Let U Have Me (100,183) by Nicole from US
Someone sampled You're Mine. Let U have Me by Shift Key. Am I late in the game? Lol what a surprise though. Mimi is a genius.

Brandy (100,182) by Edward from USA
Watching Mariah working on "The Roof" with Brandy is actually amazing. They're both sitting on next to each other and Mariah is showing her how the song goes, and then they harmonize each other. So cool.

Mariah's Masterclass (100,179) by Randy from USA
As I'm watching these snippets. I'm falling in love with MC all over again. Did y'all see how the violinist couldn't keep up and dude had to be the go between MC's voice and the violinist. Her voice is an instrument. Now you know it wouldn't be me if I didn't say this. Why on earth can't we get these confident vocals on live television? Clearly she's a gifted singer. Why is she so nervous live after 30+ years of experience? It really grates my pubes.

Hi Jamie from the UK. I'm in the states so not sure if this will work but here is the YouTube link to the first video of her masterclass on her YouTube page.

Re: The Roof (When I Feel the Need) (100,175) (100,177) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
"The Roof" is one of Mariah's greatest creations and I thought it was darn near perfect. I didn't know what to expect from the 2022 version but ofcourse Mariah being the freaking genius that she is took perfection and took it to the next level. The new version is gorgeous. The original has a darker atmosphere, more melancholic to match how she was feeling. The new version is lighter, more airy like she's finally in a better place. Both versions great in their own right. The new whistle at the end of "every time" sounds so beautiful. I can't wait until this is on streaming and I hope this gets introduced to the new generation. Brandy did an amazing job backing Mariah up, they both sounds so heavenly together. Can't wait to see what other songs Mariah reimagined for TBL.

How do I watch this in the UK? I looked YouTube but can't seem to see it? Apologies I'm old school. Can anyone help?

I'm surprised on a positive way. I was a bit "afraid" (if a new version of "The Roof" is needed) because the original is one of my all time favorites from MC. But it really works fine, it has a new vibe, but not too much. I love the violin arrangement. And Brandy did great on the backgrounds. Although I thought we would hear more of her too. All thumbs up for this new version.

Re: Mariah Carey Masterclass (100,172) (100,174) by Mara from United States
Yes! I completely agree with that assessment. It does feel like a re introduction to Mariah in today's music world all leading up to her induction to the SHOF in June. She even said in the class how she feels and loves the songwriting process and being a songwriter first. I loved how she spoke about having this beautiful gift of these melodies just coming to her in her head all the time. I loved how she described that. Listening to her talk about how the songs came to her, iconic songs like Fantasy and how it came to be and then the same with The Roof. It's fascinating to listen to. Mariah's background vocals have always been a whole song on its own since day one. There are YouTube sites that strip her songs down to just the background vocals and they are so incredibly beautiful. She really is a master at what she does. After listening to her and Brandy and the reworked The Roof, I loved it and loved what she did with the strings. I wish she would do more with strings. Her voice is stunning against them. I remember during the promotion for The Art Of Letting Go there was a lot of promo with strings and then we really didn't hear anything on the album like that. I would love more of that along with guitar. Something in the line of Giving Me Life and how she broke down her vocals and basically became an instrument. She is so talented and I hope we see more of this with more songs if that is what the Butterfly re-release is and hoping for new material as well.

Agreed. And she looked beautiful. That's how a 50+ year old legend should dress.

Mariah Carey Masterclass (100,172) by 123 from USA
The first three episodes are on her YouTube page. My favorite on is how to produce using your voice. This masterclass exceeded all my expectations and is one of the best things she has ever done. Her team should use clips from this masterclass to promote her. It feels like a re-introduction of Mariah Carey to today's music audience. I can't wait for The Butterfly Room.

The Roof feat. Brandy (100,171) by Terna from Nigeria
[It's] funny how [it's] the same song but the mood has changed. The original one on "Butterfly" is sad, dark and at the same time solemn and [lamentative] but she has changed this one. Its happier, "freer" and reflective instead like she's moved on, you know that feeling of heartbreak when you revisit and reflect and acknowledge that in that moment (which is what this song captured) the pain was real. I look at the two versions as [past] and present and acknowledge and understand the need for her to remake this song now. I love this version as well and [kudos] to Brandy, she killed it in those background vocals.

I was a little nervous once I heard MC was reworking songs from Butterfly. Ok let's face it, I was terrified, lol. This is Butterfly after all. How do you come close to replicating that masterpiece? I was pleasantly surprised. I love the different vocals. Brandy and Mariah pair well together.

The Roof (100,168) by Giovanni from USA
I enjoyed the re recorded version but the only thing I'm disappointed with is that Brandy did not get any solo parts. Other than that I like it. Their voices blend together so well.

I'm shocked that you love it Randy. The more I listen to it the more I tend to go back to it and notice listen changes and the intricacies. I love the new intro and the outro is sooooo lush. I didn't think the whistles were necessary but after a few more listens I love them.

I'm glad you and some others like it. I'll support her with it, but I think Brandy could've be put to better use on it. Maybe what's on YouTube is a rough version, hopefully I change my mind.

Re: The Roof (When I Feel the Need) (100,160) (100,165) by Randy from USA
Wow. I had very low expectations. This is stunning, haunting, beautiful, nuanced and emotional. I expected a layered mess. This was deconstructed and put back together. It's a 10, and y'all know that's strange for me because I don't like anything.

The Roof (100,164) by Edward from USA
That's why I've said that classics should be left alone if they're not going to be improved upon or at least be worked on differently. I love Butterfly the way it is, it's a masterpiece. If this is the way Mariah's going to sound after resting her voice for almost three years, I'm disappointed. What was the use of having Brandy on it, she was basically relegated to background vocals, a waste of talent in my opinion.

The Roof feat Brandy (100,162) by 123 from USA
I like it. Doesn't stray away from the original much at all. The backgrounds, ad libs, and Brandy's parts sound so lush. The only thing I don't like is Mariah's new lead vocal. Sounds dry and course in some parts, just like the BER lead when she sings the first verse. I've seen clips of the masterclass and it looks cool.

Re: Mariah's next number one (100,158) (100,159) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I think too that Mariah has no bad feelings about not being credited yet. Because she was promoting it on her insta live few days back. And we all know Mariah puts people in "I don't know her" zone if she has a problem with them haha.
