Album cover / single cover (52,844) by SM from Citizen of the World
I think Mariah's next album or single cover should strictly be a solid color with her name and just the song title on it. Just switch it up completely from what she has done. Infinity photo is really pretty but in order to reach people who are not "lambs" is hard with an infinity butterfl. Just saying imo.

Radio (52,843) by SM from Citizen of the World
I haven't listened to the radio since like 2012. I find it annoying. I could care less if Mariah is played on radio or not. I love her and her music and she made history with 18 #1's. Who cares if she has another number 1? She has 18. I don't think she cares anymore lol.

I adore you too. And I agree with your post. I'm sorry if I've been negative with "Infinity". But I just don't like it. I tell it how it how it is. I want a mature ballad, pop or up tempo song. I really wish Mariah would set her pride aside and let someone write for her a whole entire song for once. Hook up with Sia or Diane Warren. And also finally collaborate with a female artist. I'd be really nervous going to Vegas not knowing what to expect. I hope you and whoever else is going with you a safe trip. Enjoy the show and please give the rest of us the 411 on how she did.

You can expected a full report, darling. Twitter Tuesday is a great way to promote Infinity. So, clearly Infinity is being given the same Clear Channel deal that #Beautiful received. This seems to be the only way for a woman over 40 to have her music played on the radio these days. I will also post any pics and videos that I'm able to take.

#Twitter Tuesday (52,839) by NHYTG from nyc
I see Mariah taking over I Heart Radio's Twitter Tuesday tomorrow. Never heard of that, is it a good way to promote Infinity?

Radio ageism (52,838) by Jono from USA
Infinity isn't the most current song, in the sense that it doesn't follow any pop trends, but it certainly belongs on the radio. What will prevent it from getting played is the same thing that's happening to Madonna - ageism. The idea of playing a song by a 40+ woman is unfathomable to some stations. This might be an unpopular opinion on this board, but I actually respect what Madonna has done, and her most recent song is actually pretty good. But that has not been getting any radio play, and I fear the same fate for Infinity. Instead, the new Britney and Iggy Azalea song will be, because it follows a trend (even though it is quite possibly the worst song I have ever heard, and that's coming from a Britney supporter). I am ok with Mariah not getting radio support if she continues to do what she feels is true to her and her sound. But it goes to show that Mariah may never be able to connect to the current generation unless it's for a throwback reason, and I wouldn't want her to reinvent her sound for the sake of appealing to the younger crowd. Because what I hear on radio nowadays is horrendous, and like the egotistical but brilliant Kanye West said, it's not a place I want to be right now. Artistic integrity over commercial success.

Infinity's iTunes status (52,837) by Ethan from United States
As of now, it's at #109 on the iTunes chart. The lyric video is still gaining hits and momentum. I don't know how radio additions will impact its success. So far, I haven't heard it on the radio yet but today is May 4 so it's out today. I hope Mariah and her team get the music video out before or by May 18 when the album releases.

Is it a single? (52,835) by nikki from usa
Whenever MC releases a single to radio it has an "impact" date. Even Beautiful and You're Mine had impact dates when they would be released to radio. This song had rave reviews before anyone heard it. The track was immediately released for sale and never had any mention of being released to radio. On top of that, we still don't have a music video for a song that's been available for download for a week now. This boils down to 1 of 2 things. 1. This song is just a promotional tool and was never meant for radio, only hype. Or 2, Sony will wait to release the song to radio until her residency kicks off and her music video is done to promote her album release. Mariah is taking over "Twitter Tuesday" @iheartradio tomorrow at 7pm. We'll have to wait and see.

Inquistr (52,832) by B from USA
I wish this site wouldn't publish articles from that site. The single hasn't even been sent to radio. I live in Ohio and have heard it played twice. The writer doesn't even know the facts regarding the official release of Infinity. I would love to know what that site has against Mariah and why? Does anyone know why that site is so anti-Mariah? The Inquistr is a joke. Epic Records says "Infinity" goes for Hot AC and pop adds during the week of May 4 (thus impacting Hot AC on 5/4 and pop on 5/5), but those associated with the record will obviously hope for some early airplay this coming week.

Las Vegas / B (52,831) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
People going to Las Vegas can you please give us detailed (as much as possible) descriptions about the show and the alleged surprises. I saw the completed set for VOL today. I think there is one set with a huge butterfly. Can't be sure but I saw the sketch of a butterfly and on the picture of MC and Michael, I think you can see a little bit of the butterfly. B, I saw the MV clip you are talking about, but turns out it was just a snippet and Mariah herself later said that they had just finished shooting the beginning of the video during her interviews on the night of her Vegas arrival. She mentioned they didn't finish the video yet. Anyways I hope it's done soon. I really love the song and have given it multiple spins everyday. I hope it charts really well. I just listened to Britney's "Pretty Girls" today, horrible. Thank the good Lord for Mariah.

Abraham (52,830) by B from USA
I adore you. I agree that those songs were excellent but those types of songs are not going to be played on the radio today. #Beautiful was the only obvious single on MIAMTEC. Faded might have fared better than YME but we'll never know. I think that Meteorite and YDKWTD had the most potential. But both would have required remixes to even get airplay though.

StrangePilot (52,829) by Abraham from USA
Excellent post my friend. I wish Mariah could see it. I personally think she went back to the good music with "Me I am Mariah". "Beautiful", "Dedicated", "Make it look good" and especially "You don't know what to do" are all classic Mariah at her best. All four songs are great. "Infinity" is just plain awful. I just can't with it. I'm hoping she has better songs coming with her next album. I think she could do a song like "Can't we fall in love again" by Phyllis Hyman. A love song that's mature and classic. Mariah still has an amazing voice. I'm still interested and want to listen to her music. But some of us just want something decent.

Jon and Marcus (52,828) by B from USA
Jon, I think she'll have Trey sing Joe and 98 Degrees' parts. Marcus, streaming and YouTube views now make more of an impact on the charts than sales. iTunes is not the only digital retailer. I bought two copies from iTunes and one from Amazon. The reviews for this single are overwhelming positive. Mariah has the video ready it was played in Vegas. I saw a small clip on YouTube that was removed almost instantly. I'm not saying it's going to debut at #1 or even on the Hot 100 but it's going to make it onto a chart. Maybe the Bubbling Under Chart, if that chart still exist. Charts aren't that important but after watching an excellent single like #Beautiful fail to crack the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 I can't help but hope this single does it. I know I'm going to be called delusional but I'm positively optimistic.

Favourite album (52,827) by Bill from the UK
My most favourite album is Unplugged, because she sounds amazing and I think the acoustic arrangements of the songs were somewhat better than the album versions, particularly Someday and Make It Happen. I'll Be There was a show stopping moment and a real career highlight, as is the entire set. The accompanying video is also a favourite, her performance was just timeless. History in the making. But, if we are asking about "real" albums, then I honestly cannot decide. One day it's the debut, then Emotions, then Butterfly, then Daydream. I find certain albums suit certain periods or moods. I've been listening to all my Daydream singles lately, love all the remixes during that time and the live tracks on the Open Arms single, and of course, Slipping Away. This is why MC is my favourite, I love literally everything she's ever done. Except Boy (I Need You) of course.

In five days I will be in Las Vegas at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace watching Mariah Carey preform her 18 #1's and Infinity. The excitement is overwhelming. To Infinity.

TGIFY (52,825) by Jon from Netherlands
I wonder what she is going to do with this song at Vegas. Together with IDWC and "Someday" it's the only songs she hasn't performed in a long time.

B / being realistic about the charts (52,824) by Marcus from Brazil
B, don't get your hopes too high about the charts. "Infinity" didn't make any big impact on iTunes and it is now out of the top 100. Without sales there's no chance. We've been there before with the "it hasn't been served to radio yet" comments, the most important radio stations have the song, and if it had been that popular, others would've followed. Radio stations have even made hits out of leaked tracks picked from the Internet. Let's be realistic, you might think "Infinity" is the best song in the world, but according to the numbers "Infinity" is not going to happen. Like some fan stated, when you only have one song to entice people to buy an album full of past hits, you need to attack from all directions. Once again there's no video ready, and I don't think it would make any difference now. I'm not being negative, I'm being realistic. I like "Infinity", but there's no chance this is going to crack Billboard Hot 100. Rihanna's "Bitch Better Have My Money" topped the iTunes songs for a week, it still debuted at #23 on Billboard Hot 100, it moved up a little with airplay, but then again it's going downhill.

Favorite album (52,822) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
Emotions I always felt never has had fair shot, it's a great body of work. I wish the promotion for it at the time had been just as dedicated as her debut. I believe all the force was put on the song "Emotions". Think about it, two videos. Once they had the winning pony they rode it to death. Why is it my favorite? I think it was very forward thinking at the time, it moved away from the jackswing used allot in the debut and dabbled in many styles. "You're So Cold" has a good dance beat but the vocals are so amazing. "Till The End Of Time" was a ballad, yes again great vocals and the drum riff I guess you call it at around mark 4:25 was great way to wind down the song. "The Wind" was very delegate but powerful, she goes from mid-air to full chest voice. Aw hell it's just a pretty song and the fact she added lyrics to an already made musical piece that fit.

To Infinity (52,821) by B from USA
MIAMTEC and her accompanying tour showed us that Mariah was learning to use, and love, the changing textures of her voice. She is continuing that trend with Infinity. The chorus which one critic said sounded strained shows us that she is finally comfortable with the current state of her voice. Her voice is still the best voice in the game. I can't wait to see this week charts because I have a feeling that Infinity will impact the charts before its official serviced to radio from downloads, streams, and YouTube views.

RJJ (52,820) by Licia from USA
I never knew people thought Faded was a Memoirs leftover. Except for a few songs Memoirs is not an album high on my list so I never would have caught any similarities. Faded is just deep for me. You can hear her hurt. IMO Faded is the realest song on Me I Am Mariah. I'm actually proud of Mike Will and yes I would love to see them work together again. Just to see if they can top Faded.

Mariah (52,819) by B from USA
You're Mine (Eternal) peaked/debuted at #12 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs and at #14 on the Hot R&B Songs chart. It was a modest hit. I love it. I love Infinity. I however hated Triumphant, MOAIA, and Glitter (not the ballads). I think this single is a hit. I think that like Touch My Body this single is a fun catchy single that makes her relevant by not taking herself or her lyrics to seriously.

Become a better artist (52,818) by StrangePilot from USA
Personally, I hate top 40 music. Hate it. I stick with Mariah because I feel she makes interesting choices with her vocals. However, I really dislike all of her music in the past few years. Not because it's bad, because it's the same type of music she's been making for the past 15 years. My advice for the Mariah team is this. #1 Don't have an album cover with Mariah's face or body. Not that she doesn't look good or is not pretty, but like Oprah, seeing yourself on every cover is boring. She should have an artist draw something cool. #2 After the Vegas stint, quit the nostalgia. No more about when I was younger, how hard life was, and stop doing your old songs, especially your 18 #1's. Yes it's an amazing accomplishment, but time to move on. #3 Stop working with the same producers. Not that they suck, but it's time to experiment and try new independent producers that can create a new sound for Mariah. #4 And this is probably most import. Make an album that features your current voice. Maria's tone is so beautiful, that she doesn't have to hit the high notes in her regular voice. Sure, still hit those falsetto notes, but in her regular voice, hit the notes that you can only sing live. So in fact, you can sing them live. #5 Clothes, and this is a big one too. Dress sexy, but not slutty. You can get a new stylist. It's time. And it's time for Mariah to make better music. Stop with the same old sound. I'm a huge fan, but it's just time for her to try something new.

Licia (52,817) by 123 from USA
I agree completely. Faded is my favorite song on the album. I know people have criticized it as sounding like a Memoir leftover or for having a simplistic beat, but the song is simply magical. Mike Will really killed it with such a simple, yet delicate beat for Mariah to wrap her voice around. Couldn't be a Memoir leftover with such a beautiful vocal performance. Mariah really snaps on those vocals, layering upon layering done right. The vocal crescendo in the end is the best one in an album full of unique, boombastic crescendos. I would have loved a live performance of this song, its too good to let it fade. I hope she works with Mike Will Made It again, another song with them together needs to happen.
