Objectivity (60,204) by Manny from U.S.
I haven't visited this site in months. I still have the same stance. I will recommend for certain people to look up what being objective means. Edward, thank you for always having a good insight on anything related to Mariah. I enjoy your posts. On the other hand, there are immature comments from people who dont have any objectivity on Mariah's career or personal choices. I have a question. Has anyone gotten the Vegas package to meet her? I'm trying to figure of its worth it. Is it only a meet and greet? Does she sign your mementos?

Hey again. I found the address to "The Butterfly Room". It's not possible to navigate the site though, since it is shutdown and requires login for that. Only me who wanna see a revival of the forum?

IOW is in my "Under the weather"playlist. It's definitely in my top 10 MC songs. I always wonder who the protagonist of the lyrics is. Is it Tommy, or Luis, or both of them?

Amsterdam, radio (60,197) by Ben from Sweden
I was in Amsterdam for some time a couple of years ago, and I can tell you that they love Mariah there. Heard her constantly on the radio, even "Vision of Love" was played.

Does anyone know the web address that the forum "The Butterfly Room" had? It was something like "http://nextry..." I think. I want to check if it is archived on the internet archive/wayback machine. Wanna read some fun stuff. Please if you know the address let me know. Regards.

I'm still trying to catch up. Mimi L and Lee TS hit on some great points. I'll never take away the fact that Stella has helped Mariah bring in some extra money and endorsements (I'm super excited about the Essence Festival), I have yet to see what she has helped Mariah do as far as new music. Infinity doesn't count. In my mind it never happened. Lol.

Honi soit qui mal y pense? (60,194) by Andrew from UK
Somebody's knowledge here of the difference between HIV and AIDS-related illnesses is wanton. I have no respect for ignorance. I take full advantage of free speech and, mostly begrudgingly, accept other points of view, whilst not respecting them. And, sometimes, I am fiercely critical and push people to their limit, also. But then there is actual vulgarity. Whilst not presuming myself the arbiter of righteousness (and sounding terribly British) the recent post about Mariah's "heartlessness" etc. is so ill-informed and without foundation I am embarrassed for the poster. I am sure there are some who would criticise me in the same manner so. But to my threshold: ill-informed and vulgar. "What a prick" came to mind.

CB is my favorite album. It didn't have the Daydream vocals, but the words on the majority of the songs are awesome. CB spoke to me in a way that no other album has. I Only Wanted is a hidden gem that only few appreciate.

I Only Wanted (60,191) by Edward from USA
I just finished listening to "Charmbracelet" and I got a little happy and sad at the same time. I'd give my all for Mariah to write lyrics as profound as the ones below:
"I was caught in your masquerade
Wish I'd stayed beneath my veil
But it just seemed so easy to
Open up myself to you
Once more into the wind
The embers scatter
And the chill settles in"
I miss you Mariah. I hope your muse is riding on steroids for your next album.

Article: Mariah: "Elton John's commitment to charity is amazing" (60,189) by THE TRUTH from USA
Sorry but I have difficulty understanding, whatever their past differences and difficulties how while sporting that 35 carat ring at an AIDS benefit Mariah has refused to help her dying sister Alison who is also stricken with AIDS and has been struggling on death's door without assistance from her sister or mother ever since her brutal attack in her home last year which left her comotose, paralyzed and homeless. "Charity begins at home" and while there are a lot of carats on Mariah's finger there is clearly no compassion in her heart. I wonder if her current fiance knows the depth and breadth of her heartlessness.

Iconic singer/songwriter Gavin Christopher dies (60,188) by THE TRUTH from USA
Singer Songwriter Gavin Christopher who was introduced to Mariah by her Brother Morgan while she was still in High School with whom she recorded, the unreleased, "I Just Can't Hold It Back". Died yesterday after a prolonged battle with congestive heart failure. Towards the end Gavin who wrote several iconic hits for Chaka Khan as well as having a big 80s classic, "One Step Closer To You" was also known for his tireless work for children's charities, particularly "Camp Planet Hope, "Sharon and Kelly Stone's Foundation", struggled to pay his overwhelming medical bills and was snubbed by you know who. Gavin will be missed and is survived by his daughter Chloe Jackson.

Re: I want books by Mariah (60,183) (60,187) by Musti from UK
Why would it be shitty? Mariah has a whole lot more to say about the industry than pretty much anyone who has ever written a tell-all. It would not just be about her feuds or rivalries, nor would it just be about her career. Think outside the box. She said it herself that a lot of things happened to her when she was 12 (which is why she is eternally 12) and that she might write about it one day. Plus everytime she is asked a "sensitive" question in an interview, you can tell she wants to speak her mind but instead holds back (most recently, sexism in the music industry). Her real life (particularly her youth) and what has really been going on behind the scenes all these years is miles from what is written on her Wikipedia page. I want to know more. What we all do most of the time is merely speculate as she is very private and hardly reveals anything. So yes, I would like to have a comprehensive collection of her most important moments, coming from the woman herself.

Thank you, Edward. You've touched on so many things, but namely reading too much into everything is key. And I don't mean to tell people how to think or what to post. I appreciate diversity, truly If my comments are annoying to some, so be it. Scroll right on down. It's just that conspiracy theories, drama and feuds seem to be the go-to response to things and it seems objectivity becomes lost. On to the music being the focus.

LA Reid (60,185) by Giovanni from USA
I said it once and I'll say it again, I do not like nor trust the man what so ever. I hope Mariah is careful who she shares her music and ideas with. As well as taking control of how she wants things done. When I was younger I had no idea it was the label who picked the singles from an artist's album. Stella has done a good job repairing Mariah's image and having her booked for numerous events. I will say that. Vegas was a success and worked out in the long run so I'm happy. I just hope Stella will have Mariah everywhere promoting her next album. I think once Mariah is done with her Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour she'll be gearing up for the next era. I predict a single soon.

J.Lo (60,184) by Andrew from UK
I always thought "I don't know her" was Mariah gritting her teeth and telling the interviewer to not try to use her for ratings. I thought it was a sleight against the interviewer not Lopez. I never took it as "who dat?" because she would have just said, "Who dat?" Isn't this J.Lo thing more about fans stoking up the fires rather than Mariah stoking them up? Anyway, the best revenge is always success. Having been in musical obscurity for 8 or so years, Mariah should come back with a critically lauded album and a couple of hit songs: YDKWTD was a missed opportunity - imagine that now with a decent rapper on it. Anyway, Giovanni's already heard the new songs and is currently planning the PR and launch party. Oh, to be in some of your heads. Peace out.

Re: "Makin' It Last All Night (What It Do)" / "Mimi" (60,164) (60,181) by enwar00 from usa
Billy I've thought that before and completely agree with you that Mimi would have sounded closer to what was started on some Charmbracelet tracks such as Subtle Invitation, live instrumentation and an old school 70s vibe. I like Makin' It Last better than the three bonus tracks you mentioned, however I love many of the other tracks that remained on Mimi and gave it it's overall sound such as Circles, Mine Again, Your Girl, etc. It's almost like half and half between these songs on the second half and the first half with the hits and more contemporary sound. Ok I'm about to listen to Mimi lol.

All isn't gold that glitters (60,180) by Edward from USA
Why does everything have to be some sort of conspiracy? It is borderline ridiculous and paranoid. Jennifer worked first with Benny, then Mariah worked with Benny, yet I don't remember anybody saying that Mariah stole him from Jennifer or that Jennifer shouldn't work with him again because he was working with Mariah. If you read the chapter about Mariah in Damizza's book (she authorized it, just in case), you would realize how wicked and paranoid Tommy was at that point in time. He orchestrated Jennifer's career, he had access to whatever Mariah was working on, he most likely is guilty of everything that went on during that time and Jennifer as a new artist got caught up in the mess. Jennifer's image was basically a vivid copy of Mariah's at the beginning, but later on she got her own style that has nothing to do with Mariah's. Mariah and Jennifer are gorgeous women. Jennifer signed with Epic, so what? It doesn't mean anything other than business. Epic doesn't belong to any particular artist. Neither Mariah nor Jennifer is or will be the main artist of that label. They are past their prime. They could definitely have future successful albums, but that would be it. Meghan Trainor is the main artist of that label, they'll invest more resources in her because she would be bringing more revenue, it is pure business. When Mariah was hot back in the day, many artists were dropped to put muscle behind her career because it was promising and was bringing the money, it was business. Labels are not investing millions on videos anymore. There's an Oscar winner documentary that was partially filmed with a cellphone, for heaven sake. It is about the concept, the story and the direction. Mariah just needs to put some good non-rushed quality music out there, and we should know this is not the 90's, and that Mariah might sell, but not as before. It will happen to Adele, Rihanna, Meghan, it is life. Nobody stays on top forever. Maybe when some of these current artists are in their 40's, Mariah's daughter will be the one taking over. Nothing stays the same, things keep moving. Mariah and Jennifer are in different places than when they were hot back in the day, they are mothers now. LA Read was instrumental in the success of The Emancipation Of Mimi, but now he's just a goat in the eyes of some just for making a comment that in my opinion took some pressure off Mariah's back to keep producing #1's. I'm not criticizing or telling people what to post or not, but I can't wait for the conversation to be about the music. Just in case, Mariah's areolas must be kept out of the conversation.

Re: JLo and Mariah "Epic" showdown (60,166) (60,179) by May from Denmark
I agree with you on many points. But I wouldn't say that her current team isn't good, Mariah's image was so damaged it seemed it had no return at a point, it was awful to go to every one of her videos and seeing people making fun of her not being able to sing anymore and seeing the horrible headlines every time her name appeared in a news paper or gossip magazine. I think it wasn't easy task to fix Mariah's reputation, definitely I believe her Vegas show did help a fair amount though. I totally think that someone from the music industry needs to be in the team, after all, Stella is just a manager, she gets her to go to places and interviews but that's about it, then again Jermaine is from the industry and he alone didn't do much neither. I think a team requires all sorts of experts. I felt "Infinity" had a catchy chorus but except for a casual listening it wasn't a blast, the remix was awful, it could have been great just only with her and Justin, but that Montana ruined it for every body. And the video kinda let me down.

Duet (60,178) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I say Mariah just shake off these feud rumors and release 2 stone groove smash hit singles.
(1) "I Don't Know Her (Who?)" (featuring J to the Lo and Nicki Minaj). She can sample SIO by using the intro "Hoo hoo hoo hoo" as "Who who who".
(2) "Hasn't been popular since seventh grade (I hope they achieve longevity)" (featuring Madonna and Ariana Grande).
We'll have the 2 additional number 1s to tie The Beatles.
