2016 Billboard Music Awards / AI finale (61,189)
by Malcolm from Asia
| |
|
|
So Mariah might attend the BMAs. If it's true, I wish she performs her new single there. Time to show her amazing vocals with the wider audience and viewers, prove that she still is the songbird supreme and to shut down the haters. Next stop, to slay the 2017 Grammys. I'm disappointed that Mariah doesn't send a message at the AI finale, she is the only judge who doesn't. Props for Nicki Minaj for showing some gratitude. For me, giving some at least 15 seconds of your time in an organization that once you've been with is called professionalism. Whatever the problems or conflict that happened before, I guess giving a short clip and putting aside the drama represents the person's personality. It really says something to that person. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong but for me, she must said something on the finale, if she really hates AI that much perhaps wishing the contestants good luck is not bad at all.

Martyn, you know you just jealous that someone else got to "deposit on Mariah" and you didn't, babes. Well, her Alison's probably on Truvada and it's not getting her a meet-and-greet anytime soon lmao too much? I'm going to hell.

Connecting with fans/how to do meet and greets (61,186)
by Tiina from Finland
| |
|
|
We were discussing this earlier and I'd like to try and explain what I meant a little better when I said that while Mariah was very sweet to us, I didn't feel like there was a real connection there. It wasn't a criticism of her as a person at all. I believe her when she says she wants to connect with her fans. There's plenty of proof of that. I still view her as one of the most generous stars ever. Mariah reminds me of Marilyn Monroe who said that it was the people who made her, no studio, no person. I feel like Mariah gets that and lives by it. What I meant by saying that there was a lack of connection was that there simply wasn't enough time for it and because you got the sense that they just wanted us out as fast as possible. Now, I want to point out that I fully realize it's neither realistic nor fair to Mariah to go to a meet and greet and expect to be able to sit down with her for like an hour and share a one-on-one conversation with her. It would be very selfish of any of us to expect her to give so much of herself to so many people. She simply cannot do that because, first, there would never be enough time, and second and most importantly, it would be emotionally draining for her. There is only so much Mariah can give of herself to her fans, even though she appreciates our support. At the end of the day, she's a human being, not a machine. But since people spend enormous amounts of money on the tickets, the meet and greets should be organized better, so that the whole thing would run smoothly from start to finish. However, that is not Mariah's responsibility. Mariah's job is to be Mariah. She has to be "on" through the entire time. While it might not seem like it, her job is the most stressful of all. Her team needs to make sure that Mariah is secured and stays on schedule. They should also put in the effort to give fans their money's worth. It's not rocket science to make the meet and greets a great experience for all. It just takes some planning and organizing to do. But they have to plan and organize these tours anyway. Fans should be let known exactly how much time they have with Mariah and then be given some simple pointers beforehand, like to first take the pictures to get that out of the way, then talk to her, so to not risk the pictures. That would have been very helpful. I think each fan should get 30 seconds one-on-one time with Mariah, that's all. Cut in half, that would leave 15 seconds to take the two pictures successfully, then the other 15 seconds to get to talk to her to bond with her for a moment. Compared to the 7-10 seconds most of us got, 30 seconds would have felt like an eternity. Most importantly, her team needs to work the meet and greets in on the tour schedule. They should consider the fact that there will be at least 15 people coming to the meet and greets each show night. It would have made it much more pleasant for everybody had they not rushed us like the way they did. The same thing seems to happen night after night at most of the meet and greets. If the amount of time each fan would get to spend with Mariah would be set beforehand and taken in consideration when creating the schedule for the night, they wouldn't be in such a hurry. Just make sure to stay on schedule and explain to the fans that it's important to co-operate and be thoughtful of other fans and not try and linger with Mariah, so to not waste time for the next person coming in taking the picture. Also, less people should be at the scene to make it less haphazard. Obviously, the security team needs to be there as well as her hair and makeup people and the photographer and a few people who would make sure everyone got their 30 seconds, no more, no less. But don't have the entire entourage when it's not even needed.

I'm sorry, I usually don't comment on these things since it is not my business and I usually try to spread positivity. I know I might be backslashed for this, but here it goes. But do you realise how strange you come across? I can totally understand that you are in a sad place and life has been difficult for you. I have had a terrible last year and I am still struggling to get pass what has been the worst thing happening to me. You mention giving Mariah your grand grandmother diamond cross and you have a daughter? Wouldn't your daughter rather have it? I would do anything to have an item from my grandmother or even my mother. Mariah is a wealthy person, and although the gift was certainly kind but you basically gave away a family item to a stranger. Of course can do anything you want with your stuff. I just find it inconsiderable to your future family line. You don't pay your rent to come to see her. That is not something you should be doing, what is going to happen now when you get back? Will you lose your apartment and are your family dependent on this? I wish I could see Mariah when she was visiting the country I am currently in, but I have to pay my bills and I couldn't afford it. Last big adventure that my mother and I did before she died was seeing Mariah Carey. I wish I could have seen her this time but sometimes you have to make reasonable choices. I could have spent a few thousands to see her but then I would have been in a more difficult situation. You seem to think that Mariah will come and save you and are waiting for her "promises". I just don't know what you are expecting here. I don't know what she promised about or what you discussed but I worried that you put so much hope into something that is not given. Mariah sees many fans around the world but she is still a person. It feels wrong with this attitude that seem to come across from your postings. It shouldn't make you more important that another person/fan, sick or not sick. You can't put your hopes on one person, because then you will be, most likely, disappointed. I don't know what you discussed, but remember she is a person just like you, with her problems and her responsibilities. She can't just go and drop that for one person. And maybe it's possible for her to do whatever she promised, but she is not obligated to do so because one person asked her. I am sorry that you are in a terrible place and are suffering, but something I have learned from last year or so, how harsh it may sound like, is that people don't like a pity party. At some point you have to pick up your shattered pieces and try to live the best way you can no matter what situation you are in. Ok, maybe I was a bit harsh here and I apologise.

Juan, all is well, no worries. I'm glad you accepted my apology and I accept yours in return. Thank you for understanding. My heart goes out to you for not only what you've been through in your life but for all that you have sacrificed to have been at the meet and greet that night and now for still waiting to be contacted by Mariah's team. I hope it happens for you and that they keep their promise.

I know what you mean, I'm just concerned that like someone else who posted here, I am also on the drug Truvada, does this mean my teeth will also fall out (never been told this is a possible side effect, no pun intended) or should I just embrace the fact that it might lead to another meeting with Mariah?

New music (61,176)
by Tameka walker from United states
| |
|
|
I would love for Mariah to put something new out. I have gone too long without new music from Mariah. I love Mariah and I think that the reason why her career has slowed down is because people like me don't know how to download but if it was sold in music shops the singles Mariah would be surpass The Beatles. When Mariah singles comes out I so badly want to support her but I don't know how to download like the young generation does. I strongly believe that if in stores Mariah would soar to new heights.

Mariah fan book (61,172)
by Shirley from United States
| |
|
|
I made Mariah a book back in 2014 during her first annual Christmas show at the beacon theatre and I gave it to her but never got any feedback which I find very odd, because I have been to every Christmas show since 2014 and 2015 so that's 14 shows in total, and I tried getting her attention but I haven't been successful with that. I'm just hurt that I didn't even get a thank you or like "I read your book" because I came back every night after giving her that book and waited in the cold and rain for hours some time. It just makes me feel like an outsider once again. I know she's busy and I still love her and will be attending every show at the Beacon this year, but I'm just disappointed because she acknowledged another lamb who made her a book. Not that I'm mad because she did because I'm a lamb and I don't mean bad for anyone, I'm just sad.

Big thank you / picture quality (61,170)
by Tiina from Finland
| |
|
|
I just want to thank each one of you for understanding my point and dealing with my frustration and letting me vent. Thank you. And I really did not want to cause Juan to get upset. It's nothing personal. Someone asked about the quality of the pictures. My picture came in great quality which I'm really super happy about. It was just taken as I was walking up to Mariah, so I wasn't yet positioned for it. Luckily I turned my head and smiled at the camera but unfortunately Mariah is looking away. Some other fans got blurry pictures like the lense of the camera wasn't fully focusing or something. I don't blame the photographer because he looked stressed out. We were told they only take two pictures of each, so he had to nail those takes and because it all happened so fast, I'm sure it was a taunting task for him and unfortunately some pictures came out blurry.

Meet n' greet "scam" (61,168)
by Nikki from usa
| |
|
|
I do sometimes wonder if MC fans are even familiar with other artists. Most do charge huge globs of money for meet n' greets. Mariah has actually been one of the few that never did. However, with every artist and their mother signing up with LiveNation, which is quickly becoming a monopoly promoter, this could very well be contractual as the tour was a part of the deal. So, the packages would be too. I've seen meet n' greets that could cost up to 1-2 grand and all you get is a group photo with a bunch of other fans in the mix. I don't know how much it cost to go to her concert in Europe, but her residency in Vegas is still one of the cheapest available. Her nosebleed sections start at $50 while the front row is $250. Meanwhile, J. Lo's nosebleed section starts at $179 and her front row seats with meet n'greet packages can go up to $3,000. Just to give you an idea. This isn't the '90's anymore. Things are more expensive and artists' don't get paid for their music anymore even if they're lucky enough to get it heard.

Isn't it interesting that this article comes out after we've been piping up about how misleading the meet-and-greets are? Hmmm. It's anecdotes like this that trick lambs into spending a fortune when they're only going to get 1/20th of the publicized experiences.

Article: Mariah Carey skips "American Idol" finale (61,166)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
| |
|
|
First of all, congrats on the wise decision, Mariah. Who needs a show that has been a sinking ship since season 9 anyway? Funny how the writer of this article just focused on the Mariah-JLo feud and "neglected" to mention about Mariah's remarks about the show after she left. I guess it probably didn't occur to her/him that Mariah may not have been invited to do or say something in the first place? She was the only judge after all who was brave enough to call the show out. All I see is a writer choosing to perpetuate the feud between the girls to perpetuate it, intentionally leaving out the possibility it may actually be a feud between Mariah and the show. Classy.

I don't think There's Got To Be A Way is cheesy. I think it's dated. However, it's about social injustice and discrimination which is still ongoing and it would be a fitting addition to her European tour set list especially after the terrorist attacks.

I agree that the picture should be high quality but I don't think MC should spend an hour or longer with each fan that buys the VIP package. She would be there all night. However, if the picture is supposed to be shot by a pro why wasn't it high quality? Was it your camera or did they take the pic?

I think you have every right to be aggrieved about your experience. Anyone paying money with the expectation of a certain result or experience should get it. If paying E700 was for a picture with your idol and you got a poor quality picture - it's fair enough to be upset about it and unfortunately it shows the ultimate attitude that Mariah and her team are looking to make money. If it was "all about the fans" a membership to HoneyBFly would be enough to qualify for a meet and greet. I'm sorry that you didn't get what you want and has left a bitter feeling towards a star that you obviously like a lot.

I had no idea that there were some additional adlibs towards the end of this remix, as well as some re-arranged background vocals. Wow. I've always regarded TGTBAW as the cheesiest song in Mariah's catalogue, which nonetheless functions as a perfect vocal showcase.
