Gospel and Christmas DVD (57,815) by Manny from U.S. I was watching Mariah's 1994 JTTW, at St John's church. At the end, the breakdown gives me life. I rewind it like 20 times. I'm not exaggerating. I also rewind the end of "Jesus (oh what a wonderful child)". I like her gospel "moments". I would love to hear complete gospel songs from her. Since Mariah is "the queen of Christmas", it would be awesome to have her Beacon shows on a DVD or televised. I haven't been able to see travel to NY and see her. I'm only puzzled at why you included Brazil, which as far as I know is not a Spanish speaking country, when I specifically asked about the Latin/Spanish press because of Latina magazine's blatant misinformation and misrepresentation of Mariah. In any case, I welcome anyone from any non-English speaking country to respond to my call. In Sweden, I'm used to reading false gossip stories directly translated from the Anglo press and minor facts wrong about her but at least no one would be dumb enough to write that her income is mainly from endorsements. She's known for her voice and music here, no matter what else people think, at least that is never belittled. I just thought it was/is an interesting topic. May, how ignorant can one be? (57,811) by Edward from USA May, I'm also Latino and completely agree with everything in your post about it. While nobody paid much attention to "I Wanna Know What Love Is", Brazil kept it at the #1 position for 6 months. I just can't quite wrap my mind around the ability that some people have to spew stupidity through their ignorant mouths. It never occurred to Ms. "Know-It-All" that Brazilians were Latinos too, and that that ¿Hablo Español? comment was very out of place. Then she has the guts to criticize Latinos for getting Mariah wrong, how ironic. It is like I want to puke every time I forget and realize I just read a couple of lines of any of her posts. She assumes that there are many Latinos here on the board, but that they don't post much. Like we Latinos need to have a specific name or label to be recognized as such, pure stupidity and ignorance. But here is the reality since you asked and since I'm latina, Latinamerican press and media doesn't care about Mariah Carey in general, and it never did. The only time she appeared in a bunch of magazines and tv was the time she dated Luis Miguel. If she ever appeared in articles they were those in tiny corners, with a small image and maybe one paragraph of text promoting one of her songs or a romance. The only other time she appeared in a spread in a magazine like "Hola" was when she had her nervous breakdown, and even in the tv it wouldn't appear much of it, because while lot of people admired her singing style and loved her ballads, she was not ever dominant in the media compared to other artists, not even in her peak times. It was not rare to say to someone "My favorite artist is Mariah Carey" and them having answering "Who?" MTV Latinamerica only showed her few videos and for a short period of time, like Fantasy, Without You and Heartbreaker. Only with the appearance of VH1 in the cable some time in the 2000s Mariah videos that were not usually known started to appear, I used to be hooked to that channel, it was the only one that showed videos like Boy and Say Something. Do the Latinamerica press get things wrong about Mariah? Yes, because they only pick up few things that comes from other gossip sites from America, which are not very positive to start with. To finish, I must add that the magazine "Latina" where this article comes from, is not even really "Latino" per se, it's an American magazine directed to Latinamericans living in America, hardly any of their articles contain much about Latinos living in Latinamerica, most are about artists living in the US, and many who are not even Latinos. I don't even know who consumes that kind of garbage magazines to start with, I know I don't, I never been fond to those "femina" magazines. Those magazines are cray cray. If Mariah does record a standards or gospel album she should strip each song of instrumentation just Mariah, her world-class voice, and a piano. Vanishing is a Carey classic that should be included in the Great American Songbook. Vanishing also showcases her criminally underrated lower register. But I feel her recent make up and ensembles have made her look older. An older person can look a lot younger based on how they dress. Mariah has worn many beautiful and not so beautiful gowns. Fly like a bird (57,800) by Giovanni from USA Is one of Mariah's best and strongest recordings ever. I felt like she tried to replicate it with "Heavenly" which is really good. But for me "Fly like a bird" is a bit more stronger and better. With everything that's been happening in this crazy world, it's the perfect song to be listening to right now. At least for me. The lyrics just speak to me. " No war and brutality", "Sometimes this life can be so cold", "Keep your head up". This song gives me life. I would really love another up lifting gospel choir type song. Nobody does it better than Mimi. So Mariah surprise me again with another amazing song. Carry us higher again. I don't know what you're implying even with the JLo reference, but it seems all kind of offensive. like Latinos aren't as talented and their only way to achieve success ala JLo route. Anyways, I do agree the article is wrong on all levels and I doubt she made that much with so little output. But I'm sure she made a pretty penny with the Elusive tour, Beacon shows, Vegas gig, royalties, and GOW. But back to Medina, he did really try to brand M like JLo when he managed her. She was endorsing like crazy capitalizing off of the comeback. Thing with M endorsing things are they're usually one hit wonder, it doesn't stick. 2014 was horrific, 2015 building back momentum, and 2016 is going to be fabulous. Children that young are more or less synonymous with whomever is their primary caregiver, in most cases that is the mother, i.e. Mariah. Why would he be more involved in the kids lives now that they are living lives so separate he isn't even privvy to their changing living arrangements? James Packer is probably around the kids more than any other male, apart from in-house employees. Certainly a lot more than Thirsty. For children that young, actual physical presence is what counts as they form memories that in turn will inform who they will grow into as full human beings. We only have to look to Mariah's own childhood to see how the absence of a male father (figure) can be problematic later on. I think Mariah is very conscious of who she brings around her children, especially as her significant other. I'm glad she has seemingly found a true partner in her life. She was just so obviously lonely in yet another loveless marriage on top of being the only real parent to baby-children for so long. It's showing in her whole deportment that she's been energised by the drastic changes in her personal and professional life this past year. I love when she is a confident go-getter and loves herself. That's how we got Butterfly. All the haters, who used to suck the life out of her with negativity, seem to have been weeded out one and left her room to breathe for the first time in much too long. If you are calling Nick Thirsty then he has a right to know and approve of anywhere his children live. Mariah and her team actually are coming off as thirsty with these constant TMZ tidbits. Instagram is not just for promo, it's for memories, accomplishments, life or what ever the hell the artist wants to post. I would fill my gallery with favorite moments from all of my life too. Mariah is all about the nostalgia. It's not "useless" or "pointless". It's fun to look back and filling your space with your legacy. It's also kind of fun to know what Mariah would post if there was instagram in 1997, you know? Take a chill pill lambs. Maybe you guys should post and keep tagging her with your fav pics with your fav ensembles. Who knows Mariah loves a great shot, she might re post it if its really a gem.
