Hello Ribbon B. I don't believe JP is a prop. I believe he is silently running the show. He did introduce her to Stella and had something to do with the Vegas gig. I'm waiting to see what this new team can push an album out properly with heavy promotion and well timed, seamlessly flawless releases of new music. They have managed what no other manager since Benny has been able to do which is promote. You see Mariah on every morning show, prancing in and out restaurants where paparazzi hang out for press. The only thing that is missing is her singing live on some shows. If she continues to care for her voice and sing like she has been, she should have no problem making comeback with quality music. I like that she is recording during her Vegas stint. Hopefully her Vegas sessions will bring something special.

Anyone else think Mariah lost her passion? (63,130)

I don't think she likes her singing career anymore, which might be why she hasn't really been trying since 2005.

In all fairness, Mariah's voice was in pretty bad shape when that show was recorded compared to now. It may have been less about divaness and more about her not wanting to be embarrassed by sounding worse than the original track. At the time I was even worried when watching the video if she could pull it off.

Carpool Karaoke (63,127)

I also agree with Andrew on this one. I'm just so glad Mariah was basically the first one to do. Had she pulled this stunt after Adele phenomenal performance, people would've ripped her apart. It was the perfect time for Mariah to let loose, and sing to her damn songs. She could've had her background singers in the back to help her though.

Andrew I get what you're saying and I somewhat agree. The thing is I just wanted her to at least try. She's gotten to a point now where she won't even try. Like you said she's a singer who won't sing (that aggravates the hell out of me). So when opportunities like this come up and she at least attempts to do what she's known for despite her not wanting to, I appreciate her effort. To me she sounded good even though they did pick a crappy song and it was a small snippet. Lol.

To mention Mariah in the same sentence as "her" should be a crime. Mariah, Whitney, Celine, Aretha, Diana, Janet, Madonna, etc. Then you have Beyoncé, Pink, Christina, etc. Then Ciara, JLo, Kesha, Rihanna.

That album should have been a number one for many weeks. It's a perfect summer soundtrack and I'm still so addicted to "For the record". At the end when Mariah sings honey it's heavenly.

I absolutely love Licia and her posts, but I'll have to agree with Andrew on this. Every other Carpool Karaoke I've seen, they just let lose and sing their hearts out. Even the ones who are not great singers. They just have a great time. Sing along, be crazy. As much as I love Mariah, I wish she didn't continuously use the "I didn't sleep last night, I'm not going to sing today" excuse. Girl can out-sing most of today's top artists on her worst day, but she's just too conscious sometimes. James Corden actually sang way more than Mariah there. But yes, I'm happy to hear that Corden said that a lot of people rejected his offer before Mariah signed on. That's when it got big. So yet another trend-setting moment from our Mimi. I was talking about how I want her to go back and do it again and this time just belts out.

Mariah's stylist (63,116)

Needs to be fired. She needs someone who will dress her like the star and legend she is. She has the body but sometimes her ensembles are bad. The ones for Vegas are awful, with the exception of a few. If she wants another comeback she's going to need to look her very best. Her ensembles were on point during "The Emancipation Of Mimi" and on "American idol". She looked stunning. She's too beautiful and iconic to be looking tacky. I still love the pink ensemble she wore on "Good Morning America" in 2013. She looked like Mariah the legend, icon and diva I love.

Mariah vs Jennifer (63,115)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|
|
I can't believe we're still on this topic. There was never a feud or competition between Mariah and Jennifer. Jennifer was just used by Tommy to try and sabotage Mariah. And of course the stolen samples. But look who had a hit album that scored two number ones and sold over 6 millon copies. Jennifer doesn't have half the talent, voice, artistry or album sales Mariah has. All she can do is dance. But in my opinion Beyonce is definitely a way better dancer. And this is coming from someone who dislikes Beyonce. I could never like Jennifer because she seems so fake and full of herself. She's had a decent career and has four medicore hits but that's it. She has never hit one note in her whole life. I think Mariah should let the past be the past and move on. Learn to forgive and be more loving. Keep working on your voice and make the best music possible so you can be successful again. In the end she will always triumph over Jennifer.

JLo just needs to go back to not acknowledging the "feud". I'm so over the whole thing with her all of a sudden clap backs, then playing nice. She just shouldn't have tried it with MC. Maybe if everyone stop bringing it up it'll just go away and be an irrelevant topic again. Let's practice.

Licia, whilst I appreciate you and enjoy you, saying that you're glad she "decided to go for it" is a little odd. Okay, it's a lot odd. She's a singer who doesn't really sing and that's ok? The whole thing is cringeworthy, looking back, having seen other artists doing the same skit. Mariah has a reputation for lip-syncing and having lost her voice. So she goes on a skit where you have to sing in a car to your own songs and says, "I'm not singing today, I was up all night." I think I'm probably right in that her fans and non-fans alike heaved a collective sigh of despair and rolled their eyes in unison. And then she muttered a few lines of Thirsty, perhaps because it was in an easy range. Yet, nobody wanted to hear an unknown song, especially a rubbish song at that. Essentially, she's a singer that it's quite difficult to actually hear sing anymore.

It's really tired now. They really need to just move on. The drama seems very mean. Girls like Jennifer Lopez are coming out, looking like she's cool and Mariah is just shady. It's so bad how the public makes Jennifer Lopez look like a saint while she's shaking her butt in videos and is half naked.
