MOAIA remixes (45,099) by Bill from the UK Don't forget you all that these were held back from the Angels Advocate album from 2010. They didn't draft in R Kelly and Mary especially for the deluxe version of MIAM, these remixes were from years ago. I still don't get it myself. They make the deluxe version slightly disjointed. Seriously I think Mariah hides behind the "diva" image that mostly everyone has grown to hate so much nowadays. I think it may be a defense mechanism to protect the real "vulnerable Mariah" from the scrutiny of the world. Almost like "I'm playing a character, so if people hate or criticize this character, it doesn't really bother me because its not really who I am". I imagine its a world of pressure having the career that she's had especially with all ups, downs, and expectations. So escapism can be way of copping. Just my theory. Even though she was playful is this video, you get a little insight to the pressure she's always been under to act a certain way. (Wednesday 25 June 2014; 3:21)

Photoshop (45,095) by Gilbert from USA Hey peeps, so I was reminiscing back through some photo galleries of Mariah and man how times change and how I seen her grow throughout the years. Then I stopped and wondered well I'm going to make a post and see what fellow fans think. I'm going to take a hunch and say I think she started with Photoshop back in 2000. Her photos before all the Photoshop are real beauty. I don't see why she needs all that extra glamor. A touch up yes, anyone of us here if we were famous would want that. Why are there no lyrics in the CD insert, Wel (45,093) by Carlos Jaramillo from USA Think about it, if the words were in there, you would simply read over them while you hear the album, understand them and move on to your next venture. Mimi is making us "research" her lyrics and, in its transgression, we end up researching a lot more information related to her project. Reading up more on her craft and projects. Now, for instance, there is the "Mariah Network" which does detail all the lyrics of the song along with additionally contributing information. Everything is a gimmick now, weather we are keen enough to understand the undercurrent or not, it's there. (Tuesday 24 June 2014; 21:21)

Hasn't te-sung vocals since WBT? (to Carlos) (45,092) by TR from USA Uhm. She re-sang the vocals for the HATEU remix, two of the #Beautiful remixes, and at least one of the Triumphant remixes. Also, she is constantly resinging vocals for AIWFCIY. She pretty much re-releases a new version of that song every year. I'm actually surprised she didn't issue the Jimmy Fallon version to radio lol. I think the copying/pasting thing with BGK and IAW (and Angels Cry for that matter) is probably because of busy schedules, where one or both of them aren't in the same spot long enough to really get it done. Weak excuse, I know, but I honestly don't feel it's because the landscape of radio nowadays won't help. So what if it sounds like a different song, that's what makes it a great remix. ISB had some of the best remixes of her entire career. She did at least five versions all resung and none of them sounded alike. Same with My All and Make It Last, and folks still go crazy over them. I feel like she always picks and chooses which remixes are resung because then it's not overdone to the point where she's always issuing two or three different versions. But thing is in this case Mariah could have re-sung the entire song and change it as much as she wants because BGK and IAW remixes were not to promote the original tracks as singles, but rather these were bonus tracks on a completely new album 5 years after the original. So basically it wasn't added to support any singles, these are basically going to be considered album cuts for Chanteuse. Could I explain myself? I don't think they are even labelled as "remixes" on the tracklist for Chanteuse. They are listed as normal songs with featured artists. Secondly she still does change up songs somewhat, if not completely, like the #Beautiful Jeezy remix where she re-sung vocals and there was another re-sung remix which wasn't released after they abandoned #Beautiful. Oh and I don't know if you know this already but there are about 2-3 completely different re-sung remixes for Say Somethin' (one with Dem Franchize Boys and the other without any guests), then there is the DFAU re-sung remix, and the H.A.T.E.U completely re-sung remix. You should definitely check those out, although you might already know about these, but just in case you didn't. (Tuesday 24 June 2014; 19:03)

Bonus tracks - "re"-mix the song (45,087) by CMC from NY,NY Most of us do know the rules now about the resinging of a track and the remix if changed not tracking on the chart as the same single. That's is why this particular situation is so frustrating. Betcha G'on Know and It's A Wrap could have been just that, completly remixed tracks and all new vocals being that they were MOAIA cuts and obviously she would not be releasing these as singles for MIAM. Now that yes would have been a bonus for the fans. Instead it comes of as just lazily slapping them on to the end of the album when ideally this was the perfect chance to give us an oldschool redone version of the originals. Oh and she actually did completly remix and resing the H.A.T.E.U. single. And "Say Something". WBT wasn't Mariah's last resung effort. (Tuesday 24 June 2014; 19:03)

No "re-sung vocal" explanation (45,086) by Carlos Jaramillo from USA Hey guys. A lot of people have been talking about how much it sucks that she no longer re-sings any of her vocals when "she" drops any remixes. Hey, I'm 35 year old so, I'm from the days when Mariah would re-sing a song 4 or 5 times and put it on "side b" of the cassette tapes. Glorious were those days (Dreamlove is an awesome remix). What's happening now is that the music industry changed the rules. As of 2005, if you change up the song too much, its melody beyond a certain point, its then considered a whole "other/new song" and won't assist in ranking in the artists desired chart numbers. That's why, pretty much the last re-sung vocal remix that we got was from MC was We Belong Together. It has nothing to do with her really, though I'm sure she takes advantage of that situation to not have to overuse her voice but, yeah that's why it's done that way now. Think of other artists also, the re-sung vocal remix era has collapsed. If it's not for the club remixes that are structured by the awesome DJ's out there, we'd get nothing but the album cuts. Mariah is not going to waste her time and voice singing something that isn't going to net a profit for her, unless it's personal and we're not gonna hear it anyway. Lol. Apart from the 2 Australian radio interviews? Seriously why even bother with a single when it's not put to proper use? This is the last chance to save the album, if it's even possible at this stage. But yet again, no news. What happened to the video? Why is there no talk of it? And it's becoming almost a month since the album dropped, where on earth are the proper lyrics that was supposed to be released in a special way? Ugh Mariah why. (Tuesday 24 June 2014; 17:16)

Re: Mariah's attitude problem (45,084) by jaker20 from US Mariah's image is definitely at its lowest point right now. Like someone here said, the voice is still there, the talent and music is still there. But the general public can't stand her. Her antics are grating. Her interviews are painful to watch. Her sensuality is past her prime. Her album/single covers are embarrassing. Where has the professional artist gone? I am a hardcore fan, and I care, otherwise, I won't even say these things. I will just let her sink and let it be. But if I think this, you can only imagine what others think of her. Sure, she's entitled to be herself. But as an artist, the general public should know her first and foremost as an artist. As a pro. As a true artist. Not as a Kardashian, unless that's the career she wants now. During the TEOM era, she was poised, composed, respectful, very professional and powerful looking. Someone you actually look up to. The last 5 years or so (dare I say after she got married to Bobby Brown, I mean Nick Cannon) she's turn into a lady/child, immature, unprofessional and talks over interviewers, lazy creativity, videos in bikinis and swimsuits, lipping constantly. Real versus rude (bad mouthing/shade) (45,082) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia Well first allow me to clarify that when I mentioned Mariah being "real", I wasn't referring to her making shady remarks about people. I was actually referring to her not giving "fake" answers in interviews. For example: when Barbara Walters asked her if she "trusted Nick", and she said "sometimes". I know some people felt that she threw him under the bus, but I felt like it was a "real, straight forward, non beating around the bush" answer and you can't really be mad at that. She later went on to clarify in the interview with Gale King, that "it's a real marriage, she gets on his nerves and he gets on her nerves, but that doesn't mean they're gonna get a divorce in 4 months". I thought that was a great answer and an example of not being overly "PC (politically correct). Also I don't think she should pretend to be a fan of everyone's music, not meaning she should shade them, but I like knowing the past or current artists she truly admires (Beyonce, Prince, Rihanna, Jazmine Sullivan, Aretha etc. in no particular order). I do think she should be more encouraging and positive towards artists that she may not necessarily care for though (even if she feels that they are capitalizing off her style). One time I did actually get angry at Mariah was when she indirectly shaded Leona Lewis, because she is a sweetheart. I didn't feel that she shaded Ariana Grande though, she actually said something good that went unnoticed when she said "If this is what anybody wants to do I wish them the best and longevity", but that's all she should've said, because the comments before that did come off the wrong way. So over all she should embrace the Christina's, Leona's, and Ariana's of the world a little more. That's my critique on her personality flaw. (Tuesday 24 June 2014; 14:00)

Mariah's attitude problem (J.Lo-free version) (45,081) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines We all know Mariah's just as good a person as all of us here, and like us, has some flaws as well. Normally I'd think it'd be unfair to nitpick her faults because she can't do the same to us, but I'm with all the rants about her diva-tude on this board because it has reached a point where she's already tarnishing her legacy as a person. I'm sure she's carved her place in history for her talent, but she's more than just a singer. Truth be told, there's a difference between being "real" and acting like a stuck-up bitch with serious issues. She has this bad habit of publicly badmouthing or at the very least, shading people she dislikes or who have crossed her to some extent. Except a few instances when it was reasonable, most of the time not even her having insecurities is enough reason to justify her passive-aggressive tendencies. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Mimi shade as long as it's valid and rare, but recently it's been even embarrassing at times for us fans when she plays ice queen or makes a snide remark or talks about herself incessantly on mundane matters irrelevant to what's asked of her. I'm sorry, but maybe unless you're Madonna who's been ruthless from the start but can still sell at least 2M of her releases worldwide, not even career longevity or prodigious talent can warrant you such entitled behavior, especially if you worked your way to the top with such humility. I hope she realizes this soon, as I feel some of the damage to her image is now irreparable. (Tuesday 24 June 2014; 12:06)

Yuan / The Truth (45,080) by Bill from the UK Yuan, I think The Truth is probably right on this one. Although Mariah's debut happened in 1990, she was actually signed in the late 80s and spent most of 1988/89 working on the album. Tommy was still married at that point but it's pretty obvious Mariah's arrival on the scene ended his marriage. His memoirs even indicate how obsessed he was with her at the beginning, and I remember Brenda K saying that there was a "definite chemistry" between them at the infamous demo tape party. I've been effusive of my obsession with MILG, so now… (45,079) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines I think Faded is one of the best tracks on the album. I really feel like it was originally titled "Echo" until Mariah realized "faded" was mentioned more times in the song. It borders on overproduction, which is probably a good thing because it's what makes it sound lush. By feel, it's the most opulent-sounding joint on the record. I love how the keyboard notes are simply repeated throughout the song, with bass added in only during the choruses - it almost seems as if the whole track was built around them. Plus they function as the cut's best hook, since no particular part of the song (not even the chorus) really stands out on its own. Like YM(E), it has an background atmospheric, but not as airy or dated. Even though there's quite a lot going on particularly towards the ending, there's a certain rawness to Mariah's delivery that breaks through and emphasizes the heartbreak that drives the song. The diary-writing intro adds a nice touch. Overall, it's just a really pretty song that's quite special, because as it would fit nicely in MOAIA, it also has a somber vibe and vocal performance that to me, wouldn't make it sound out of place on Butterfly, if only the production was less modern. And although I'm generally not a fan of producers leaving their audio signatures in the tracks they create, I barely mind MikeWillMadeIt's stamp here - that's how good the song is to me. I think we had a great debate, and saw where each other were coming from on some things (well at least I did ). I'm glad we both stood our ground and was peacefully able to agree to disagree. qhm (45,075) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I am with you on the remixes being horrible copy paste jobs. She gets two great vocalists in the studio and doesn't make a new song or re-record the old one. Mary J Blige sounds great but I don't understand the point of her being in the song. Like it's a song about Mariah being sassy and telling off her boyfriend, and while she's at it, threatening to crack his forehead. So why exactly is Mary in it? They should have just made a women power song or just give Mary a new verse. I also don't like the BGK remix. I am glad you liked it, but I can't help but cringe everytime Kelly goes "the whole plan was just to chill" and "she mixed something in my drink". Then there is the thing that they are clearly talking about two very different nights (MC talking about how he cheated in her house and Kelly talking about how he got "date raped" at another girl's house). So either they got lazy with the lyrics and messed it up or our boy cheated 2 different times and was confused about which one M is pissed about. Regardless, Kelly seems to think it is a legit proof that he isn't a cheater because he didn't mean to get nasty, he just went to get some shots with a girl at her house while he has a girlfriend. And also the part where MC sings "fading away" and Kelly goes "don't fade, don't fade". Ugh. (Tuesday 24 June 2014; 4:02)
