That would be three but what kills me about this whole thing is how the internet keeps giving her writing credits. The only reason I thought she co-wrote All My Life was because if you google it all of the sites say she wrote it with Rick James. I don't know why she didn't collaborate on Almost Home. Isn't that Stargate whom she's worked with before? But yea the internet has me stating the wrong information and you know how much I'm about the truth.

My final thoughts (102,698)
by Tevin from USA

As many of you know I rarely post on here even though I read all the comments. I'm just posting a lot now, not only to vent, but to say that I'm truly worried and saddened. I hope Mariah will be able to bounce back in some way. My wish is to get one more Rarities or MC 30 album, with one new song, that she can studio piece meal together, if she has to, and then for Mariah to enjoy her time with her family, and other business ventures, including her movie about her life. I hope she doesn't retire though, if she can just show up to shows and instead of performing a huge difficult set list, that most "good" singers now days wouldn't be able to get through, she should just sing one song from start to finish. No tricks, no gimmicks, no smoke no mirrors. All I wish is to be able to stand before Mariah one day and hear here gracefully sing Hero or Vision of Love, with a piano or guitar. Ok my rant is over. Take care everyone, and remember, everyone's opinions matter.

I say these comments out of love. I agree with you Randy. I know Mariah loves to sing because it's literally her life and passion. I never would ask nor want her to retire. Even if she only produces songs in a low register with no belts, I wouldn't have a problem with that because I love her artistry. But with everything you mentioned in your post about all the smoke and mirror tricks that Mariah does, I can't help but wonder, doesn't that have to be torture for her. I mean I can't imagine standing on stage having to do all these tricks to prove your voice is still there, while worrying that something can, may and probably will go wrong in front of hundreds of not thousands of people. I just hope people on her payroll aren't forcing her to do all of these events if she isn't able or up to it.

So I watched the concert and to be honest, this is how MC has sounded since Caution. No better no worse. The strained sustained notes to prove she can sing. The cutting up of long notes and adding stacatto "hey hey". The moments of clarity that we all know are backing tracks. Background singers singing verses that don't have backgrounds on verses on the original. The fidgeting with the ear monitor. The tossing the hair from side to side when she lips a note in case she miscounted how long to keep her mouth open. All of this is normal. So to come here and see you guys say it's a new low or it's bad baffles me. Some of you are acting like the house just caught fire. It burned down a long time ago.

Hi Chicago Lamb, yes I loved the show, the show of Boys 2 Men [Boyz II Men] singing, while literally almost every note that Mariah sang did not come out. Oh and I'm not talking about "did not come out", as in pitchy or flat, I mean no discernable sound came out of her mouth. Something is very wrong and I hope she can fix it. We can show love to others but also point out flaws where they should make improvements. I mean, I can't believe I'm saying this, I'm no professional but I honestly could have sang all those songs better than Mariah.

New low? (102,695)
by Tevin from USA
| |
|

Not to add insult to injury, but this is clearly voice issues not just vocal, as in singing, issues. I noticed multiple times when Mariah was speaking to the crowd, like when she yelled welcome Boys 2 Men [Boyz II Men], her voice broke and she didn't complete the phrase. That was just with her speaking. Something is very very wrong. But it's Mariah Carey, and if anyone can bounce back, it will be her.

Let's not be too hard on her, and still remember that she might be doing the best she can with what's left of her ability right now, which from the clips we saw is not much. Her voice issues are serious seeing as how many times she kept sipping tea and still it wasn't enough. At this point, her options are slim – it's voice therapy or the much dreaded surgery. Being in her shoes must be very scary as we all know what happened to Bonnie Tyler's voice and Julie Andrews more recently. I know it scares Mariah to think of surgery and putting her gift, career and future all on the line. What I want to see Mariah do is a lifestyle change and to seek professional help. Build your voice from the ground back up again with a voice therapist and a vocal coach, those exercises really do work. Find out what you've been doing wrong and correct that technique. You'll be surprised how much of her vocal problems are superficial.

Hi Randy, not that I'm one to spend my life trying to disprove others, but I knew deep down in my soul something was telling me Mariah didn't write "Almost Home" and I finally remembered. It was in her memoir, she wrote this:
"I love to collaborate with people, but in the rare instances when I've done other people's songs, I haven't liked it. There was a Disney song I did five, six years ago called "Almost Home", and I never really liked it. No offence to whoever wrote it, and I did it because Disney wanted me to do it, but it didn't feel like me at all."
So where does this leave us with our tally?

They do this every year. [censored] And I'm not saying that to be shady. It is a fact. These same posters run to make these kinds of thread each time it's like a broken record, it is actually kind of sad. Imagine telling someone to get surgery instead of just clicking log-out. This is the level of entitlement these people have.
It's always the same, I enjoy watching it, then you come here and it's the same copy-paste posts from 6 months ago. What is new here? Nothing. Mariah's voice isn't the same. People are there to celebrate her music, to be with her on the event, with other lambs, and have fun and joyous. These guys hold a microscope to see if she is lipping. How sad. It is 2023, no one cares. If you want her to sing to your level of expectations, go watch American Idol or some singing competition, or slip those records and CDs from 30 years ago.
Ps, did you see how people are dragging Katy Petty for her performance during the coronation last night? Same energy. [the rest or this message is censored]

Maybe that is one of reasons she and Tanaka broke up. He probably wanted her to get some professional or medical help for her vocal issues. You know MC doesn't like to be told what she should do. I posted prematurely before I saw the rest of the videos. Can we all come to terms that we may never get a new Mariah Carey album? How can she produce an album with the state that her voice is in? It is sad that MC's career is on the verge of being over.

New low? (102,686)
by Bill from the UK

All of your message Terna makes sense and comes from a place of love. The only area I'd differ is on the surgery. At this point, what on earth is there left to lose? Her voice has gone. You, me, even J. Lo could have gone up on that stage and delivered better vocals than Mariah did. Everything good is lipped, everything live is either flat, off key, or sounds painful. Boyz II Men gave a dignified, decent performance, and sounded absolutely fine 25 odd years after Madison Square Garden. Mariah was absolutely dreadful by comparison.
We are all hurting here, and it seems the lipped Vision of Love was the eye opener for many. Some of us, myself included, have been beating this drum for a long time. The reality is, her voice has gone. How she lost it so rapidly doesn't really matter. Her options now are surgery, or resign.

I have to disagree. Her voice was in better shape in 2019/2020. Even back then she'd never lip VOL. You're right though. Her voice has been on steady decline for some time now. I just wasn't prepared for this drastic change in her 2022/2023 vocals. Oh well, at least we can enjoy her duet with Olivia that's been released on the new album.

The Boys II Men [sic] performance was tragic to watch. They were doing their best to support her and her current voice, but she literally couldn't sing a note from the song. It was painful to watch. It was nice to see the boys be so accommodating to her, but she needs help. The voice has slowly deteriorated since 97 onwards. During the Glitter era and the pregnancy, there was a resurgence, but for the most part, it has deteriorated to what we have now. I love Mariah and I do believe she is doing the best with what she has. I hope she puts the time and discipline into nurturing her voice.

New low? (102,675)

So I've just seen YouTube videos from the last show and I'm speechless. MC even lipped a part of VOL. The one thing I thought she'd never do. Her voice is shot. Idk what happened firing the Covid break but her voice got way worse even compared to 2019/2020 vocals. What is happening?
It looks like she has a bunch of yes people around her but someone should sit her down and tell her that she needs to get her shit together or just quit. I hate people saying "she has nothing to proof anymore" well of course she is (was) one of the greatest but if she wants to continue her career as a singer she should get her voice together or throw her golden mic away.
If it's the nodules she should get them removed now. I don't care if she loses her whistles. It's not like she can whistle now. It sounds very unpleasant with her current tone. I would be more the fine if she lipped whistles instead of lipping half of the song like she's doing now. I'm not even starting the VOL conversation. I'm sad, disappointed and scared for her. Please Mariah. Get the help you need.

She needs help (102,680)
by Brad from USA

Something horrible has happened to her voice. Undeniably. It seems worse than last month in France. That was at least somewhat passable. This latest Lovers & Friends "performance" isn't acceptable from a legacy artist. Simply not. We wish her only the best but these non-singing concerts can't go on. She seems to be the only singer "foiled" by the smoke and they played the no-sing remix of "Emotions" to get her off the stage. Shameful. I love her and always will but this can't go on.

Is it true to say that you were not impressed with her vocals last night? She did reach for some high notes that she could not execute well, but overall I feel she is using what's left of her voice. In my opinion, MC ruined her voice with the constant heavy belting and singing in that breathiness tone.

If it's true that Mariah has nodules on her vocals that have damaged her voice, but allow her to facilitate the whistle register, what would you rather? Mariah to get surgery and lose the whistle register, but return to an overall healthy voice, or maintain the whistle register and continue to work around the nodules? This is a purely speculative post, as I don't know that she has nodules etc, and I have no clue what's wrong with her voice. If it is true, I'd much rather she lip whistle notes for the rest of her career and sing everything in between in a healthy voice.

Well, MC made us proud Lambs. She has her voice. I loved the Til The End Of Time - Camouflage - Vision of Love - hello lovers and friends intro. Mimi is even looking like she stepped back into her Touch My Body video.

The whistle or the complete voice? (102,676)

She should invest in a qualified vocal coach, an expensive one. I don't know where she got that "nodules aid her with that register" crap, having nodules is an Achilles heel to any and every type of singer and she's no exception, and also even a medical condition that requires immediate attention and resolve. Mariah had such a lush, full, clean voice that was well rounded from low to high, even her high notes had a certain heft and clarity to them, from 1990 to 1994 is where I would say her voice thrived and was at its best. The minute she lost those qualities by the "Daydream" era, there already was a problem. This is the time she should've stepped back and cancelled or postponed shows to rest a little.

The whistle or the complete voice? (102,670)

New low?
