New album (36,541) by darnell from United States
I honestly don't mind if Mariah's working with Dream, as long as they're only doing a song or two. I just hope Mariah's not boxing herself in and she works with other producers besides the usual suspects. I wouldn't mind her working with Diplo (the guy who did Climax by Usher) or Rick Rubin (the guy who did Adele's One And Only). I would just like her to diversify her sound and not be so redundant.

MC/Dream (36,540) by Geezy from USA by way of NYC
Hopefully this time around we get a song or two with different production and not the same sound he has used since 07-08. I won't make judgments on an unfinished product. I just want our girl to pull everything together and I hope she shocks us in a good way with this new album. Also I have to agree Stacey, Mariah is at her best when she works with different producers on different things, because she can experiment with different sides of her instrument also. That was a major part of her great success over the years, stepping out of the box, but making it her own.

Stacey (36,539) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Nobody is saying she can't like somebody more than Mariah, well at least I'm not. That's not the issue. It's coming onto a Mariah messageboard and mentioning 11 other artists above her in a list. It's not necessary, as it's a Mariah messageboard, not a generic messageboard for numerous artists. I don't care if she likes Whitney, or anybody else for that matter, more than Mariah, it's just that this is a Mariah messageboard and therefore it's not really the forum for that kind of thing. I don't expect everyone to be all Mariah, all the time lol. I love plenty of other female artists, but I'm not gonna bang on about it on this messageboard. Well, not unless there's a very specific issue, a la Ms Minaj lol. This message isn't meant in a nasty way, just thought I should make my viewpoint clear.

New album (36,537) by George Golden from UK
Please Mariah, it's time to release some serious music, enough alread. Let go of that rap hip hop that's got you captive for so long now. Please, we need the Mariah that we all fell in love with. Big ballads, big and loud uptempo numbers. The uptempo numbers as singles and the ballads to sell the album. You are an incredible artist, that's why we invest so much of our time on you. Please, don't let us down.

My two cents about Desiree (36,536) by Nattalie from USA
Ok, look Stephen was right, if you come to a Mariah web page, don't put numbers within your list. Just don't. How would you feel if someone wrote out a list numerically and put you at #12? You don't even have to really mean anything negative, it's just the fact that you where the 12th person that was thought about. You are the 12th person thought of in a line of talent. You can't bring that mess to a Mariah Carey board and say that she is the very last person that came to your mind. That's like me making a list of the best dancers and Michael Jackson comes down to number 12. How the heck did Michael become my 12th thought? It just doesn't happen. You dogged Mariah and we all know it. We are not dumb. Now it's not that serious, but I'm fronting you because you lied in our face and thought you could get away with it and you continue to lie.

The Dream (36,535) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
No Mariah, just no. This album is starting to sound worse by the minute. She needs a fresh approach and fresh collaborators. She should give Frank Ocean a try. I note that he's currently in the studio with Alicia Keys. She should also try Bangladesh if she's looking for a banger. What about Missy? She needs something fresh. I shouldn't judge the music before I hear it, but she's been leaving her fans down with music for quite a while now, so it's hard to be optimistic.

The Dream? I don't know / move on, folks (36,534) by Stacey from USA
One of the reasons I didn't care for Memoirs is all the songs sounded the same, because she worked with the same producers. The album for me got boring real quick, because it all sounded the same. I hope they are working together on a few songs. The best albums are when MC works with different people to produce different sounds that can still make for a cohesive album. Anywho, seriously some dwell on the opinions of others way to much. It's her opinion, not fact. There are days I love Celine more than Mariah. Uh oh, did I say that out loud? Who cares? Really. And Bob, there is no need to sacrifice yourself for Desiree, lol. It's her opinion. People need to let her opinion stand and not take things so personally. Some get so offended when someone posts they like another singer more than Mariah. I don't recall Desiree attacking us Mariah fans with her thoughts. So she likes someone more than Mariah. She can't post here because of that? Doesn't bother me. Doesn't change the fact that we all love MC. So, let her post and move on to something YOU like to talk about. Peace.

The Dream 2012 (36,533) by CDC from CA
I have to say - I hope they're not working together again. If it didn't work in 2009, it won't work in 2013 when the R&B climate is only getting dryer. Personally, I'm not a fan of the songs they wrote together (i.e. Touch My Body, Obsessed, HATE U, et. al). Lyrically, I find those songs to be so far below pedestrian that they're just down right juvenile. Fun songs to bop your head to, but when all the dust settles, there is no meat. But I read on Variety about a month ago that The Dream was appointed an executive position at Def Jam, so hopefully that's where his involvement ends with Mariah's new project.

Mariah back in the studio with The Dream (36,532) by Stella from Greece
Instead of focusing on some random person posting here only for attention and trolling purposes, I suggest we go back to discussing Mariah's music. I'm so excited Mariah's working with Terius again. They have made some great songs together. From Touch My Body, to My Love, to HATE U, to Up Out My Face, to the wonderful unreleased song They Don't Know Me. Hoping to hear some of that magic on the new album. This is great news.

A lamb sacrifice - don't say I never did anything for you Desiree (36,531) by Anonymous from
Shoot, I just realized I left Rebecca Black off my favourite female singers list, darn it. Is it too late to boot Mariah Carey off the list so I can add Rebecca? (There you go Desiree. They'll be coming after me now.)

It's just simple tact or plain common sense! (36,530) by Edward from USA
Simple common sense would tell you that if you were to go to a Madonna's messageboard and placed her as your 12th best, people would jump on your throat and that's to be expected. I don’t buy the lame excuse of the computer shutting off. We fans are somewhat biased towards our favorites. You can be sure that if Whitney or Celine were my favorites, I wouldn't be posting here, that's all, or at least I would be tactful. Mariah, Whitney and Celine are the divine trinity, but I prefer Mariah over them and that's why I'm here. We all here argue, fight and disagree, but we all share love for Mariah, and that's why we keep coming back here. I assume she's our favorite. I've been coming to this messageboard for 14 years now, and apart from her list, Desiree is the first fan that has stated preferring Whitney over Mariah. She's been rather tactless when it comes to realizing that this is a Website dedicated to Mimi. I don't find anything wrong with liking other artist, I love Eva Cassidy, Whitney, and Celine myself, but this is not just a random site. Instead of encouraging Desiree to keep doing the same, we should encourage her to realize where she's posting, and to have a little consideration for us who have Mariah as number one on our lists on a site clearly devoted to her. Peace.

Desiree (36,529) by Geezy from USA by way of NYC
I am one man who is outspoken as well, so an outspoken woman would never put fear in me or intimidate me. All I did was state as most people did my opinion based on your list. As I said before, I just found it odd you posted your top 12 favorite female singers and placed Mimi last on a messageboard that is strictly dedicated to her. But you added your reason and I totally respect it. No harm, no foul. I hope we can now move on from this subject once and for all, at least our issue anyway lol.

Desiree (36,528) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
You've been banging on about how you prefer Whitney in recent weeks, which is cool, because that's your opinion. Yet you place her at number 1, and put Mariah at 12. This may have lead people to jump to the conclusion that they arrived at. If it was not a list which ranked your favourite singers, then may I suggest you don't number it next time you choose to draw up such a list. Numbering lists usually equates to ranking items in order of importance, or as in this case, preference. I don't think your opinions are too outspoken for this board, I just think they are ill thought through, badly worded and clearly fail to represent the purpose for which they were intended. Don't shoot me for this response, it's just an opinion.

Thank you/Geezy (36,527) by Desiree from USA
To the ones who understand my top 12 and know that my list was clearly made to represent each of these ladies talent. To Geezy, sorry if I'm too much of an out spoken woman and I'm not afraid to say what I feel that need to be said.

No need fot hating (36,526) by Zachary from Croatia
I don´t think that Desiree had any attention to upset some people here. I understand why is all the fuss about but this is Mariah fan page and we are all writing on her paige and those names or other divas is on her paige... making respect to her. God bless all.

Mariah's money (36,525) by nikki from usa
I read that Mariah has a net worth of 500 million and crunched the numbers, that's really accurate. The amazing thing is, this is off music sales alone (albums, singles, videos/dvds), not even including concert tours or anything else she's done. Assuming the info is correct, an exec said a vocalist of Mariah's caliber earns $2 per album sold plus .50 cents for writing and another .50 for producing. That's $3 per album sold. So, Music Box earned her 72 million in album sales alone and Daydream 60 million. Then take into account songs she's written for others: Faith Hill, Allure, Trey Lorenz for MIB soundtrack. On top of tours, beauty lines, ringtones, and unknown to most people in the West - Mariah's been doing commercials over in Asia since '91. If Mariah never made another dollar again as long as she lived, she'd still be earning over 8 million a year in interest. As rich as MC is, by comparison, she really doesn't spend a lot. So many celebs buy a bunch of houses or huge mansions with lots of cars. Mariah's most expensive space was a $9 million apartment. Think of that compared to Micheal Jackson's Neverland and MC's penny pinching. Even with a full makeup crew, properties, vehicles, traveling, and shopping sprees, Mariah spends less than 3 million a year. In music, even MC's "flops" are still worth millions to record companies. No matter what she does, how she ages, or who's promoting her - this woman will always be able to make music.

Right on point, Davey J (36,524) by Stacey from USA
Right on with your thoughts, Davey J. I couldn't have said it better myself. Some tend to dwell on the opinions of others way too much. It is just her opinion, not fact. Nothing to lose sleep over, lol. Go ahead and pop in that favorite MC record of yours and move on. Keep it light, folks. Things ain't that deep. Peace.

Seriously? (36,523) by Davey J from USA
I think you guys should cut Desiree some slack. Her list was clearly not in order of who is the best at anything. Dolly Parton, Madonna, and Anita Baker are nowhere close to each other in audience, voice, sound, etc, etc, but they were 6th, 7th, and 8th on her list. She was clearly just listing her favorite people in no particular order with an emphasis on what quality each brought to the table that was more unique than anyone else. Unlucky for her it came across the way it did, but I think she's gotten the point and no longer needs to be bullied. She came up with an excuse to defend her post, because you guys are being unreasonable, and unfortunately it backfired. So she was misunderstood and I think we've all been there and can relate and it's time to move on.

Desiree (36,522) by Will from England
Dahling, your message didn't get onto the messageboard by your computer simply shutting down. Unless of course it can click "submit" and "I agree to the doodaa" as well as check and re-submit, whilst shutting down then that's quite a feat for your computer to do! Your message even starts with "My Top 12", how can anyone interpret that in any other way?

Lol (36,521) by Ian James from Sabah, Malaysia
Desiree made a huge mistake when she posted her top 12 female singers. Clearly, her main intention was to evoke emotional responses from other people. As it turned out, everyone started to wonder why she was even here. She hated having her sanity put into question so she made up a lame excuse. How did she hit the submit button? I guess her computer has the ability to draw power even when turned off.

Desiree: Aplogy not accepted! (36,520) by Edward from USA

Let's get it straight (36,516) by Desiree from USA
First of all my, computer shut down on me before I was able to completely say what I have to say. What I meant was, these twelve women changed the music industry and to be quite clear, this is not my top 12 list. I was explaining what each other did and wanted to get people opinions on these ladies and there titles given to them by society.

My number 1 (36,515) by Stella from Greece
My number 1 will always be my Mariah, simply because there is no other voice compared to hers and there will never be another (past or present) voice better than hers. Fact. Also because Mariah, unlike other divas, is blessed with an enormous songwriting talent, great live performance skills and a ravishing beauty and genuinely good personailty. But since we doing Top 12's lol, here is mine:
1. Mariah Carey
2. Patti LaBelle
3. Celine Dion
4. Shirley Bassey
5. Shirley Murdock
6. Aretha Franklin
7. Roberta Flack
8. Dionne Warwick
9. Donna Summer
10. Kelly Clarkson
11. Adele
12. Cyndi Lauper
