How about actually performing the music to promote it? (41,486) by Lee from UK I don't understand why Mariah isn't performing You're Mine on her TV appearances. Talking about a song and acting aloof during interviews is not the type of publicity this song needs. This song needs to be heard (preferably a number of times) in order to be enjoyed. In all honesty, I used to look forward to Mariah being interviewed as she always gave us funny moments like when she would visit Rosie O'Donnell. With the way she has presented herself so far this era, I would rather her just turn up, sing and go home. Remember when it was all about the music as opposed to "Does my hair look good over my shoulder, no sitting on my shoulder, no I'll flip it behind. No good, sitting on the shoulder, over the shoulder, let me flip it again." Just leave your bloody hair alone and sing the damn song. Thoughts (41,485) by clueey23 from USA Has anyone ever watched JD, MC and Stephan Hill in the studio during the recording of "E=MC2"? That is the real MC. When she talks about pink road cases. It's not that MC doesn't know how to act, it's that people take everything so serious. It's just not that serious, the word "dahling" isn't a bad word. It's just a nod to old Hollywood and glamour. And once you stop taking everything she says or does so serious, you'll begin to enjoy MC again. I personally think MC is more down to earth than a lot of other entertainers. I've enjoyed the interviews thus far. And I haven't cringed once or thought twice because she seems more real and honest and down to earth than ever before. It's refreshing. She's had artist of the decade and millennium. WBT is #11 on biggest hits of all time. longest run on Billboard with OSD and so much more. The reason why WBT topped the Billboard Hot 100 Singles for 14 weeks was because Mariah diligently performed that song on almost every major tv program in the US back in the day. It's a wasted opportunity to see Mariah made a small cameo at the Tonight Show with Jimmy without performing her latest single. She could even perform the single at MTV First with Sway and at the Bet 106&Park. The public (non-fans) and her old time fans need to be mesmerized (again) by her god given voice. Just an opinion from a fan (41,469) by Andrew from Australia MC is a legend and nobody is going to take that away from her but I was squirming with embarrassment watching the Breakfast Club interview. MC has been in the business for decades and I think the world fully understands who she is as a person. I don't think it is necessary to try to be "eternally youthful" and be funny whenever you are in public. I watch some interviews from other artists like Rihanna and even Miley Cyrus (in response to her twerking saga). These girls actually sat down and gave a proper interview, without throwing words such as "darling", "diva", "honey". It is true that she is "the Mariah Carey" and she has nothing to prove to anybody but there's nothing wrong trying to be serious without the champagne, sunglasses, chocolates, etc. (Wednesday 19 February 2014; 6:21)

Patti Labelle, Aretha, Diana, etc wrote a song specifically for her to sing. She holds herself, and other singer/songwriters in a whole other realm than people like Britney Spears and Rihanna, they barely have a voice to mention, yet they gave hits over and over again. These songs are specifically written to be hits, and apply to the masses. I will say I'm glad Mariah hasn't stooped to that level. If she sang a generic, lifeless song like "Rude boy" just to have a hit, I think I'd boycott her. (Wednesday 19 February 2014; 6:09)

And I always wondered what she thinks of herself when she does see it. Have you ever seen yourself on video and thought, "wow that was dumb"?Or "why did I do that" or "I could've done better". I know a lot of celebrities avoid digging to deep in their own media to avoid seeing any hateful comments from critics such as ourselves. So what do you guys think? She keeps emphasizing the word “Journey” whenever she speaks about the album. Maybe she is contemplating Journey as a possible title or something like it. Did it not just get released to radio today? All the reasons everyone is posting are all reasons that were given before by the media. She’s a diva, she isn’t relatable, her music doesn’t match the current format, her voice isn’t the same, she’s too old, how she dresses, and the rest of the reasons you all gave. Once Glitter happened, this is what was said. Then she took a long time away, longer then any other time in between albums and TEOM was released. It also was pushed back. Mariah said Almost Home was a separate project from the album so that doesn’t count. Triumphant was the learning experience. She released a lazy, uninspired lead single and the results showed that people weren’t having it. So she backed up and re-worked it. When has she ever charted high on iTunes? Until Beautiful, I hadn’t seen her chart that well there, so why should we care now? She is working the radio circuit which is what she needs to do to gain radio support. She is humble enough to know that without radio support, the song goes nowhere. She is playing the game and creating a relationship with these stations by either calling in or showing up for an interview to promote her record and hopefully convince the station to play her song. You scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours. Besides, Beautiful didn’t start moving on iTunes until she started performing the song anyway. (Wednesday 19 February 2014; 3:40)

Joyce / Marilyn Monroe image (41,463) by Edward from USA Joyce, I couldn't agree with you more, her Marilyn Monroe impersonation is getting tired. The "splashes", "the dahling's" need to go away. It is like when Madonna tried to put up an English accent she never mastered, people laughed at her. I would like to see a more relatable and likable Mariah. A Mariah focused on her music and not on her breasts, head lighting and champagne. She brings out that Mariah when she wants to, but rarely. I enjoy her on Oprah. She sounds grounded, and focused when she's being interviewed by her, but I think she knows better than acting silly around Oprah, lol. It is weird, but Mariah was more likable from Butterfly to The Emancipation Of Mimi, but after that her persona comes across as if she were a twenty something year old Mariah, just my opinion. (41,461) by J from USA I highly doubt the reason Mariah's singles haven't had commercial success is because she doesn't have her 90's voice. Mariah can still sing and to me hasn't lost that power she had in the 90's. The only difference between now and 1995 is the quality of the music. IDC what anybody says but Mariah will get a hit when she stops trying to recreate We belong Together. It's real evident that she had tried. I Stay In Love (the only reason this got chosen as single was because the lambs all said it was WBT part 2), Bye Bye, HATEU, I Want To Know What Love Is, TAOLG and now You're Mine. It's obvious.
