Girls' Generation - Dear Santa (58,108)

Well, hmm, I don't think I'm totally reaching when I say I hear WBT wrapped in Christmas vibes here. I don't really follow KPop but I do know them and I couldn't stop replaying this teaser. They're so beautiful here and like, I'm actually anticipating this new joint haha. So pretty.

No to Bieber (58,107)
by Lee TS from USA
| |
|
|
Ugh he just annoys the heck out of me. Good for him that's he's enjoying some chart success and finally getting his Billboard Hot 100 #1, not everyone has that to their credit. His diva antics are way too much, like his fans suggests he's forever on his period with his outbursts and whatnot. My thing is, the boy cannot sing. Like seriously? How come the media hasn't got on him about those so-called vocals. I saw a performance of him on either Today Show or GMA singing What Do You Mean and it was rancidity at its peak dahlings. And I don't think that was his first time having live horrid vocals either but I digress. I need Mariah to avoid Bieber like how Timberlake avoided Yours.

Kelly and Michael (58,106)
by Manny from U.S.

|
I liked the interview with Kelly and Michael. When Kelly made the comment about singing along with Mariah, I thought it was funny. Who hasn't tried to sing along with her, and we are off key. Michael made a comment of how a singer would not want to have a backup in her who sings better. This reminded me of Brenda K Starr, who was a mediocre singer. Mariah seems to be more open when she feels comfortable with the interviewer. The whole thing with the lip sync. Realistically, she will always do it. Unless, her mom reminds her how to handle those cords. I imagine Pat telling her, "I'm a prima donna, in opera we sung live dahling."

Switching the mode (58,105)

Mariah should revamp her songs when she sings live, especially if it is televised. If she can't sing the songs like 90s Mariah anymore, why not sing them like the current Mariah? It's okay if she dodges notes sometimes, just do what her voice can do right now. After all, her current voice can do some things better than her 90s voice. One of them is being raw and emotive. So why not just strip her performances raw and simple? Simple doesn't equate to weakness, less is more, right?

True. But I want a completely stripped down version, because her voice right now has such rawness and warmth that will suit acoustic sounds perfectly.

I think so, but she needs amazing performances. That's why she needs to slay Rockefeller this year and probably book other events where she can actually sing live. The dream is to get AIWFCIY to #1 because it's a bit weird that her biggest song has never even hit the top 20. C'mon lambs, we can do this.

Can't Say No (58,101)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
I see someone is desperate for attention again. Fine, I will call on you this one time. Trey was interviewed stating that Saint Tommy pulled the single from the shelves to drive up album sales as the song was peaking which caused it to stall at number 2. Mariah has also stated that she was upset that the high notes were removed from the radio edit because the label thought they "were too much for radio". So the inaccurate one is you, as Tommy also hindered her career and even sabotaged it temporarily once she left him. She did as much for Tommy as he did for her. She brought the insane talent, voice, and songwriting. He needed a big star to help launch his career and she was his meal ticket. Unlike Whitney and Celine, she created the music and the songs that went number 1. So if Can't Say No does do well, stick it to him I say. Tommy and Nick shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence nor did I bring him up. R&B isn't really the problem, it's the quality of the material on her Epic releases that were the problem (Infinity/Why You Mad). Justin is still in the beginning of his career so he should be charting well and just like BSB, NSync, he will disappear once he ages or gets married. Class dismissed.

Oh she's aware of the criticism. You'd have to live in oblivion not to be. Spend under 5 minutes reading comments on any one of her social media platforms, and you'll find it. Like you said, she can beat herself up far wose than anyone. The shame and blame approach just isn't effective for any human being, but generally society collectively seems to think it's okay if you are a public figure. IMO it's not okay for anybody. It also doesn't mean as a fan I have stuck my head in the sand and I'm expecting her to sound the way she did at 19.

AIWFCIY goes top 10 on Swedish iTunes at #8 (58,098)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End

Yep. All I Want has been rapidly rising on iTunes all November. Compared to last year, when it didn't quite manage to break the top 10 even in December, it's a remarkable feat. It means Mariah's profile in Sweden has been raised significantly this past year and it's a positive progression. I love when she gets rewarded for her hard work and the Anti-Mariah agenda fails. Talking about: Mariah Carey should retire. Fools. NTT: "Hate on me as much as you want to. You can't do what the [censored] I do. Bitches be emulating me daily."

I would love it if Mariah did a MTV Unplugged show again to commemorate her first groundbreaking album. How great would that be for her to perform each song with a live band and listen to her commentary about the making of each song and how she adapts the runs throughout each song on her debut album with her current voice. The general public all knows Mariah has talent and could sing but I think to your point, the conversation among many people now is that she commonly lip synced and cheats parts of songs live. That's my wish. She's has an incredible catalog of songs I would love to hear live and stripped own. What's your take?

Travon and GMA (58,095)

I am so sorry about the name thing. And she did have a forced smile and sad look when they showed that clip. I feel bad for her. A meme came up on my timeline saying "All I want for Christmas is my voice back". I feel like if she could hit award shows the way she hits concerts she would silence the haters. And she has looked stunning lately. It's frustrating when you're a superfan like me and have seen every interview so we know it all. I'm sure several of you will agree, if we hear that beauty school dropout story one more time, we're going to glitter the elusive chanteuse with a whole bunch of butterflies without emancipation.

I just wish that Mariah realize something in terms of performing after they showed that clip and I'm thankful to GMA because it can be really an eye-opener for her to do good. I'm not saying she must do what she did back in time because I respect and accept that she have limits now but instead to just perform well; sing from her heart and from what she's comfortable range like what other lambs mentioned. Please MC do it, it's not 90's anymore where is all about big voices and songs, don't be too harsh on yourself. I assure everyone will be more glad if you will be true to yourself and will eventually love and see you as a legend as you must be.

I highly disagree, there is criticism and there is criticism. Some made me think about things differently after they gave "valid points" that were (a little) negative, but it's the tone and the respect for the artist when they deliver criticism what makes the difference.

Do you think she can make top 5 with promo? Those other rtists in the top 10, except Adele and maybe JB, I expect to fall off soon because their music is starting to age. Radio and sales we expect to be great but I believe streaming will help her this year. She is already #52 on Spotify with AIWFCIY. What do you think?

I agree. Mimi has been rocking "the Mimi" look for years now, whether she rocks a micro-mini skirt, a sparkling, cut-to-there gown, an outfit decked out with diva-appropriate accessories or a super-plunging stretchy top. Then she will give us a little sexy flash with anything sheer or sequins. She is stunning. I am anticipating her Christmas performance.

I want a TV performance like that. Stripped and stays to a range comfortable to her (which is still really wide if you count in her whistles and head voice because the only part problematic to her is the middle-upper belts). Imagine her singing a stripped down version of AIWFCIY with only an acoustic guitar. It would be magical.

Rihanna won't really make an impact this time, so Mariah could chart in the higher part of the Top 20 or even the lower end of Top 10. (Only Adele, JB and Drake are in the Top 5. The lower part is the hits that are already slowing down like Stitches, Wildest Dreams and 679 so I'm feeling pretty good about AIWFCIY's chart performance this year.)

Did anyone catch GMA commentators afterwards saying Mariah Carey teased them about a potential album release 2016? I am surprised I am the only one who got that. I pay attention to detail always. This detail was commenting reaction. I loved the reaction from the commentators. I am excited for 2016. Mariah said last month alot of companies have approached her and we should expect exciting things. She said MAC approached her for this line on Steve Harvey this week. MAC doesn't approach much for endorsements. If that is anything to go on 2016 is going to be a media onslaught. 2016 album, complete MAC collection 2016, reported European tour mid year, Vegas residency, and other endorsements we don't know but Mariah confirmed. If you thought the last few months were busy, well, next year is shaping to be a scary great year for Mariah Carey. My fellow lambs shape up or ship out because Mariah's got me feeling emotions, deeper than I ever dreamed of. Dahlings.

To comment on what you said about LA, his remarks might have been for a couple of reasons: 1. He truly believes it, and I personally don't think that Mariah releasing an American Songbook album is a bad thing (she has the perfect voice and tone for it now). 2. He was trying to not oversell it, in case it didn't work out with her next album/song. Which it didn't. This way, if she does score another #1, it will have a much bigger impact. 3. Not about the remarks, but about handling Infinity. She had plenty of live performances around the release of Infinity, and you can promote it all you want but if the song's no good, then nothing else will ever happen to it. If she had wanted to release "Why You Mad" she could have just posted it (depending on what's in her contract, of course). Or "leaked" it. Or just finally time it right so the video drops at the same time as the song. Especially since Jussie Smollett is in it. Has anyone else noticed that some of the biggest hits lately came out of a video release first? Adele, Missy. And to be honest, Missy is kind of in the same category as Mariah in the sense that they're both "past their prime" (I hate that phrase, but bear with me) but still the best at what they do.
