Re: So much for my dream (99,986) (99,987) by Bobby A from United States
Maybe she is channeling a new Mimi just for the young people and R&B and Urban radio. I know there has to be some logic to this collaboration. JoJo said it best this week about MC. "This is how I like to look, this is how I like to sing, this is what I like to do." "And if you don't like it, I don't care." But, I understand what you are saying Randy.

So much for my dream (99,986) by Randy from USA
I really was hoping my 52 year old Mimi would settle into standards, jazz, musical numbers and her back catalogue. Now she's the feature for the 23yo rapper Latto. I will say Mariah looks sensational on the single cover. Maybe at 60 she'll stop collaborating with rappers.

Missed you too. I'm doing great and married life is going good too. Hope you've been doing ok. And oh gosh I was so furious at Latto for saying she didn't know Mariah used "Genius of Love" while also having mentioned she loves Mariah and owns all her stuff (dressing up as Mariah's Rainbow cover for Halloween) lol I was like girl how are you gonna sit here and pretend you don't know one of Mariah's biggest hits. Fantasy changed the remix culture. And I was also like why is Mariah not shading her haha now I know. Also how exciting that for the first time in years a rumour or lamb speculation of Mariah came true because I was for sure in the back of my mind thinking oh well they'll announce it and it won't be Mariah (lol like the whole A No No Cardi moment). All the clues pointed to it and even Mariah has been using Fantasy in a lot of promo like Black Irish and masterclass but we lambs have misread clues many times so I didn't think it's happening. Latto seems confident by saying this will be her first and Mariah's 20th #1 so that gives me hope there's a good promo strategy in place. I'm not expecting a #1 but a good chart positioning and some success would be great just before Mariah releases her own stuff. Also how iconic would it be if Mariah goes #1 with the same song twice haha.

Mimi L. I've missed you lady. How are you? How is the married life treating you beautiful? I'm actually excited in hearing the remix. I'm glad Mariah jumped on it even though poor Latto couldn't get her story straight as to whether she ever heard the song before or even knew of Mariah. I've been wanting Mariah to jump on other songs as a feature for a while.

Too girly? Lol! With Emotions, Music Box, Daydream, Butterfly, Rainbow, Glitter and Charmbracelet already in her catalogue? I don't like Eternally 12 either but a one word album name would be great, like the way she did in the 90s and most recently Caution. Icon, Aries, Melancholy (RnB/Disco throwback concept album) would be good names for her next album.

MTV Unplugged EP - 30th anniversary (99,979) by Horacio from United States
Certified at 4x RIAA and with 7 million copies worldwide, is this the best selling female live album of all time?

I know there are other high-profile live albums that have sold better, ie Garth Brooks Double Live with 14 million copies, but I can't find a definite list anywhere, but from what I can conclude looking at other high-selling female artists, Mariah Carey should have the record for Best Selling Live Album of All Time by a Female Artist with MTV Unplugged. Icon. Anyone have data to support this feat?

Good titles, but we all know the new album will be called "Eternally 12". I like the title "Butterfly lounge" for the anniversary edition. Sounds very relaxed. For the new album I'm for a short title. They were always the best.

"Sweet Sixteen" would be too girly. "The Woman In Me" would be more appropriate.

Re: Memoirs is an attempt at Butterfly II (99,956) (99,974) by Libra Lamb from USA
Memoirs is one of my favorite albums but I f do not listen to it as much lately. Every song was great and the entire album had an effortless flow to it. I wish we could get something like this again. I know it's kind of repetitive but I don't mind the finger snaps on almost every track. I'm anxiously awaiting news from Mariah on new music and new projects. I really hope that MC16 is a brand new studio album, in addition to the rumored re-release of the 25th anniversary of Butterfly. She really needs to promote the hell out of her new music if she wants any chance of getting more #1 hits. Something like 5 singles, remixes and remix videos, late night appearances and performances as well as morning tv interviews. It's a lot of work but our girl is not shy when it comes to putting in the work. Wishing lots and lots of blessings. On another note, I hope the Ukrainian people will defeat Russia and send their troops back home where they belong.

I would love if the Butterfly Lounge is separate from MC16. It would be cool if she has a new album called "Sweet Sixteen" of all new music, and then in September on the anniversary of Butterfly she can release the documentary of Butterfly on a streaming service with the duets she created in the lounge.

Yes to all of this. I feel like MC and Robert could make some real magic. I love his covers of Everybody Wants To Rule The World and Cherish the Day by Duran Duran and Sade. Check out his Brandy feature, I believe it's on the first Black Radio.

Yes. It's just so pretty and fluid. I miss the effortless flowiness that was a signature of her sound.

Nicky, you and I are on the same page today. I hope that you don't mind. I purchased Black Radio III this weekend. I love the album too. The Jennifer Hudson collaboration Out Of My Hands made me think of MC especially the reprise improvisation at the end of the song. I can see Robert Glasper and MC collaborating on a song. I just hope she blows our mind with whatever she is working on concerning The Butterfly album. I would be so disappointed if we get several remakes like the Close My Eyes acoustic version. Surely, she wouldn't waste Brandy's vocal talent.

Re: Fair production (99,963) (99,967) by Bobby A from United States
Nicky, you are so right. I love the song and thought too that this is something Mariah could sing and sound quite nice on. Harv wrote the song with his wife, Felisha King from former R&B group Cherish. The vocal production and melody sounds like something Cherish would have sung in the 90s. Remember Do it Do it.

Re: Memoirs is an attempt at Butterfly II (99,943) (99,965) by Nicky from Jasmine's Sofa
I get what you are saying. I have always felt that the Butterfly album was the sound and styles of music that she'd always wanted to make, from the way she hears music. So when Memoirs came out, to me it sounded like it was inspired by the music that she likes to listen to on the radio. I think there's a connection there. I feel like Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel is a polar opposite space on the other side of the Rainbow from Butterfly. On Butterfly, she was taking her first real dip into the soulful R&B sound coming from pop and contemporary. Memoirs comes as she'd been immersed in R&B for years and perfects her own sound in R&B with her precision and pop vocal training. There's a connection there. Butterfly is my all time favorite album of hers, but I rarely listen to it. I listen to Memoirs very often, but I can't even compare the two. Literally on opposite sides of the rainbow.

Mariah's sweet spot (99,964) by Nicky from Jasmine's Sofa
I've been listening to a lot of Robert Glasper lately. If you haven't heard his latest project, Black Radio III, you really should. The entire Black Radio series is great actually. The sound is a fusion of Jazz and Neo-Soul. He blends these sounds so seamlessly, it's truly stunning. I would love Mariah to make an appearance on BR4 or for them to do an entire body of works together. I wonder if Mariah was inspired by his work for Mimi's Late Nite Valentines Day Mix. I'm one of the lambs that's been asking for a jazz album from our girl for years. Ever since Charmbracelet gave us Subtle Invitation, which is a masterpiece in my opinion. However, I feel that with her 20's vocals, her experimental artistic style, and the maturity of her career, this neo-soul/jazz/dare I say even acid jazz style of music may be a great sweet spot for her to explore, feel comfortably challenged, without competition, and still be able to dip into pop, r&b, hip hop, and anywhere else when she wants. I love the way her voice sounds with live instruments. I love her lower register, her freestyle ad-libbing on the spot, the raspy and sometimes huskiness of her voice, her riffing off of a band. She would kill it in this music space, I'm getting Teena Marie improv vibes. Is The Butterfly Lounge a Neo-Soul/Jazz fusion take on the Butterfly album?

Fair production (99,963) by Nicky from Jasmine's Sofa
I'm not sure how many of your have listened to Normani's new single Fair. It's sonically so beautiful. Her vocals compliment the sound nicely. However, I couldn't help but think of how Mariah would sound on this song. Oh my goodness. The lyrics are actually really beautiful and not out of bounds of Mariah's own lyrical topics. I just imagine Mariah emoting, ad-libbing, and pouring her vocals over the tropical ocean wave-like rhythm; taking the song to a whole new level. I think Brandy would also sound amazing on Fair, her voice would take it to an entirely different place with its airiness, matching the lightness of the production. This is the type of production I want for MC16. Harv produced Fair. I love the different sounds, the dreaminess of it, the beat. To me this production style is heavily influenced by Mariah's impact on music. It doesn't sound directly influenced by her, just to be clear. Anyway, there are some exciting new producers out that create clean and beautiful music, that keeps an air of mystery which is something that I think we all cherish is Mariah's music. I also really enjoy the production work throughout Tinashe's 333 album. I would love to see some of these new producers reimagining with Mariah on The Butterfly Lounge project.
