I mean no offence, but... (57,981) by Todd from Melbourne, Australia
First and foremost, I love Mariah Carey and pretty much everything she does (with exception to You're Mine (Eternal)). And when I saw that there was some clips of her interview with Steve Harvey I was all "woohooo" and watched them immediately. Mariah recently has been so reserved. I saw her in concert twice about this time last year, and her banter with the audience was amazing, she was relatable, funny, intelligent and sweet. But in recent interviews, it's like there's absolutely nothing behind her eyes. Even the way she was gripping on to the seat in the interview. The emotion and personality has been completely zapped from her face. I'm not saying this to be mean, I'm saying it from a place of disappointment, because she is such a likeable person when she is with her fans. I just wish she would relax and be herself. Maybe this is a bit premature given I haven't seen the entire interview, but it's just my thoughts.

Does anyone know where we can watch the full interview?

You are entitled to your opinion ofcourse, but if you watched the video the facts are there. I'm just reporting the facts that supports my theory. There was no "unnecessary shade" thrown Whitney's way dear. We love Whitney and know that her and Mariah were on the best of terms before she left this earth.

New Christmas Melody clip via EW (57,968) (57,974) (57,977) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
IKR? It's obviously b-roll. Meaning, it's not necessarily a part of the finished product yet. That takes a lot of technical synchronising, color treatment, sound-editing etc. It could be also be a scene that was cut from the movie because it was superfluous or didn't move the story forward, hense why she even leaked it as is. If so, it's a brilliant teaser in this spoiler dense era. ACM is still in post production. I mean, it's been just a week since she took that diva in bed picture where, lest we forget, she was doing voice-over work. I don't know, but I could be right.

Did anyone listen to the Steve Harvey morning show on the radio this morning? Just curious as they usually discuss his talk show as well.

A Mariah Carey vanity project, you don't say? Sign me up. Of course she's vain and has better lighting she a director now. How foolish. Looks like the film critics wil be reusing those Glitter barbs this Holliday season.

Re: Bad Blood: Melt Away et al. (57,973) by Lee TS from USA
This I do have to agree with you Baby. And to help prove your point further, Mariah couldn't even sing her own song that she wrote. Tommy the Grinch who literally snatched her vocals off of "Where Are You Christmas?"

Bad Blood: Melt Away et al. (57,942) (57,946) (57,972) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
"Didn't Mariah write Melt Away specifically for this soundtrack, but it got snubbed from it? Am I wrong?" I wouldn't be surprised if it was ultimately Tommy who actually put the kibosh on Melt Away being on the Exhale soundtrack. He's always seemed especially vexed at Mariah having any successes in the movies. I'm pretty sure it stems from Mariah's initial contract with Warner being a soundtrack song and his need to keep the myth of having "made" Mariah intact when she had esentially already "made it" before meeting him. He couldn't risk her being a big hit in a business where he didn't really have any real pull. He must have always known she wanted to eventually go into acting and obviously did everything in his power as her record label president to keep that from happening. Once they divorced it became his mission to thwart her every effort, both musical and filmic from reaching its full potential. We all know the culmination of his devilled madness that gifted the world with JLo and made the Glitter era such a wonderful time for Mariah and Lambily. Oh, but the memories. Remember how Hero was supposed to be on a soundtrack and sung by Gloria Estefan? Why couldn't Mariah have kept it for herself and also put it on the soundtrack? Ever wonder why Gloria but especially Celine had so many soundtrack theme songs being signed to Columbia and Sony yet Mariah was conspicuously absent from any such projects? Sip that tea real slow. But, you didn't hear it from me.

Re: New Christmas Melody clip via EW (57,968) (57,971) by Lee TS from USA
Oh dear I'm glad you brought this up. I seriously can't even know what to say and don't really have anything nice to say to be honest. Like you, I don't want to judge the whole effort based on a short teaser clip but it was messy. Now I don't know nothing about directing or cinematography or whatever, but it just didn't flow. The scene was very jarring, and the only thing that saved it for me was Lacey. I don't know why the camera insisted on zooming in so close on Mariah's face. My thing is I needed Mariah to convince me she was Melissa, and her expressions were so, sorry but it was very Glitter-esque. And I needed melody in her voice if that makes any sense.

Mariah's new substance (57,969) by JAXGH from United States
Hercules Premiere July 2014. Meaning she was moving on from Nick. (His interview was March 2014.) I guess right after that they started to actually separate. Because they were going strong still on February 2014 for "You're Mine (Eternal)". It's crazy how things have changed in a year or so. But I'm happy Mariah is in a happy place and doing her thing. Beauty business, a movie, sold out shows and new music with an extremely successful guy she deserves. And then there's Nick is posting countless dramatic quotes on Instagram making himself look "grown" while constantly following models every 5 minutes. You really realize who was the good, honest, faithful person in the relationship by who's God decided to bless more. Nick also seems to show off his kids when in actuality Mariah is the one there spending all day with them most of the time. But everything happens for a reason. New experiences, new challenges, new emotions, meaning new substance, meaning this next album is something to look forward to. It takes adversities for artists to create great body of work. I don't like saying her previous albums were uninspired but this time, the emotions, soul and artistry will be pow. To the second power.

New Christmas Melody clip via EW (57,968) by CDC from CA
I know we should all wait for the final product before making presumptuous critiques but I just cannot stop loling at that new clip of Mariah and Lacey Chabert in A Christmas Melody. Let us start with: This is a scene in which two people are talking. At no point in the scene does the camera pan out to a wider screen shot to show that two people are talking. Post 2000 Mariah Careymusic video requisite glamour shot compilation kinda tease. Also, does anyone else notice that the Mariah shots are little differently from the Lacey shots? Mariah's is softer, and almost glows more, and Lacey's is just... regular. Which means that Mariah either changed the lens to film herself, or her scenes were edited afterwards. I'll stop until I see the full movie but I am in tears cackling at this scene. It'll probably do well in ratings but I think its fate will at very best land in camp territory, or as a package filled with new additions to the Mariah Carey meme canon (its rightful place as a Mariah Carey vanity project).

I believe you're wrong. Unnecessary Whitney shade. This song was meant for Daydream. Mariah wouldn't even have approached for the soundtrack tbh.

She's stunningly gorgeous in all the clips. But did anyone catch that? Hercules premiere? So her and James have been on the down low for quite awhile. If my memory serves me right, the first divorce rumors came after that premiere. Anyway, ain't she pretty?

This Kyla always leaves me with my mouth open. Her tone is so pure and beautiful. It takes a lot to cover Mariah, and to do it so elegantly.

She did a good job. When people cover, I never expect it to sound the way Mariah does. But she held her own. Good for her.

Whitney vs Mariah (57,958) by Myles from CT, USA
Anyone remember this show on VH1 in the early 90s? They played back to back Whitney and Mariah videos only. The 90s was and will always be the best decade for music.

Article: Mariah Carey on the best things (57,957) by Marissa from USA
I thoroughly enjoyed this interview. I like the fact that MC can admit her weaknesses (like when she was talking about how she doesn't look good in red lipstick) unlike other celebrities who have egos the size of Russia and pretend that everything they do and wear is a hit. I also was surprised that she carried on a conversation about being a star in the '90s. Usually that spirit of "eternally 12" gets such a stronghold on her that she doesn't even acknowledge that she was alive back then. That was a big step in the right direction. In terms of her alluding to not getting credit for a lot of the trends that she started, I don't want her to get bitter about it which I sense she is already becoming. What's happening to MC has happened to every legend. After a certain point people forget the impact that you have made on the industry. Despite the 12 year old trolls in YouTube comments shouting that Ariana Grande is better than Mariah, I'd be willing to bet that there are way more people who consider Mariah a legend than there are people who are trying to tear her down. It's a matter of which side she focuses on more and she's giving people who don't give her credit too much attention.

Re: A little response (57,947) (57,955) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Woah. Your response kinda threw me for a loop. I don't know what I was expecting but I'd never really considered that the language barrier would have made Mariah's music inaccessible to the working class in Mexico and more popular with the upper middle class. That's almost the polar opposite of what her brand is: positive, universal and accessible. Initially I was most shocked about her never having performed in concert in Mexico but that sorta made sense once I reread your post and got the real tea on how she hasn't connected with the masses over there. I guess her connection to Luis Miguel didn't translate to expanding her popularity in Mexico any more than it did for him in the Anglo-American market. I wonder why she wasn't ever properly promoted in Mexico when it's so close to America? Japan is a lot farther away both culturally, linguistically and geographically yet she is the biggest selling foreign act in Japanese recording history. Anyway, Gracias for the breakdown Lamb. Me gusta.
