Just for fun (38,749) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada So, I was watching some of my MC videos the other day and thinking about how much I appreciate her sense of humor. It is an aspect of her personality I've always found endearing. I've found her humor is often misunderstood by people as well. This got me to thinking about starting a topic to discuss funny moments over the the years. She's had so many, one that I absolutely love, one that always sticks out to me and never fails to make me laugh is her reaction during an interview when she was jokingly asked if she would rather be a turkey? Or a ham? LMAO. Combined with fits of laughter, Mariah wants to clarify for some reason whether or not she's a cooked ham, or a cooked turkey. Lol It is complete absurd silliness, but it is hilarious to me. Her reactions are priceless, and it is rare to see her that relaxed. If the topic is of no interest, move along. I won't be offended. I had to re-read my own post after the response I've had and it only reassured me as to my stance. You'd think I'd asked for a 3000 word essay from MC on my desk by 9am followed by a Times Square press conference. I didn't. All I actually asked was for her to be real, show us the real her and stop the facade. The word admitted was used once and then taken out of context by fans. The word owe (a particular favourite of the prosecution) wasn't used at all. My post has been deconstructed, sentences dismissed, context ignored and run with to the level that it's become a non related discussion, even after my disclaimer in the last post. I and many others have said it before on this board but at this point, it's really tedious to have to defend yourself against people that can't be bothered to do as much as read your posts properly and thus we lose some great people and potentially great discussions on here. All the critics (38,742) by clueey23 from USA I've been coming to this message board for years and the atmosphere has changed, and not for the good. I remember when it was fun and you could come here and express positive things about Mariah and her music. Now everyone thinks they know everything because over the past decade the "celebrity" has been diluted. Reality television has ruined it for me. And as much as liked seeing MC on American Idol, it opened her up to that "reality tv" factor. I love her on Facebook and Instagram, but people thinking they know about whatever struggles or anything personal like her voice is just sick to me. Seriously, everyone's voices change, but it's not like MC is singing off key or horrible. She opened up to us about the nodules on her vocal chords back in 2005 on the E. special. Sometimes it would be absolutely the best to lip sync or whatever. Nodules are painful. Just like the GMA performance when she was trying to go into the whistle on #Beautiful and all we got was air. I saw it before they dubbed it over, she is a human being first, a wife, a mother, and a singer-songwriter, producer, and then she is a celebrity. Fall back with your critics, as if you could even come close to anything she has accomplished in the last 25 years. The music and entertainment industry is a very very difficult and dangerous place to be. And when she performed "Looking in", that's all I could think about. You all think you know, but have no idea what it's like. Sit back and enjoy her artistry please. (Friday 19 July 2013; 1:36)

Fans / PJW (38,741) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom I find it ludicrous that some fans come onto this message board and have the cheek to tell other fans that they shouldn't be a fan, just because they express an opinion that doesn't offer Mariah false worship. At the end of the day, we all have the right to say what we want, and as long s it's not offensive to Mariah, then it's all good. As far as I'm concerned, PJW said nothing that was directly offensive towards Mariah or other fans on this board. Do you think the same can be said for the fans that have come on here an insulted him? I think you'll find that the answer is no. Also, for what it's worth, I don't agree with PJW that Mariah should admit that the voice is damaged. RadChad made a very good argument agent against why, and I agree. However, even though I was happy with the most recent performance, especially Looking In, I must admit that it's only because expectations have been set so low in recent months. It seems some fans are happy to applaud mediocrity. PJW isn't, and I rate him for that. We are all fans. We have all invested time and money into Mariah, and should be able to come on here and speak openly, without being told that we should consider whether or not to be a fan. We get to choose to be fans, and we get to choose to express an opinion. Deal with it. We can like Mariah as a recording artist and question her as a performing artist. I think she decides to not use it because when she does, she gets labeled a showoff and when she doesn't, critics say it's because she can't. She can't win either way. I am tired of seeing people complain about what how she sings, how she drinks, how she does everything wrong. Simple solution: Stop following her career. Something is wrong with a person if they complain about the same thing constantly. Every singer has good and bad days. She has admitted about her vocal nodules. That's the explanation. Plus Mariah does not owe us anything. In my eyes, she has treated her fans like her own friends. Other celebrities are snobs. It's hard to take care of any voice. Is it a new single? (38,736) by Edward from USA According to MC's team, she had dislocated ber shoulder while on the set for the Jeezy remix video. Looking at the fact that #Beautiful is already fading out airplay and saleswise, why have they waited so long to release the damn video? Well, I now think that Mariah was probably not making a video for the remix, but for a new single that might be released on 7/23. As I had stated before, it would be a terrible timing to release anything #Beautiful related at this point, but it would make perfect sense to release a new single. I just hope she has everything ready this time. I am a little bit concerned because record labels don't usually make priority of an artist who's leaving them, so their support and promotion might not be that good when the album comes out. I have been a fan since day one and as soon as her voice changed I knew it. Throughout the years I have learned to accept her voice limitations. We were the ones who supported her, bought her records by the bucket load and helped her realise her dream and have "a house in Capri with her own G4 and a Benz with the doors that lift up from the floor" (Get Your Number). Sure she has natural talent, but a lot of musicians are equally as talented or more so than Mariah and do not have a fanbase as supportive as hers. So yes, she owes us. Just like any successful business owes their customers. Let's not forget she also described herself as a "corporation" (Obsessed). Mariah is paid huge amounts of money to sing. I am paid money to do my job, and I don't copy and paste work I did ten years ago. This is effectively what she does when she mimes. The sad fact is, like Whitney, it is seemingly self inflicted. Difference in opinions (38,728) by Joe from United Kingdom It's good to see that I wasn't the only one who thinks that Mariah doesn't really owe anybody an explanation about her voice. I actually for a minute thought I was the only one, but at the same time it's good to see there are people who think otherwise. I enjoy this message board because some of us actually have constructive criticisms and different things to say. If we all acted like everything was rainbows and sunshine, it would become stale very fast. I don't think it's a case of people bashing Mariah, some people are just curious about certain things or are just stating an opinion, good or bad. As much as I might put up a post and someone may respond in dissagreement, at the same time they do also make valid points that I can actually agree with it, works both ways. I don't feel the need to tell people, well if you don't like it don't come here or don't read it. It's not that serious, it's just a different opinion, everybody has one. Just saying. We all have opinions and the right to share them without being spoken to in that manner. Eric, to be honest I'm surprised you've allowed it to be posted and with all due respect, I use this message as an official complaint/flag of Jakers comment. Back to the topic. If I'm honest with myself, she's already known as the diva with the damaged voice. Trust me when I say that despite whatever sympathetic review you'll read, today's news is tomorrows chip paper and the general public will soon forget the physical injuries and see that the voice is indeed damaged. Infact, please lets not even kid ourselves. The fact that they all scream about her lipping is evidence of their awareness, they're not stupid. Who does Mariah think shes' kidding by not being honest about it? As I said, (some of us) as fans listen with our heart not our head. Non fans listen objectively and it's plain for all to see and so the continued marketing of the golden voice is a flawed project that'll ultimatley fail. Singing songs like Looking In is a good tactical move. It uses mostly her head voice, still her strongest, it's slow so allows breath and can give an impression of vocal strength and it conjures up emotion and thus loyalty amongst fans. But the chest notes were weak and like in the CB era, whisper tactics can't last long. I shouldn't have to write disclaimers, but I will as as usual on this board words and opinions are put in peoples mouths/misconstrued and I'd rather be clear and save the hassle. I don't want Mariah to make a press release, twitter announcement, an album liner note or stand on the top floor of the penthouse declaring her voice is damaged. I just dont want false marketing, false claims, lipping or poor arrangement. I agree with other users when they say that no, the voice hasn't completely gone and there's alot of potential for it to come back to a certain level and sound stunning and also that she should work within her boundaries. I'd be more than happy and believe me, I'm grateful everytime she does. Christmas at the White House was stunning, even if she didn't finish the song properly because it was genuine, real, professional and to the best of her ability at the time. The general public is not convinced by her lipping or even her statements, it's glaringly obvious to all. If I had a pound for every time an acquaintance has volunteered up the information "but she can't sing anymore, can she?", I'd be writing this from a beach somewhere. Re: Jaker20 (38,725) by Badr from USA I applaud constructive criticism, and I'm sure Mariah herself does too. I believe it helps people grow, evolve, and improve. However, some people take it too far, and turned this site into a public Mariah Carey bashing site. I remember someone asking if "Mariah's rhinoplasties affected the quality of her voice". Someone else claimed that "the excessive drinking, the parties, they all contributed to the decline of her voice". I also read a post claiming that she was old, and that was the reason for her "declined" ability to sing live. I didn't know so many intimate friends of her post here. In regards to her voice, I've seen her perform live 4 times, including one in 2010. I noticed her voice is still strong and versatile. Mariah will not always sound perfect, but eventually she shuts haters up with astonishing performances. (Wednesday 17 July 2013; 20:26)

I just hope you found some humor in that because some of us bicker back and forth and at the end of the day most of us will buy the album/music once it releases anyway. So either we buy her music, she lip-syncs, or whatever it is she does, we will either continue to support her or we don't. She is already well off whether we continue to be fans or not. That's just how I see it, I can complain as much as I wanted to during the E=MC2 album. IMO I think that album is way better then the over rated TEOM. I just was annoyed and I got rid of some of her things but here comes Memoirs and I still bought it so everyone has their moments of disappointment.
