Make It Look Good makes me feel good (44,386)

I'm so glad a lot of you are loving Make It Look Good as well. In terms of the most successful attempts of Mimi on recreating an old school sound, this is right up there with Forever as her best. Actually, like I've said before, she rarely does doo-wop but whenever she does, she never fails to impress (Never Forget You, Forever, It's A Wrap). Does anybody else feel like this song is the groovier sister of Janet's I Want You (which is also exceptional)? That breeziness, those harmonies, Stevie's harmonica, that overall sexy summer vibe - we haven't even gotten to the her vocals yet and it already sounds like a winner. This is definitely the most effortless, sexiest sounding song on the album, and at least to me, since the slow jams in Charmbracelet or even Butterfly. If I seem to be overpraising it, it's because it never fails to make me smile and all giddy every time I hear it. Whether the future singles from this album perform well or not, since the history of that for this era has already been messy anyway, I'd like her to just release this one just for the sake of doing so, I mean maybe for a fall or winter release, since You Don't Know What To Do will be filling in for the summer. We'll never know, it might take off and may very well be her next huge hit. Let's go against the grain and see where it takes us. #Beautiful didn't sound like anything on the radio last year, not even Miguel's own singles, but look at how that turned out.

I thought the NBC special with Matt Layer was excellent. She was articulate, funny, and straightforward. Her performances were excellent as well. This special was a step in the right direction. She needs to perform the next single on Fallon and Ellen, as soon as possible. This album is one of her best. It's been well received by critics and fans alike. It just needs the right promotion. She needs some well executed videos directed by talented directors like Paul Hunter and Brett Ratner. She sang Heavenly, Money, You Don't Know What To Do, We Belong Together. Also the video to You're Mine was played and the YDKWTD performance was from the Concert on the Plaza.

Album lyrics? (44,384)
by Nina from USA

The one negative thing I will say is that I'm really confused and disappointed that for the first time there are no lyrics with a Mariah CD. Does anyone know why that is and how we can get them? I need to know everything she's singing.

I'm really tired of people coming here to bash her. Yes, she is a self proclaimed imperfect angel, meaning she's not perfect, just like everyone else. Leave her alone and stop picking apart everything she says and does. I've been a fan since VOL and even bought the album before "Love Takes Time" was even included in the track listing. I so connect with her lyrics and she has brought so much joy into my life, so I accept her unconditionally and am so grateful for her gift of music. So haters need to just shut it.

NBC Special was great and I've got nothing but love for Mimi (44,382)

I was really hoping she'd sing "Cry" which I really believe could be her next #1. I'm not gonna lie, I want another #1 for her so badly. She deserves it. There is so much crappy music out there right now hitting #1. I get angry when people compare Ariana Grande to Mariah. In my opinion, there is no similarity. Ariana doesn't have that buttery sound and her high notes sound more like screaming than singing. Not to mention, she is not a songwriter. Yeah, Mariah was mainly lip-synching throughout the special, but I really don't care. The new album is amazing and I can't get enough of it.

Last night's prime time special with Mariah was everything. She nailed it and if the special pulls in the ratings then this will definitely help the album. Great job Mariah, you've made your lambs and fans very proud once again.

Hi everyone. First time ever to post here although I've been lurking and reading for quite a while now. Here's a link to the full NBC Special. The smarts, the talent and the elegance of this woman never fails to amaze me. So much to love and appreciate in this special.

NBC Special (44,378)

I loved that special - the interview segments were among the smartest and the most directly answered in years. She showed so much knowledge about music and just plain maturity. So surprised (pleasantly) that she performed Heavenly, and actually performed the way we would want to hear - her voice was on point. She didn't seem to be lipping or dubbed too much and even so, it was not the version on the CD at all, so she at least re-sang it. This in conjunction with WMA would have been great. I tried to look at it not as a lamb and I think the key thing was how she carried herself in the interview parts. Well done.

One wish (44,376)

All I know is that I will be madly happy if Mariah can release at least 2 of the following songs as singles: Faded, Dedicated and/or Money ($*/...). These are by far her strongest contenders for song of the summer and just all around great feelgood throwback records. Maybe do a dual release of 2 of those songs. After that it would be great if she showed off her pipes and released something strong like Make It Look Good or Camouflage but shake the scene up with a stellar dance mix to one of those songs. The album is full of classic, intricate, and intoxicating songs its only a matter of time that word of mouth will catch on. This album really is her best work since The Emancipation Of Mimi.

MIAMTEC on the charts (44,375)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
MIAMTEC is one of Mariah's best albums, but things are not looking good sales wise. When TEOM ran its course, everybody was anticipating anything Mariah because she had left in a high note, so even if E=MC2 had taken five years, it would've still sold as it did. The problem now is not the product, the problem is how MOAIA performed, her absence, delays, her diva attitude as if she were in her prime, and how the game has changed. Billboard rules have changed with streaming being tabulated with airplay and sales. Mariah's name doesn't sell on its own anymore. At this point I think the sales projection for this album's first week is based on what's left of us fans. Her team needs to pick a single ASAP, shoot a concept video, and she needs to promote it in every TV show as if she were a newbie. That type of work would put her back in the game. Those who have retired from the music scene for many years usually suffer from the attention spam of this new generation. What's hot today, it is not tomorrow. I'm hoping for the best, MIAMTEC definitely deserves to be heard.

She seemed so sad on the NBC special (44,374)
by Michele from USA
| |
|
|
I just finished watching it, and it was alright. After every single performance, it went to a commercial, so I think the special was only 20 minutes long when all is said and done, lol. The last part of the interview really struck me, when she was telling Matt Lauer how she is vulnerable. He asked her about the tabloid rumors between her and Nick, and she said, "Ahhh. I don't read tabloids anymore. You read them one day, and the next day, someone is using them to wrap fish in. A great writer once told me that." Funny thing is, she said those exact same words in the 1995 VH1 One To One Interview, during the Daydream era, but I thought she credited Tommy for saying that. All in all, and I hope I don't get flack for this, is that I see a lot of similarities between how she was then in that era (with her marriage) and how she is now, in this era.

This was everything I wanted and more. So good to see her on TV again, since the last time she was on that terrible reality show. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but there was a great balance of interview moments and performances. If Mariah's aim is to get people interested in the album, she really nailed it with this special. Here's hoping this, along with the new single, will continue to keep this album in people's minds.

Gave Tommy Mottola credit (44,372)
by Chicago Lamb from USA

|

When Matt Lauer ask Mariah if the tabloids get to her she said, "One day it's in the paper, the next day they're wrapping fish with it. A brilliant writer once said that to me." It was actually Tommy Mottola who said it to Mariah to help her deal with sour reviews in the beginning of her career. That was a nice tidbit for her to reference from the early days.

I so hope you are right because this album is so good and deserves to have many hits singles. I am worried though. Mariah isn't even in the Billboard social 50. Even JLo is rising on this chart and getting radio airplay. Am I wrong in thinking Mariah's image is in the gutter so much people have moved on to newer generation similarities; Ariana? I do think of the "what ifs" right now. "Money" would have been a great lead single instead of YME, etc. I am still just scratching my head at how 6 years ago E=MC debuted at 463K and now Mariah can't sell 100K in her first week sales. Most fans seem to be annoyed that Mariah's singles are aiming toward hip-hop collaborations and less solo. I really hope YDKWTD non-rap is the single mix but yet the album version has the rap. So many trials and errors in this era. Thank goodness for the masterpiece that is Me I Am Mariah.

I'm so glad multiple sources are saying that YDKWTD is the next single. I feel like Thirsty would get lost in a sea of other hip hop songs. YDKWTD feels very unique and fresh to me. Pop has always been her sweet spot so I think this has great potential, but for goodness sake she needs to promote the hell out of it. Music doesn't sell itself for her anymore.

Official albums charts of New Zealand and Australia are in, since Me I Am Mariah was released on the 22nd of May and it didn't do too well #11 in NZ. Better in Australia, #5. This album is a gem, once it gets out there more I am sure more people will start buying it. Lets hope a single comes now.

That would really be awesome. This album has so many great songs and since Mariah kept saying that it reflects her journey over the last few years and that she sequenced the songs so that they form a story, it would be really nice to have her do videos for each song. One video can lead to another. Whatever video she releases next I hope it has a good concept and she doesn't end up just staring at the camera and touching herself. She should look back at great videos like Honey, Heartbreaker, Breakdown, all the videos from TEOM and take note.
