JD / Mimi L (53,872) by Licia from USA
JD told no lies in this interview. I'm not a fan of him saying it so publicly though. I feel like he should have said this to her privately, but again he didn't lie. I know that JD loves and respects her and he wants the best for her. He still made sure to remind people why she is one of the baddest singers alive at the end of the interview. She needs more people like that in her corner rather than people who will kiss her behind for a paycheck. I'd rather her hear the truth from people who really care about her than hear bs from people who just want to see her fail. Mimi L I agree about the AI comments. I feel the comments are unnecessary at this point and although we as fans understand why she feels the way she does about the experience, the general public will only see her as being catty or snotty.

First of all, hey, nice to meet you. I don't think I talked to you before so I didn't start off on the wrong note. Anyways about the AI comment, see you are right in a way, but I just feel like Mariah no longer needs to say anything about AI anymore. You know? Just shake it off. I mean if a dog bites you, you can't or rather you shouldn't bite it back haha. Nigel is an asshole who was trying to play the blame game. Mariah is above Idol. She doesn't need to react to someone like that. I think it would have been much better if she would have just politely dismissed it. Mariah knows she needs an image overhaul and I believe she cares enough to actually try changing things. I mean just her recent interviews show how she is trying to fix her image. She comes across as funny and sweet. The AI comment is not something she should associate her brand with at this time. The timing is just not right. About Madonna, maybe you are right but from the news I see of her, I can see she is ridiculed worldwide for still trying to act young, wearing grills, the drake kissing incident and all that. I see GP calling her out a lot.

Lambs (53,868) by Abraham from USA
Some lambs are a little too defensive when it comes to Mariah. I get the love, respect, admiration but it's like no one can say anything bad about her. JD kept it 100 and I agree with him. Sometimes Mariah lives in la la land and thinks any song she releases will be a hit. That she can do no wrong. I see some changes she's made but I still think she's lost musically. "Infinity" shows that.

Pot calling the kettle black (53,867) by HeatSeek from
Some of you guys on this board calling MC ungrateful, it is a bit much. How quick people are to forget a radio interview she did a couple days gone by where she thanked her fans for being great. Some of those accusing MC of being ungrateful actually sound ungrateful themselves. What can I say? There seems to be a lot of the pot calling the kettle black here. Wonder how many people on this board could stand up to the constant barrage and still hold their heads high. To what at many times is unwarranted criticism about much to do about nothing really. I'm quite sure many would crack under the pressure before it even really got going. I know this will probably go over most people's heads, but hey. Don't worry about the splinter in MC's eye, worry about the plank in your own.

B (53,866) by Abraham from USA
I have to disagree with you on JD B. To state his beats are boring is a lie. If that were true than "Me I am Mariah" is boring. He produced a lot of hot tracks on the album. And I'm sure he'd had come out with something better and hotter than "Infinity". Mariah definitely needs to work with some new producers and collaborations though. She needs a new sound. You keep mentioning Miguel and Happy Perez but forget about Pharell.

Regarding Madonna, I see news about her mostly on my Facebook feed, maybe because she's coming to Manila this year. It's mostly positive things about her, and how her fans still put her on a pedestal (though her last great album was Ray of Light). Also, I suppose she's more respected in the industry than Mariah. Now, I can't quite make up my mind about AI. On one hand, I agree with you: that she should have said it differently, in a more diplomatic way. So as not to irk the public. Clean image. Nice diva, eh? That would have been great. On the other hand, I was thinking she fought her way to be where she is, and she's not a legend for no reason. She's a survivor. And if that guy blames her for the demise of the show, shouldn't she speak up her mind and be honest about what her experience was like? That they basically use her and that rapper, and that it was fake, which a lot of people already know anyway. So why can't she be truthful?

DYKWYGT and Whenever You Call (53,864) by Bill from the UK
So I was browsing through Spotify (UK) today and saw that DYKWYGT and Whenever You Call with Brian both now have single releases (1 track, but with unseen before artwork). They are also on iTunes to buy. I guess this is due to the original #1's being deleted/out of print. Sweetheart and When You Believe are still available on The Essential and Greatest Hits.

Bino (53,862) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I was referring to your post, yes. But I'm glad we are on the same page about "maintaining it". Honestly, I don't ask for her to be spotless and wholesome. I don't mind her glamorous, slightly over the top image. I have no problem with her saying "dahlin", in fact I actually like it, I don't mind her criticizing her own videos too. But I did think the AI comments weren't necessary especially at a time when people were warming up to her. I also do think that sometimes she rubs people the wrong way. Now no one can be perfect, I'm just saying, I was rooting for the Mariah we have been seeing giving those interviews in Vegas. About Madonna, I don't know where you are checking Madonna news but everywhere I see, people are making fun of Madonna back and forth. Calling her old, desperate and sleazy. Madonna gets a lot of hate too. Mariah isn't the only one. Same happened to Michael and Whitney. So it comes with the legend status.

Re: JD's comments about MC (53,860) by Ardis Logic from Earth
I hear what he is saying, but Mariah is going to do what she wants. It seems like she has this vibe about her now like "Love me or hate me, take it or leave it. It is what it is." You know, I kind of like it. Why should she work so hard to put this image out there that people are expecting of her? Even if she did do that, you can bet that there would still be criticism. You can't please everyone. She just wants be herself and have a good time doing it, and you know what, she deserves that. Like the song says, "It's like that y'all".

Re: Mimi (53,859) by Bino from
If you're referring to my post, that is not exactly what I said. "'MC has earned her respect long time back, she doesn't need to get it anymore' attitude is very wrong. Earning respect and maintaining it is what matters." There I agree with you completely. But what I said is quite different, it is that Mariah doesn't need to get something she has earned a long time ago. She's not Ariana. Now, maintaining that respect is another story. Though I find the idea that she needs to constantly be this wholesome, spotless, machine woman that people expect of her ridiculous. I mean Madonna (I love her) can say bitch and fuck all the time, and people will still bow down and call her the queen. Mariah says daaahling and people will say she's a difficult diva. Mariah makes fun of herself in her old videos, and people say she's ungrateful. I mean, poor woman. Mariah may have lost some fans, but she is still respected, and like I said, in time, she will get some more.

JD and rants (53,858) by Bino from
Since he was already in the business of ratting on Mariah (as opposed to talking to her privately as friends would do), he should have also had the guts to tell us why Mariah doesn't take things as seriously as she should. Was he talking about the last album? It makes you wonder about the kind of expectations people have on her. Isn't she supposed to be the most hardworking woman in the industry as many people have claimed? On a different note, Mariah just posted her rant on IDWC. To quote: "I'm just having fun with these videos." So, there, the girl just wanna have fun. Let her be. Oh, but no, she's not taking things seriously. Maybe she doesn't anymore. After 25 years of hard work and maybe that realisation that she will never please everyone and get the recognition she deserves, she just doesn't want to take things too seriously. She's got different priorities too now I suppose. No more drama, no more meltdowns?

JD (53,857) by B from USA
Wow. Did he really think this would endear him to the public or do him any favors? He hasn't helped Mariah since 2005. If he really had her best interest in mind he should have suggested that she work with new producers and hire a capable manager. He's all about that paycheck. He can't manage a checkbook. I hope they remain friends but I don't know if that's possible after his disparaging remarks. I honestly think Mariah needs new producers and collaborators. I think she should call up Miguel and Happy Perez. JD's beats are dated and boring.

American Idol backlash and Jermaine (53,855) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I think MC made a wrong move by calling out AI. I get that they played her and she was in many ways used as a pawn to get publicity but it has been 3 years now, I think when asked about Idol, she could have just taken the politically correct route and said something like maybe "It was a new experience for me, but maybe it's not something meant for me." I know a lot of people here will now say that Nigel blamed her for its demise, well no one took Nigel's words seriously and all the articles where he made those comments were filled with remarks from readers like "AI was dead long before the MC-NM drama" and all. No one apart from Nigel thought MC was responsible. But now with MC making such a direct remark on such a big show is causing her a lot of backlash. People are literally reading her to filth. I feel like after all the image cleansing MC was going through, this comment by her caused a lot of damage to her image overhaul. She should have been the bigger person and just politely dismissed the question. JD's comments are also something I agree with. Yes saying this on TV was not right maybe, but I have a feeling he said these to her a lot personally but she never really listened. I agree that if MC wants to remain in the business she needs to take it seriously. Things were going so good for her, I just feel that starting from the AI comments everything took a huge step back. It's one thing to criticize your own work, but in a business where image is everything, one has to be careful about what they say. Also about the whole "MC has earned her respect long time back, she doesn't need to get it anymore" attitude is very wrong. Earning respect and maintaining it is what matters. People nowadays have almost no respect for her. A lot of it has to do with her behavior on big shows - talk shows, radio shows and all. She can unleash her humor in places where it's between her and her fans but in shows seen or heard by the majority of the population it is crucial to maintain a certain image. Anyways, I felt pretty bad by what is going on for the past few days. I thought this era would be more organized. It started of real well then started fluctuating. Now it's a semi mess with still no video out. No word on remixes. How can they let a song die out which is sitting in the same list as her biggest hits?

I think I Don't Want To Cry has taken on new meaning for Mariah. It's the best video from the debut era. I haven't seen the director's cut of the video, have any of you? Is it on YouTube?

Re: Bino (53,853) by Malcolm from Asia
Yes, she earned that respect a long time ago but this generation, they doesn't respect Mariah as she must be. Let's face the reality that MC is not earning that respect from them; I always checked whenever she mentions on websites etc. the comments are mostly bad and harsh about her and I will not elaborate why did that happened because we all know what it is. As for her career's condition now and how the public/non-lambs sees her, she and her team must plan every step and every move that they will make, so that Mariah Carey will be pleasant again to the public eye and eventually see her big contributions to the music industry and give the respect that she deserves.

MC's rants (53,850) by Ardis Logic from Earth
Ok I finally found the video rants. I love how she is doing this, it's a great way to reconnect with the fans again. I think it's hilarious how she is annoyed by things in those early videos. Like someone mentioned when you look at dorky pics of you when you were a pre teen with braces and glasses on and your just like "yuck" and your parents are like "but you were so cute". No but seriously. When "Someday" came out I was like 12 years old and I thought she was so "cool" in that video. I could relate to the kids in the video and it really was a great idea as a marketing plan but MC just sees it as a bad memory. That's funny.

Re: M (53,849) by Bino from
No, it's not supposed to be serious. It is what it is: a short, impromptu, candid, casual, making-fun-of-myself, here's-some-trivia-to-my-lambily clips. She doesn't need to get some respect; she has earned it a long time ago. And she will be bigger in time, like the Beatles and Elvis. These refreshing clips are for the Facebook generation with short-attention span. So, no, having sit-down interviews talking about how legendary and classic her songs are is going off on a tangent.

Memories and rants clips (53,845) by Malcolm from Asia
I think it's normal that Mariah is saying something "not nice" or criticizing her music videos because that is the way she remembers it. But on the other side, I also understand why the others are being negative about it because it has a right way to say it or do it. For me, it must have been pleasant and respectable if she is sitting like she is doing interviews (darker room, the light is on her, presentable dress and she is looking at the interviewer not on the camera) because that should legends and icons do and to earn her respect from non-lambs. She must not concentrate on the small stuff only, she must have say things that will left an impact to the people. Her recent interviews are great but why they let that clips to happen, they must have planned it. Mariah isn't young anymore to present herself like that in public, it must be having substance yet entertaining (ex: Madonna, Cher, Beyonce). Sorry MC.
