Mariah's dress (37,470) by Stacey from USA
I agree. Mariah's black/gold dress was stunning. I know many here defend MC's dress options to show the girls off, defending her right to dress how she wants, etc. But c'mon, even you guys have to admit covering up the "girls" sends a better message. Mariah's dress choices during the finalists AI shows has been perfection. Her clothes aren't distracting folks from her role as a judge. Notice the media isn't focusing on them either, because she isn't choosing revealing clothing. I know, I know the media will find something to criticize, but I don't hear them attacking her clothing lately. I hope she chooses something stunning if and when she performs live on the show, so people can focus on the music and not revealing clothes, which tend to distract from the music.

Oh my, I loved the black and gold dress MC wore last night. Stunning. That dress was everything.

Nikki / American Idol (37,466) by Stacey from USA
I agree. I watched last night's AI episode too and my only thought was Nicki is endlessly irritating. I had DVRd the recording and after 1-2 singers, I found myself constantly fast forwarding past NM's comments. The rest of the judges try to offer thoughtful criticism trying to help the contestants and then Minaj who must be living in her own reality. She's just nuts. For whatever the reason she continues to act the way she does, I could care less. She's just freaking annoying. Period.

What is Nicki's problem? (37,465) by nikki from usa
Nicki is good for ratings, because people love to see someone animated or being obnoxious. It doesn't require any talent to chew someone out. I appreciate Mariah trying to give the people singing something to shoot for, even though it appears as if her mind wants to say 100 things and her mouth can't keep up. Today, both Randy and MC told a girl she's versatile, but mentioned her strength in Rock and they wanted to hear more of it. Then, Nicki goes off saying she doesn't "have to" do Rock. She can do Broadway, this, that, or whatever she wants. Then turns around to her "little marshmellow" and tells her she's country. Can't the marshmellow do Broadway, this, or that? Every judge does their job without Nicki trying to trump those who, quite frankly, have more experience than she does. I also noticed Mariah really walking on eggshells everytime she commented. "This is just my opinion." " I know not everyone may agree with this." You're a judge, girl. Your job is to give your opinion while you critique, or mentor, or whatever. In that moment no one else's matters. Nicki needs to get some respect and check the attitude at the door. You don't have to agree with anyone, but no one's paying you to critique the other judges. The judges say their piece, you say yours and move on. Mariah will never show her real personality on this show because she has her guard up, which is a damn shame.

Mariah Carey my idol (37,464) by Anthony Early from Wales
This woman is my idol, because I believe that above all else, over-coming obstacle over obstacle she is the greatest female vocalist to ever grace Earth with their talent and I am so proud to be a Mariah Carey fan. Everything she does goes above and beyond and through the many successes and (relative) failures she has not strayed from being true to herself. And may I add her true fans. Andrew, the only reason I consider addressing your vile comments is to tell you how wrong you are and how vulgar your presumptions. Mariah, my idol, never change. Many have tried to force you and all have failed. Cliche but true - often imitated, never duplicated. Keep shining. Love to my MCA family. Lamb for twelve years and untill I breathe my last I shall remain.

Andrew from the UK (37,463) by Jenny from South Africa
If you're going to complain about all MC's bad moves, then at least get all your facts straight. Barbara is the one who called Mariah. Barbara said that from the beginning. You sound like quite an expert. I guess you've also sold over 200 million albums.

I'm glad to have new music (37,462) by Jenny from South Africa
I'm just grateful that Mariah still makes music that I enjoy and love. I'd also love if she had more number ones, but honestly, I was worried she would stop making music after she fell pregnant (which I would completely understand after 20-something years of music making). But she's still releasing music and I genuinely still love her new music so I'm happy. Celine is also working on a new album and I'm grateful for that too, because they are my 2 all time favourites.

Stop eating nuts (37,461) by Stacey from USA
Some of you are nuts. The lady has sold over 200 million records with 18 #1 hits and countless Top 10 hits, etc. Why not tout that record? No one will ever come close again to selling that many records. No one. She has earned it. I'm with Deedre on this one. Sure I would love to see her beat the Beatles record, but for me it's all about good music. I want the sequel to "return of the voice" this time around. And I agree with Nikki too. The last time people counted out Mariah, she blasted right back with WBT. The record was so hot, radio stations had to play it. The same goes with TMB. That line from the BW interview, "well if they counted me out, they'll just have to count me back in" is the best line ever. If the new album contains that "it" song, radio will have to play it. Even Obsessed off MOAIA went to #6 because it was catchy and people liked the video. And many here know I'm not afraid to criticize Mariah, lol. Even if MC doesn't reach the same type of commercial success she had in the 1990s, her place is still cemented in time. Numbers don't lie. They don't change because some other singer is the "in" thing right now. Rihanna may have her #1 hits, but she'll never, ever come close to selling 200 million records. So, just chill and enjoy the music. And even if her newest stuff isn't your thing, like sometimes for me, go back and listen to her early stuff. Relax and stop eating so many nuts.

Go back to more simplicity (37,460) by Sasha from Nomansland
If a Rhianna is able to reach the top with her horrible songs and awful voice (thanks to Jay Z), well there's nothing great about being a part of this crapy music industry. Number 1's doesn't mean anything anymore today. As Mariah has nothing to prove anymore, why doesn't she go back to something more real, basic, underground ? There is a real and authentic audience who's hiding there. No more artifices, complacency and superficiality, only voice and emotions, I'm sure she could benefit from more simplicity. I do think she lost most of her credibility because of her image and diva style. The girl needs someone to help her walking around because her shoes are too high and she wears too tight clothes she can't barely move or breath, it's getting ridiculous. Lord knows I miss the time when music what only about talent, emotion and voice.

Nattalie, thank you (37,459) by Gilbert from USA
Trust me, I got so interested in it once I googled YouTube videos. Everything in my opinion is making sense to me as far as these people (Bey, Gaga, and Beyonce) are really making it in the industry and I really have to say what I saw and how it was put together was so interesting. If you haven't checked it out Nat, check out YouTube videos on illuminati in the music industry and you will open your eyes. Here this whole time you have little kids who idolize these women and they are sucking them into using signs that they have no idea what they mean. I'm really glad Mariah isn't involved in that. It's just very very interesting to see. Especially with the three ladies mentioned above. The signs are all there yet we (my self included) didn't notice it before until I started listening and watching the videos of the explanation. So main case guys, to me it all makes sense why these ladies are so successful, if they indeed make this pact with the Illuminati to gain fame. You're seeing it all on video. So I just want to say thank you Nattalie.

I'm still enjoying Mariah (37,458) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
The media can rip at her for being a diva. Pick at her music videos, say she'll no longer be a hit blah blah blah. I'll always be a fan who considers her my favorite female singer. And I am enjoying Idol right now because of her and Keith Urban. Whether she gets another #1 doesn't really matter. Sure, it would be nice, but I don't think things are as bad as some are taking then right now. JMO.

In the spirit of positivity (37,457) by nikki from usa
I gotta acknowledge the unrealistic expectations here. Yes, Mariah will have future hits, apparently fans/critics alike didn't learn from the folly of counting her out the last time around. Will it be right now? I don't know only time will tell. Hitting success is hard, sustaining it nearly impossible. But, that's exactly what Mariah did for a decade. Whitney, Celine, Madonna - all of them have had ups and downs in music. Mariah never did, so the first time it happened everyone counted her out. By CB, she was already back in form rivaling the sales of Emotions. So, when she "poww-ed" back in '05 everyone (except a few of us) were surprised. She kept the ball rolling in '08. Since then, she's released exactly 2 albums, and 1 of them was seasonal, a second Christmas album. Not something you'd expect to be a huge hit, yet its ringtones alone sold over a million copies. Triumphant went to #1 on the Dance Chart and she did a song for Disney. These are good things, and whether she's achieving the "kind" of successs you think she should, she's still racking up creds. It's ok for Mariah to have some "down" times like every other artist in between her major successes. Just because every album isn't a mega seller doesn't mean she's over. This isn't the '90's anymore and the "kind of 90's success" never did exist for any other artist but Mariah.

Positivity from negativity (37,456) by jaker20 from US
I know there's been a lot of criticisms here, but I know in my heart, these all reaches MC somehow. This is like our little support system, like a little MC family. Where else do you want us to post these concerns? Me and a lot of frustrated fans want to get these out of our chest. So don't even get into how much a fan I am and I will show you boxes full of MC merch and how I use to travel miles and miles just to see her, you have no freaking idea how crazy I am and still am about her. And you know, if MC chose otherwise, then that's ok too. But not saying anything is not constructive. I know in my heart it's important for us to say what we feel and what is really bothering us. Because I know MC listens and the next album will be awesome and super hot because she listens and learned and is a true artist. But don't tell us to stop, that doesn't help in any way, that just drives people away and forget about her.

[...] (37,454) by Andrew from UK
This project is already dead in the water. She's even talking about it since 2011. So far there's been one disaster after another: 1. Jenny Craig (really superstar stuff) 2. Home Shopping "moments" 3. Same-old tired and lipped concert performances in Oz, Morocco etc. 4. AI (comes across as arrogant and aloof; fighting Nicki Minaj, then calling Barbra Walters? Tell the teacher as well?) 5. Triumphant (out-of-date sounding flop; rapper-only verses objectifying women and boasting of lamboughinis? Groundbreaking.) 6) Almost Home; no promo at all? She was on television twice, yet hardly mentioned it. What was the point in doing it? Two consecutive singles not charting on the hot100. Fans need to really wake up and start being realistic about how this career is crashing due to no-one else but her bad career decisions. We all deserve better. This is going to be worse than Memoirs. I that possible. She won't ever recover.

Giselle L. (37,453) by jaker20 from US
I agree with you completely. The release pattern that she's been doing in the 90s which is uptempo followed by a ballad is super tired. I was here. I was here when E=MC2 was released. I keep saying, please no Bye Bye, don't release Bye Bye. But they went with it, and guess what, her career went into a nosedive. This morning I was jamming this what many refer to as MC's 19th no.1 song which ever was Migrate. It was the highest charting song on iTunes when the album was released, but they're so stuck in the past with creating the uptempo/ballad combo. I just hope MC learns from her mistakes. It has to be something fresh and cool, and then promote it. Who cares if she's 40. Duh, Cher had her biggest album/song ever well past her 50s, and even Madonna is beating her with her last no.1 album and top 10 single. If you're she's committed to it, then might as well take another long break and make more babies. There's nothing wrong with that anyway. Quit now while your legacy is still somewhat intact. It's embarrassing for her to release singles that no one buys or listens to. I know that's exaggeration, but how is the artist constantly promoted by her team as "most no.1s" but can't even hit hot 100? Don't do it. It makes the failure all the more obvious whenever they use that title.

Brad (37,452) by Nattalie from USA
If Beyonce came out with songs like Bow Down, and say I'm number one is this and smack that trick and guess what they did, smaked that trick, then Mariah Carey can say best selling female artist and #1. At least she earned it dang. I'm just saying we need to stand up for that lady and always be aware of her accomplishments. Every little bit means something. Wheather it's you or someone else. Be proud and rep what you have done. If you were building your resume, would you erase it because it's been a while? And the thing is, it's only been a while to outsiders, but not people like herself, because she lives and breaths music. I think for a woman with kids she is doing the best she can to do whatever she wants to do with her life and accomplishments.

AH alternate version (37,451) by Gerome from Canada
I was pleasantly surprised to hear a different version of Almost Home at the end credits of Oz TGAP. She removed the whispers at the beginning and the instrumental intro was doubled in length. She added vocal moans in some parts and I wondered why she did not so the amazing vocal runs at the end of the song. There was one chorus after the bridge instead of the usual two. They did a good decision on choosing the single version. The version on the film is very subtle, so sweet. I love both versions. Do any of you have an mp3 of the alternate version?

Gilbert (37,450) by Nattalie from USA
Thanks Gilbert for recognizing the real underlinging issue. Im surprised that we have not hit up this subject on this web page. Probably because there are so many rules on this message board. I don't know, but that mess is straight up real and I'm proud of Mariah for not being in it. All of us should be thankful for that and just accept Mariah for what it is. She is doing her best with these cheaters and payola mess. I did some big time deleting to Gilbert and glad Mariah was not one of them.

Nattlie (37,449) by Licia from USA
I have to agree with her being able to talk about everything she has achieved in her career. Why shouldn't she talk about it? Why shouldn't she strive to to break the Beatles record? So because she's proud she accomplished so much and she wants to continue to achieve more, she's all in her head? Really? This campaign for the most number ones started way before IDJ. Sony Records anyone? When Almost Home first came out, a good majority of you were on this get Mariah her 19th number one kick and now because it didn't do like you wanted it to, you all changed your tune. If it had reached number one, these discussions would be so different, so miss me with all this stuff you all are saying.

Acceptance (37,448) by Andrew Lo from Philippines
Mariah is not a hit anymore. But that doesn't mean her legacy and legend will be forgotten. Maybe it's her decision, to live a comfortable simpler life than all the glitz and glamour. If she is hungry for more hits, she would have made an effort to doing so, but obviously she's not. She released 2 songs and never bothered promote them. I know she and her management won't give a rat's ass on whatever I say or you say for that matter. But still, truth be told, I am weary and I feel abandoned. I crave for great music from her but she underwhelms me. I know, my point doesn't and will not move the earth but atleast for me, it matters. Lyrically, Triumphant is outstanding. Maybe the way it was produced tanked, do away with rappers anymore. Almost Home was dumbing, the lyrics very elementary. There is no heart in it. Where is the great music that was once Mariah? Something to inspire the world. So many great artists today write music way better than her. But she's the best at it, I know and i dont need a number 1. But atleast, give us great music, something that will stand time and will quiet the hater. You're not doing yourself any favour. I love you as much as we all do, but you know that we loved you for your music, not for your other stuff around you. [...]

Mariah titles (37,447) by RadChad from United States
I'm not sure how much of it is her or her teams fault regarding her being announced as the "most this" and the "best selling that", but I would agree that maybe it's a constant reminder to the powers that be that, "we can't let this woman eclipse the Beatles, she already got King Elvis", having said that I could agree with the "stealthy" approach mentioned. We must remember Mariah has had her underdog moments in the industry from being snubbed by the Grammies for years, crucified and written off for Glitter, to being dragged through the mud over her breakdown. So I'm sure there's people out there that feels some kind of way about her success being slapped across their faces (which I love btw ). However, by her being the diva everyone loves to hate on and write off, the stealthy approach is the way to go (*whispers* at least until she breaks the Beatles record. Shhh! *looks over shoulder*).

Beyonce, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga (37,446) by Gilbert from USA
Hey lambs, I'm not sure if this will even be allowed on the board, but it made me think about something. A lot members here mention how famous the 3 women are, there were others, but I chose these top three because I noticed them being talked about the most. Now I'm not big in church and I don't know how I got involved in Beyonce and the illumina sign. So it makes me think of videos I checked out early on the Illuminati in the music industry and it's pretty interesting. These top 3 people have fame and have all used signs that represent the Illuminati. Maybe this is the case of their fame. It was just an observation, but I ended up removing all their music once I seen videos on YouTube. I just never noticed any of that until I seen on video.

Worries? Who cares? (37,445) by Jimbo from UK
Don't waste time worrying about whether MC will have a hit or not. Frankly, who cares? She's a mother now, happy and settled. Let's just be thankful that she finally found stability and a happy family to love and be loved. Never forget, we nearly lost her during the Glitter-era.
