I prefer a blue diamond they're more rare (59,293)
by 123 from USA

Was what Mariah's response was when someone's pink diamond engagement ring was all the rage. Now she's got one bigger than than B and Kim's combined-lol. The whole relationship, let alone engagement seems way to soon, but from what I've observed from afar, she seems to be in a really good space. She seems happy, has lost weight, and taken an interest in her career and voice again. I wish them both well and hope it lasts this time and hope the make each other happy.

Mariah doing her little make up for the day singing "Well at first I didn't know but now it's clear to me, you would cheat with all yall freaks and lie compulsively so packed up my Louis Vuitton jump in your ride and took, you'll never ever find a girl who loves you more than me." Shake It Off really is just an empowering anthem for girls to walk away. "Gotta make that move, for somebody who, appreciates all the love I give, gotta do what's best for me, baby and that's mean I gotta, shake you off." It's such a feel good record. Someone has mentioned he saw Nick cheating in France back in 2012. Mariah must've had really hard time letting go since they already have a family and she loves the twins so much. But I'm really happy for Mariah. Fingers crossed Packer treat her like the queen she is.

I get your point but what all I'm trying to say is whether it's a small role, serious role or whatsoever, she must be effective 100%. I just felt sad that after Precious, she gave that type of acting that is cringe-worthy and I know they are far different from each other but you know what I mean (the glowing effect when she is on, the scenes when she's like in a different set and all that), but it happened already so what else can we do and at least it's on Hallmark Channel. After all, I wish they learn something about it because consistency and credibility is everything. I don't want for Mariah to be mocked again because of her choice of acting projects.

Academy Awards (59,290)
by Andrew from UK

Old school subject. Watching Celine and Whitney. And then Mariah and Whitney at the [...]. General consensus is that Mariah kicked [...] ass on Oprah but at the [...] won. I recall being pissed at Whitney for her obvious battle at the [...] and seeing in Mariah's face that it was a losing game. I believe that Mariah loses to both on some levels and wins on others. Oprah was to me the definition of a singer vs an ego. I've shown everyone who will listen and they agree. But although Whitney and Celine have deep resonant voices and Mariah's a stretch vocal, I compare Oprah to the Academy Awards: why when Mariah holds the mic to her mouth during the high notes is she difficult to hear when we know that Mariah's high notes or head voice pierce? I watched Whitney live in 1999 and then Mariah in 2000. Mariah has a loud voice. It craps out the microphone. She mentioned it in Wembley in 2003 and laughed (it makes the lip sync vs live easy to hear). I'm confused by this. I'm not crapping on Whitney because she can sing shit better than Mariah. And Mariah sang shit better then her. Same with Celine. And therein lies the respect (but Mariah could sell). Essentially, I know Whitney has a belt and gospel, but Mariah is loud and requires adjustment. All I hear at the [...] is Whitney. I don't understand. Oprah was equal. Mariah has a pop voice. Why can I not hear Mariah at the Academy Awards?

Yes, I hope she had her eggs frozen if she ever decides to have more babies. She doesn't have to carry the baby herself. But it seems very unlikely since they both have young children already. Unless their love is so strong they want to create a little billionaire baby together, lol kidding. But yeah, I can't imagine Mariah wanting to have another baby.

I am happy for them both. Who knows how long this engagement will last. They are both still married to other people. It could be years before they actually tie the knot, but something tells me this marriage will last a long time. I wonder what their child would look like, if they decide to have one. That would be interesting.

I want to make very clear I'm not passing judgement on your post whatsoever. I respect your point of view I simply see it a bit differently. It's amusing to me that "A Christmas Melody" would even get compared to "Tennessee" or a Lee Daniels project. ACM is not trying to be anything more then a simple children's film for the holidays within the confines of the Hallmark Channel genre. Mariah knows the mood of the work she did in Precious and Tennessee is very different. I don't think her choice to work with Hallmark is as serious as it is sometimes made out to be. People try new things, experiment, and move on to the next thing. She will move on from Hallmark. Sure, yeah some may say doing three more projects for Hallmark is a "bad move". We'll see what comes to fruition. I can kinda see the attraction both for the small scale experience, and being motivated by the twins. Whether people agree or not, it's her choice.

Tennessee (59,284)
by Malcolm from Asia

So I just watched Tennessee for the first time and Mariah is so natural and great in there and I'm like thinking to myself "So what happened with A Christmas Melody?" She's doing great when Lee Daniels is her director, I don't know what magic or something is Lee doing with Mariah when they are working together but it's so excellent. I wish the Empire appearance will push through or in HTGAWM even better. Mariah only need that consistency in acting like what she did in The Butler, Tennessee, and Precious then she's okay, she will not be poked fun when it comes to acting anymore. I don't need another ACM type of acting when she's like so into herself when she has the ability to become a serious, great, and respectable actress.

The ring (59,282)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Can we let it rest already? So what if he spent 7.5 million on it? It's his money. He didn't snatch it from anyone. He knows how much Mariah loves her diamonds and he probably just wanted to make her super happy by giving her an uber expensive ring (an offer she can't refuse, ok ok don't kill me, I am just kidding, Mariah can afford it on her own but just saying). They both do their share of charity, if they have leftover money (which um yes they do, in millions and billions) then they can splurge it in whichever way they like. Heck Packer can swim around naked in a pool full of diamonds. Let it be. Let the woman be happy, let her have moment instead of making it into a rich-poor situation.

James Packer - charity (59,279)
by Jenny from South Africa
| |
|
|
I googled James and charity since people were wondering if he donates to charity and he set up a fund in 2014 into which the Packer family and his business have pledged to donate 20 million dollars every year for the next 10 years. It's going to go towards education and the arts for disadvantaged people. And the Packers have been donating a lot of money to other good causes for years. So if he wants to spoil his fiancée then I personally don't think we should hold it against him. But that's just my humble opinion.

Re: In search for the right kind of lover (59,269) (59,276)
by May from Denmark

Why would you say James Packer has no emotional stability? Do you know him in person? "All" the wives he has had? He had two wives, just like Mariah had two husbands. He was with his first wife for about 3-4 years. And he dated his second wife for more than 3 years before getting married, and their marriage lasted 6 years. He is not even in the artistic ambient per se, his colleague Brett Ratner is, Packer is a business man, not a showman. Why people are saying that Mariah's engagement is too fast... fast was everything that happened with Nick Cannon, and they lasted together some good years. At the end of the day it doesn't matter if you dated a couple of months or years, because a relationship is built day by day, it's a partnership, and the only thing that will help it last is how much effort each other put to make it work in the bad times, everyone can enjoy easily the good days. There's always ups and downs, and is in the "downs" when you really see if you are compatible. You can always find someone with your same taste in food, like to go to the same places, enjoy the same movies, etc. but if there are no common projects, if there are no agreements in each others conversations, if there's no admiration for one another, no matter how much you and him like pizza and walks in the beach, it won't last. I would like to just be positive about Mariah and Packer, she seems so happy and eager to work again. And if there's something we all love about Mariah, is her music, so if this relationship inspires her to do more then I'm very happy. After all, an European tour is not something you hear from Mariah often, it's a big step and she wouldn't take it if she didn't feel so confident. Was Packer who gave her the confidence? Was her happiness? Her new team? Whatever it is, I like what is going on in Mariah's life right now. Davidf, you say that the man can have any woman he wants, are you meaning that Mariah is less than a model? Because a person has money is supposed to be some nasty womanizer as Dan Bilzerian? Because Packer had of those models and clearly if he went for Mariah, is because she is in another league, much higher and all I can say is that he has really good taste because Mariah is one and only one in the entire planet, models, there are millions cut in the same shape.

If I am not wrong, I think she did not release "If We" in fear of people thinking that she stole the idea from JLo. Or she copied JLo. But yes she probably could have banked on the controversy.

Vegas (59,274)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

I think Mariah will be done with Vegas this February. She has a Wrap Party scheduled at 1OAK club on the 20th of February. I say it's a good thing. She already has a lot of stuff scheduled for this year with the huge European tour and we all know she will go on several vacations. Taking Vegas out of the picture leaves some room for her to write new songs. I know she wrote a lot of song for TEOM while on the Charmbracelet tour but at that time she was single and had time. Now she is a mother of 2 and has a new fiance. She won't have much time between shows to write songs so she needs some free time.

I agree it's a lot of money for one ring. I always think if you're that rich help the world you live in while treating yourself, we live together and we should help each other. I know Mariah has given a lot to charities, as well as her own charity she set up so long ago. I'm not sure about James and I've never looked into him, I hope he gives and I think being around Mariah he might start too. Don't forget all the royalty and politicians (not to mention the Catholic church) on this planet have enough money to lift places like Africa out of poverty. But doing that would make Africa a country to be reckoned with. Not to mention getting oil and those things would be nearly impossible.

Hi. Both Mariah's Wikipedia and Nick's Wikipedia show them as divorced in 2015. That change only happened during the last few months of 2015 so I would say it's probably accurate. The engagement might be a little soon but if she's happy then I'm excited for her. She seems much more confident the last few months and it looks like she's in a great place. They're both in the 40's so maybe they don't want to waste time if they're already sure. He seems like a good guy. Congrats Mariah and James.

In search for the right kind of lover (59,269)
by David F from Mexico

Miss Mariah is in search for true love, it is written all over in her songs. True love is very hard to find. Mr Packer has no emotional stability, look how many wifes he had, he can have any lady whenever, wherever, he has lots of money. I have the feeling he is going to break Mariah's heart later on. Mariah needs to settle with a non artistic man. I like Michael from Kelly Ripa show for her I saw they had chemistry. Good luck Mimi and start new business ventures with this man at least get some.
