "Money" is just a mess. I fall asleep during "Money" and "One more try". "Heavenly" saves the album in my opinion. Hopefully Mariah's next album is better with better collaborations. Say Miguel, John Legend, Sam Smith, R. Kelly, The weekend or an older legendary artist like Stevie Wonder or Tony Bennett. I would love a jazz number with him. That would be classic Mariah.

That snapchat Nick posted of the kids was too cute. It kind of tugged at my heart strings when Nick asked Roc what the password was and he said "I love daddy and mama." Then he had to ruin it with the "boobies". I have a feeling Nick won't find the boobie thing funny when Roe gets hers. He may just cry. Lol.

Mariah dream (65,265)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|
|
I just thought I would share the dream I had about Mariah last night. I have never had a dream about her or any other singer or celebrity, but last night I did. Mariah was in my room beside my bed singing "Luluby" [sic] from the Charmbracelet album lol. Out of all the songs she sang "Luluby". She looked very pretty and was smiling the whole time. She had on a black blouse and a pair of jeans and her hair was tied to the side. The funniest part was after she was finished my friend appeared and she left with him and closed my door lol. This was too funny but in a way a dream come to true. I met Mariah but in a dream. This one was extra special too because usually in my dreams I don't hear anything. So now I have to go and play "Luluby".

Well the powers that be want Rihanna to surpass Mariah badly. Anything she releases goes to number one or top three. I don't think it will hit number one, but don't rule out another number one from Anti.

It's funny that you posted this. I was watching it too last week and I could swear I didn't remember some of the parts even though I'd watched it a few times before. The part about the alleged boob job is interesting. It made me think that perhaps TM was not so against Mariah going for a sexier image, if he really did buy her the boob job. He couldn't have been that oblivious to what was going on in the industry at the time with singers increasingly dropping more and more clothes. Sexy was becoming the new norm and Mariah had to keep up. I think his main issue was the hip hop direction. He just did not want her to hang with rappers.

I was thinking about the same thing. The song is still achieving small gains on the radio where it's sitting at #2, behind Cheap Thrills. It's currently sitting at #17 on the US iTunes chart and Cheap Thrills is at #11. I'm not sure how its streaming stats are but overall it looks like it's still behind Cheap Thrills.

I actually love this song Giovanni, It has a "cantankerous" beat and I love the way Mariah says "this that the other". The song bears no relation to the image she is showing now days, but it's a cute sentiment. Lol. I can definitely imagine a college band playing this one. Mariah has a few songs that lend themselves well to band arrangements. I can't wait until your Hozier music arrives, so you can give me your critique.

AOLG is definitely too wordy and ill constructed. It sounds like a light weight blues song with fake strings. Now if she had covered BB King's The Thrill Is Gone, she would really have been saying something. Lol. I love these lyrics and it combines a little of Betha Gon Know and I wish You Well. Lol. The thrill is gone The thrill is gone away The thrill is gone baby The thrill is gone away You know you done me wrong baby And you'll be sorry someday The thrill is gone It's gone away from me The thrill is gone baby The thrill is gone away from me Although, I'll still live on But so lonely I'll be The thrill is gone It's gone away for good The thrill is gone baby It's gone away for good Someday I know I'll be open armed baby Just like I know a good man should You know I'm free, free now baby I'm free from your spell Oh I'm free, free, free now I'm free from your spell And now that it's all over All I can do is wish you well

TAOLG is a horrible song. There's no cohesive melody, bridge, and it's nonsensical in lyric composition. I can't believe she released that. It's embarrassing. Honestly it's makes me grateful to all the co writers and co producers she's worked with in the 90s to help compose her good music. I just hated all the hype before TAOLG. They built it up to be the next Vanishing and back to form to her earliest albums and it was such a let down. I hate these last several years of half efforts. I rather have less albums but quality music than these repeated attempts to recreate past hits. These kinds of stunts are making her lose her fan base and authenticity

Rachel would be perfect. Mariah just needs to let Rachel have 100% control and then no one can stop her from being a fashionista. I know some people here will now cringe or remark saying "Why is it important to be a fashionista, Mariah is a singer not a model" but we live in a time where visuals are very important. Kylie Jenner with zero talent is getting millions simply because people are obsessed with her fashion, same with Kim. Yes it might not always translate into album sales (like it didn't for JLo) but this is a better way of staying relevant than by drinking and exposing oneself. Plus JLo with her below average songs managed to chart over Mariah's high quality songs. I just can't deal with this. Forget the age factor or that she is a mother, the outfits Mariah mostly wears (leaving aside the exceptions) won't be chic or flattering on anyone.

I agree, Mimi. Mariah needs to hire a stylist. I'd recommend Rachel Zoe. She's able to seamlessly blend classy and edgy.
