Re: Unreleased songs from MIAM / my ramblings (59,873) (59,876) by Giovanni from USA
Yes, finally an interesting topic. (No shade.) I too have wondered why Mariah never released those songs that never made the album. My guess is that she may have saved some for the next project. I have a feeling she has at least one or two amazing ballad type songs. I really want to hear "I'll still be around" and "Save the day". If infact they were actual songs. I remember when I first heard "Bring it on home" I was mesmerized. Even though it's not a full length song, it's still something great that Mariah should have finished and released. This is the type of music I want from her. But whatever's to come, I'm sure it will be good. I expect a new album around summer or by the end of the year.

Queen Mariah and Rihanna (59,875) by safe from jamaica
I guess it's important for Mariah and her team to note that in as much as we love Mariah we also want what we can always boast of about our incomparable queen of music, such as her being the solo artist with the highest No. 1 records. Hence all hands should be on deck to make sure Mariah's next album comes out with masterpieces of songs mostly danceable ones and the verses plus chorus should be a sing along type not a rush rush one that makes it difficult to understand, with few power ballads and catchy plus colorful highly budgeted videos of Mariah wearing different ensembles and hair colours, since the bulk of music listeners presently are more interested in visuals. We won't want to see Rihanna break that No. 1 records because it belongs solely to our incomparable queen. Queen Mariah you can make it happen please do it for your lambs.

Here's a performance of "Hero" from the CB tour in LA. She sounds impeccable, and looks fantastic too, total glam queen. Worth watching it. Her tone was so good in that tour, full, robust.

Unreleased songs from MIAM / my ramblings (59,873) by Marquise from USA
I've been wondering why no unreleased songs scrapped from the Me I Am Mariah album has surfaced yet. It seemed like an inevitable thing for a few unreleased songs from each of her albums to magically pop up, but nothing hasn't showed up. I don't know if Mariah has been working on a new album or is finished with one, but I hope she releases an mid/up-tempo song to get the buzz going a song like Obsessed, I'll Be Loving You Long Time, Thirsty, Migrate, It's Like That etc. with a good radio deal like they did for #Beautiful plus the TV promo. Then follow it up with a big catchy ballad that she can slay live, seeing that a lot of ballads are in the top 20 right now. Anyways I think they did a great job promoting Infinity and the Vegas show. Imagine the push her new single and album will get. I expect her to release a new album around August or September or early 2017 once her tour and Vegas residency is over so she can focus solely on promoting her new album. What do you lambs think?

Yeah, I know what you mean, completely. I understand you meant the GP. But, by the same token, there's no way to control how the industry changes, or the way things will play out, so might as well not invest effort in worrying about it. People who want to, will always find a way to diminish Mariah's success. I guess for me, it becomes about how much validity people are willing to give to that way of thinking.

Re: Rihanna - Mariah (59,870) (59,871) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Hey Deedre. Thanks for your post. See I agree with you, and just like you, I didn't become a Mariah fan knowing she is so successful. In fact when I first became a fan, it was solely because of her voice. I heard her voice and that just amazed me to no end. I am not even talking about the whistle. (Although when I heard that I was like is this even possible? Haha I was really young.) It's just her tone is so unique and remarkable, it just makes you take notice. At that time, I thought she was a lesser known singer (but she was already a huge star). I thought she was lesser known because where I am from, not many people know her music and more so back in the day. Very few people here know about Mariah and her catalogue. Michael, Britney, Spice Girls, Janet Jackson, BSB and the likes were the ones people were listening to here during that time (the 90s). So when I discovered her, I thought wow she has such a beautiful voice but why is she not famous? It was years later, after I got the internet that I realized what an accomplished star she is not only in the US but worldwide. I also got to know about the full capacity of her vocal range, all the multiple recognition she received and so on. I was so surprised that I was in the dark for so many years and at the same time I was so proud of her, and when she made history with her 18th #1, it was huge. Anyways, I maybe could not express it properly in my original post, but I wasn't talking about people like you and me (who are fans because of her talent and not number) but about the GP and non-lambs. They have already written her off on every other account, taking every opportunity to diminish her contribution, so her records are the only things people can't deny because they are set in stone, so this is why I get so bothered when any of her records are threatened. But that's just me, I just want her to always be on top. But I understand what you mean completely.

I totally get where you are coming from Mimi L. I understand your concern. We all love MC, but the headlines will be on her like white on rice no matter what she does. A record being broken by someone else is no exception to this. Whatever happens, happens, you know what I mean? It will play out regardless. There are always going to be people who make success more about numbers and titles. For some, that's what success means. It's not to me. I haven't followed Mariah since 1990 because of her 18 #1's or because she's promoted as the "Best Selling Female artist of all time". The titles are nice, but they aren't why I'll be here "til the end of time". Lol it's Mariah, the way her songs touch me, it's everything she's journeyed through, still managing to keep a smile on her face, it's her playfulness and sensitivity, it's her willingness to try things even when the public tears her apart for it, it's her choice to still be out there even despite every project or tour not reaching the coveted #1 spot etc. Just my 02 cents.

The only reason it debuted in top 10 was because Billboard changed the weightage of the Hot 100 formula. Under the old one, she would've most likely debuted at #18.

G, I think what Lee meant was to Stella's daughters Mariah is now a legacy act or a veteran. And he isn't saying it in a disrespectful manner, and I understand what he means, because Stella's daughters are like 11 or 12. They would be more interested in current pop stars like Katy and Beyonce more than Mariah because generally that's what today's generation is into. Of course we can't be sure, but in general, this is the scenario. Diana Ross is a legend, but like in my case, I never really bothered trying out her work or even Madonna's because they were before my time and when I started getting into music there were other people who were popular. That doesn't diminish Diana's contribution to the world, it just means that each generation ends up idolizing stars who are popular during their generation. So if we generalize the Bulochnikov kids, they are more likely to be interested in the Rihannas and the Taylors. I hope I could make you understand. Lately I have not been able to express myself properly haha.

Re: Rihanna (59,860) (59,865) by George Golden from UK
That would be a killer is she released an uptempo record with Beyonce. This is what I have been saying, she has wasted too much time mocking about. It's time to release a hit record. Throw away the old formular of rappers and release big uptempo records that can't be ignored.

No I didn't, which is why I asked. Clearly you have no respect for a legend who paved the way for many artists the same way Mariah has. As for this Brandy girl, "I don't know her". Good day Lee.

Yes Miss Ross is fabulous for a throwback. I haven't thought much of her when she used to be popular in 7th grade for being in Brandy's movie Double Platinum. You knew what I meant.

Re: Rihrih (59,858) (59,862) by Giovanni from USA
Haha, I can't with all those legendary shady responses from the one and only Mariah Carey. I think my favorite has to be the "I don't know her". Classic shade at its best.

Rihanna (59,860) by Musti from UK
I'm not too worried about her. I like Rihanna's music but "Work" is simply not a good song. She's #2 on iTunes at the moment but her airplay is at about 34m with small daily gains. There are other strong download and radio songs out there. Even if she does hit #1 it seems this is the only song on her album she can achieve that with. And I completely agree with Lee TS that Mariah would be gravely concerned by Rihanna having another #1. As with every lamb-turned-singer, I'm sure it's Rihanna's dream to top Mariah. This might push Mariah to write hits again. If she does decide to write a hit, let it be something we can dance to. Someone mentioned this earlier, this is partially why Mariah's music isn't popular anymore. It's Like That and Thirst are really the only Mariah songs that have club potential and even they can be a bit slow for clubbing. I don't mean EDM. She can easily write an R&B club banger. Maybe the duet with Beyonce? They can both do with a new #1 single.

Re: Top 3 favorite rap collabos (59,851) (59,859) by Bill from the UK
Mine would be:
1. Fantasy with ODB - It's obvious, but it lit the fire and I never tire of hearing it.
2. If We - My favourite song from Glitter. Have it on repeat for hours on end sometimes lol.
3. I Still Believe/Pure Imagination - So serene, melodic, inventive, soothing, slick, and soulful. For me this remix far eclipses the original version. It has absolutely nothing in common with the original except the title and for that reason I love it. Not that I don't love the original of course, but it just amazes me how she can produce a completely new song for a remix version.

Re: Rihrih (59,857) (59,858) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Lee dahlin' Rihanna can't possibly make history with her 14th #1 because then it has to be a feat no one achieved so far, and Mariah, Elvis and The Beatles have already been there, done that. But yes, I would like Mariah to get asked how she feels about Rihanna being her successor. What I envision is after the interviewer says Rihanna has her 14th #1 now, Mariah will be like "oh that's nice" followed by a painfully fake smile or a "I didn't listen to the song, I am listening to my own music." Then when he asks, "how do you feel about her gaining in on your record especially since she is such a lamb", we might get a "we love everybody come on" (with a teeth out smile simultaneously with a shrug), or a "I don't know her" or the legendary and "nail in the coffin" line "I don't think she has anything to do with me. My whole thing is singing. Writing songs. I've been doing this my whole life. Singing is first and foremost. It's a God-given talent that I'm grateful for. Her thing is something different." Haha Lord, I can't with Mariah being so quick with these lines. As for Stella's daughter, if Mariah sees what you wrote she will abandon Mishka in Disneyland.

Rihrih (59,857) by Lee TS from USA
I almost kind of want her to score that elusive 14th #1 single just so it lights up a fire in Mariah's booty. Maybe then she'll feel threatened by this lamb and want to hold on tight to her nearest and dearest #1 babies. Can you imagine during a radio interview, "Rihanna made history when she topped the Billboard Hot 100 with 'Work' and has always cited you as her main influence, did you get a chance to congratulate her?" I'll be living for Mariah's response lol. Remember M, we love everybody and must always stay gracious. Best revenge is your next #1. Sorry haha, being team too much here. But anyways, as hot as Rihanna can be right now even she needed a feature from Drake for her "lead" single. So let's not get on M's case if she decides to feature someone who's hot at the moment, although I do want a lead single that's just her. I do like Rihanna, she has bops and a very unique voice and she definitely stands out. But this Anti era of hers is getting messier by the minute and the Beyhive are living for it. Poor girl. Sidenote, Stella's older daughter had the chance to meet Katy and Beyonce because of Mariah. From the pictures and in my mind, those divas are what Stella's daughter see as stars and would get star-struck by. I remember not long ago on this board someone compared M to being like a Diana Ross for this generation. I was offended then but I understood. To Stella's daughter, again in my mind, she might see M as a Miss Ross. I can totally imagine Stella saying to her, "Mariah is a living legend and a star." With her daugther responding, "Yeah, back in your day." I mean, Stella's girls didn't even experience the impact of WBT. Sorry for the tangent.

Rihanna - Mariah (59,856) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
While Rihanna is no where near Mariah as a genuine artist (singer, songwriter, producer) what is sad is that if she does overtake Mariah, the headlines will be "Rihanna dethrones Mariah". All over. Mariah's 18 #1's is one of her bigger accomplishments and the fact that she has held this title for so long is a strong feat. She uses her 18 #1's and her biggest selling female artist label for promos everywhere. Yes, records are meant to be broken, but if someone takes down Mariah, I would rather have it be someone who is at least somewhat of a genuine artist, like maybe Adele. Yes, Mariah has nothing to prove to anyone but her commercial success is something that non-lambs know about and if people start taking over that too then the non-lambs will again have more ammo against her (along with the usual "she can't sing anymore", "when was the last time she had a hit?", "Mariah has passed by her sell date"). And all those. My main point is I love Mariah and I would want her successor to be someone who at least has some credibility as a genuine artist. Not a manufactured pop star. However I do not in any way support the thing I have been seeing floating around in this board talking about how she doesn't write good music anymore. That's bullshit. She had plenty of good songs, and a lot of them are not only radio friendly but also had potential to be hits. The only thing that is stopping her is her team's (or maybe her own) laziness/unwillingness to roll out a proper promo. Like dammit Mariah, roll out a fudging parade when you release something, let the world know. You have got to work on the promo. Everyone now has a small attention span so she can't just expect her name to do all the work, even current top artists are having to go to extreme promos to get their material heard. I am not saying twerk in a thong, but can we at least get you on some darn talk shows and have ads and skits and worldwide promo? Most people didn't even know MIAM exists because well we know why.

Triumphant (59,855) by Giovanni from USA
I'm sorry but I'm going to have to defend this song. I love it. It's uplifting, empowering and Mariah's voice sounds so damn gorgeous. But Rick Ross completely ruined it for me. I think if it had been a solo or had Mariah written more lyrics for herself it could have been more successful. I also enjoy the video very much.

Re: The emancipation of RiRi (59,847) (59,854) by Giovanni from USA
I'd hardly call Rihanna's new album an "emancipation". I mean she had to get Samsung to help her go platinum, and there's only one or two good songs on the album.

Re: Never forget you (59,831) (59,853) by Giovanni from USA
Exactly how I feel. Ballads seem to be what's current as of now. Mariah could definitely pull off ballads again like the good old days. Especially with a featured artist like John Legend or Sam Smith.
