I really hope you're right boo. Because I can't really see her being that confortable lipping on that level in front of a live audience like that. Who knows, but I wouldn't go as far so to say all of her live belts are all fake or prerecorded. Yes we know many of them have been, but we've also heard many undeniable ones from her recently as well. I just chalk it up as one of her "off" days. Hopefully she breaks out of this.

The legend (43,804) by meka from usA
I wrote a post Thursday and can not find it anywhere. In short I was saying how I am tired of all these [...] lambs complaining about when Mariah does a type of music they do not necessarily like. I love it all. Rock Mariah, Pop Mariah, R&B Mariah, 80"s Mariah, Disco Mariah, Jazz Mariah, Soul Mariah, sing any diva under the table Mariah. The point is we all may have different musical tastes and that's fine but just because something is not your type of music does not automatically mean it is horrible. I agree Triumphant was not the best, but the different remixes made me appreciate it more. For me it's all about the musicality of it. Some people from what I am reading just like to complain about every and anything which is getting ridiculous. Oh and BTW the Today show was 97% live with a few lipped part here and there. Mariah gives herself away with her facial expressions. You can tell she was singing or wait do you guys think she lipped "I forgot the words to my own song"? Lol. As a student of music and a rare lamb that has actually sung live with MC, leave the woman alone, she is as close to perfection that ever existed. Pow.

You Don't Know What To Do (43,803) by PJW from The U.K.
The song just debuted on radio and it's fantastic. The bass is sexy, production sleek and smooth and her vocals are gorgeous. And she scats too, albeit only a tiny bit. Wale sounds good on the rap, though his talking over the intro (just like on the live performance) is odd and out of place. Hearing the studio version it shows how good the vocal arrangement at the Today show was. The backing singers really added oomph to it which would have been nice on the studio version but it's really not necessary, it sounds great anyway. I actually think this is gonna be one of my favourite Mariah songs.

Supernatural (43,802) by Darryle from USA
I think they took the snippet of this down. I went looking for it to listen but it's not up there.

Mariah's singing accent (43,801) by PJW from The U.K.
I noticed her doing this live way back maybe most so when singing "got to be real" with Patti La Belle but it really got to me on both live and recorded versions of "If you should ever be lonely". I've never liked that track for that reason alone. I think she's still capable of the "Mariah voice", but doesn't use it for a few reasons, one of them being years of critics saying she had no emotion in her voice, another that it's a very pretty, girly voice and that perhaps doesn't fit with a few of her mental constructs on image or sit well with memories of her earlier career. There might be reasons to do with the ease of using this current accent voice, but I've no real idea about that so it's just a guess.

Elusive in the UK (43,800) by Antonio from Spain
Hey lambily. Does someone know if Elusive is gonna be released in the UK in physical format? Because there is no promotion on the HMV stores and in Wikipedia it says "UK - Digital download". I am pretty scared because I want to get me a physical copy. Thank you.

The voice (43,799) by Danny Braden from Uk
It must be hard for Mariah to struggle maintaining an impossible image and skill. She has been one of the worlds greatest singers for 20 or so years even now she is still respected for that so the constant pressure and criticism from fans, labels and the general public must be disheartening but she keeps on doing it and bringing us new music and creativity I think as Mariah gets older unless she finds peace within her self is going to find it difficult.

Lamb O Chop (43,798) by Randy from USA
While I do believe she lipsyncs more than the lambily would like to realize, I'm having a hard time believing this video isn't doctored. If it is in fact true, it is what we've feared for some time now. None of her live high belts are her singing on stage and it calls into question every live performance after Divas Live 1998. I hope this video is not authentic.

Re: Lee Uk (43,797) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
Hunny all I can say is I guess she wasn't feeling it that day. I agree though, I know she lips parts here and there, but I don't want to see her out there blatantly doing it like that. Hell she could've sung it in a lower key, hummed, or whistled it for all I care. Oh well she still have her "on" days when she can still give us a nice hardy robust belt so I won't (cry) about it too much about it. I just need her to really pull this voice together before she hits the the stage again to promote this album. Because chile. lol That's still my number one chick though.

Mariah's singing accent (43,794) by Lee from UK
I have recently been listening to a lot of Mariah's live performances from over the years and I have come to the conclusion that the reason I don't like Mariah's live voice these days is because of her vowel sounds. She has changed the way she pronounces some of her vowels; especially the ones on which she sustains a note. They way she sings them makes her sound nasally. It's hard to explain but her vowel sounds used to sound more rounded and smooth. Now they are a bit squeaky and scratchy at the same time. I don't know if anyone else has noticed or if it's just me but Mariah seems to have let her accent become more apparent in her singing voice since TEOM. Most singers don't appear to have an accent when they sing (unless of course you look at country singers) and Mariah never really used to have an accent in her singing voice either. To small humble me from England, she used to just have a generic American sounding singing accent that most English speaking singers tend to have (even most British singers). Now, however, there is definitely a different accent that can be heard on the vowels and they are not pleasant to the ear.

Thank you for posting that video. Can you imagine being in the audience and witnessing that happen? We all know Mariah lips most of the belting notes at the end of songs but to witness it in such a fashion is truly disappointing. I haven't mentioned anything about Mariah's Today Show performance because I wasn't expecting it to be good. After years of sub par live performance I come to expect shoddy vocals. But I would rather hear bad vocals sung live than good vocals pre-recorded.

Thirsty or You Don't Know What To Do (43,792) by B from USA
I prefer Thirsty over YDKWTD. I think Thirsty has the potential to be a big hit with the right video. It's catchy. I like both versions. YDKWTD has potential as well. After a few false starts this era is, at least musically, taking off. She needs a video like Touch My Body for Thirsty. A video that pokes fun at the publics perception of her.

Mariah's dress (43,791) by Will from England
Mariah's dress that she wore for her Today Show performance really reminded me on her GMA performance for TEOM, you know, the golden-ish shimmering ball gown etc. It looked great and she sounded great IMO. Were parts of the performances lipped? Maybe. But out of all her performances thus far, she sounded great that day.

Supernatural (43,790) by Isabelle from USA
I'm already becoming obsessed with Supernatural. I keep replaying the snippet over and over. It has a sugary-pop fantasy-esque beat, I though it was going to be a piano-driven ballad or a ballad-lullaby like "Blue", but it isn't.

No new single post by Isabelle (43,788) by Chicago Lamb from USA
You are 0% correct. Thank you for clarifying this for the lambs. The theme here is pre-order the whole album if you want what you've liked so far. After all, Mimi did say the album has to be heard as a "whole".

May 23rd or May 27th? (43,785) by Will from Australia
I'm confused, my iTunes pre order says expected May 23rd but some articles that Mariah has tweeted say May 27th. Does anyone know what it actually is?

Pre-order new album (43,784) by OGmattyICE from US
I'm not sure if it's been brought to ya'lls attention yet, but on iTunes USA you can pre-order Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse with both clean and explicit lyrics on both the standard and deluxe versions. That's 4 total pre-orders. Simply go to the "albums" section of Mariah Carey on iTunes, scroll down, and you will find them. I hope this helps. Spread the word.

Don't be patetic (43,783) by Anonymous from
When Mariah does something good I praise her and talk about it, when she does something bad (in my opnion) I will talk about it too. But really, some people are patetic. I read some comments on her Today performance and I need a rest, some of you claim for perfection. Mariah doesn't need to hit every single note in a perfect range or how she used to do it in her early years before so much concerts, albums, interviews, etc etc. She is not a machine. I think she did a really good job, she sounded out of key in some parts in "Always be my baby" but in general was good. And why if she sang along a playback in some parts of her new song. Everybody does that. I'm sure that if she sounded perfect in every song, every note then some of you would say: it's lipsynching. Really those kind of comments stress me.

Mariah, the Today performance (43,782) by Anonymous from
I watched the performance on the Today show and it made me feel happy. She was really good, having a good time. I liked the 3 songs. I have to say that "You donīt know what to do" is a really good song, very fresh and catchy. I wonder why that song wasn't the last single instead "You're mine lol" whatever. The only thing that I didn't like is that Mariah still doesn't know how to move along all the stage. I hate when she stands in only one place but in general I enjoyed the show.

Thirsty (43,781) by Darryle from USA
Mariah instagramed a short video of the album and single covers with Thirsty as background music. Seeing this now I'm confused on whether or not she's dropping it. Normally when she drops something she just doesn't acknowledge it. So maybe it will be a single and she just didn't perform it at the summer concert.
