Back then you asked why she collab'd with Kanye. Have you seen his production credits?

I mean, it's either cover it up, or have a moment that Whitney had during her ill-advised tour that should never have happened, where she tried to sing live and it just wasn't good with audience walk out - you can bet that Mariah was aware of that is using every trick she knows to mask it, and quite rightly so. Caution was a good step in the right direction where she doesn't use over the top runs that she can't replicate live, isn't using belts etc. and focuses on the strengths her current voice has such as her lower register and straight forward middle of the road vocals, and produced stellar results. When she slows down, has time to breath and doesn't have to do rapid vocal runs, her voice is good in a different way to what it was.

Your most surprised MC collaboration (101,414)

My most surprised MC collaboration is Stay the Night. When I saw Kanye West's name as the producer, I was like why did MC collaborate with Kanye West. However now, Stay the Night is one of my favorite songs on TEOM.

I do believe we all agree that we all love Mariah. To speak for myself I have grown listening to her and admiring her voice from the beginning from her first album up to the 25th anniversary of Butterfly. She has been very kind to us by still giving us a lot of material and merchandise. Some people may or may not think she owes us super fans anything but on our end, the lambily has also been kind to her, by being loyal, by purchasing her merchandise, by buying all tracks remixes or what not that she comes out up this minute. Some of us have been very kind by being protective of her and her voice for years to the point of being in denial, lipsyncing or prerecorded track or whatever. We fight for her and try to convince her naysayers that she is the best vocalist of all time, not only during Christmas but all the time. A lot of lambs even got tattoos to show devotion and love for Mariah. I had a dog I named Jack because I was crazy over her. We're just hopeful that she can still perform and shut down all the haters, even one performance, just show everyone you still got it. Sorry for the rant.

MC will probably never address the deterioration of her voice. If she did, how could she ever halfway attempt to perform live on tour or on national TV? I am predicting that whatever is coming out next year, will probably be MC's last original projects for a while. Sony Legacy will probably begin to release multiple boxsets yearly in 7 years. 2030 will mark MC's 40 years in the music business. I am ready now for some boxsets. They can only help to sustain her legacy for Roc and Roe.

As I said before, I have reconciled with the fact that her voice has deteriorated. At this point, her talking about what has happened to it would be stating the obvious. Whether it's because of her nodules or her habits, what difference would it make? I don't even care about the smoke and mirrors with the wall of back up singers and pre-recorded tracks anymore. What she shouldn't be saying is that she got her voice back when, evidenced by her latest performance, she didn't.

The best way to address would be an album, sung in a voice without any studio trickery, lamenting the loss of her voice. It would be incredibly powerful and poignant and could either be her curtain call or the beginning of a new era. You don't have to have more octaves than a grand piano and embellish every line to be a great singer. Look at Karen Carpenter. The beautiful thing about her voice was its simplicity.

I think some of the frustration with us on the unkind side of the board is the amount of effort used to cover up the deterioration of her voice. It's amazing that for someone who had one of the best voices of all time, an epic instrument could still go out on stage as if nothing happened. The ear monitors, the humidifiers, the wall of background singers, the endless advertising that she's a songwriter, the lighting, the ensembles. She is about any topic other than being a vocalist. She wrote a whole book and hardly mentioned her voice. Now a long time ago, Stacey asked me, but how would you have her address it? I don't know. But she puts a ton of energy into not addressing it. She puts a ton of excuses into why she doesn't sound good. I love MC and to hear you guys tell it, it's like I want her to be taken out back and beat with a stick. I want her to be happy and live a long life but MC, Just a thought, let's be honest.

What a great post. Thank you for this. It is quite mystifying that people over the age of nine need to hear such a simple, common sense message - especially the delusional "no, we just want Mariah to be her best self" crowd who think we don't know the difference between encouragement, nostalgia, and abuse. I agree with you 100%. Let's all do unto Mariah Carey according to what we would want our own supporters to do us - especially on public message-boards.

Thanks for the blasphemy warning, as someone who grew up in cult-Christian environment, I'll take my chances, friend. You have your spirituality, I have mine, and everyone on this board has the right to theirs. This isn't a religious or Christian board, so we don't need to go into warning about what a Jesus joke means. Apologies if I offended your beliefs personally. We don't all subscribe to one spiritual belief, entity or Christianity. With love and respect, I expect the same freedom to my beliefs in return.

I've just watched an ABC documentary about Whitney Houston. Both Brandy and Narada Micheal Walden were being interviewed and they both said that it really hurt Whitney that she could no longer sing like she wanted too. Just made me think that maybe we're a little hard on Mariah at times with her voice change. We are lucky to still have her with us and making music. I'm sure it upsets her too that she no longer has the voice she had. Just a thought. Let's be kind.

It's not that deep. Religion obviously means a lot to you Terna, but it doesn't mean that much to others. As a spiritual person, I believe in a higher being, but I don't think someone's opinion or statement is enough to worry about and get upset over. If anything, let others have their own opinions and let them worry about it when, and if, Jesus Christ comes back to judge them. You can't tell others what to think and what to say, we all have the right to believe and say whatever we want about religion or spirituality. I personally believe that religion is something that man invented to control others and profit off of their fears. Example the Catholic Church. Am I to burn at the stake too for my beliefs? I think not. I'm still a person who has good and evil inside, just like everyone else in the world. I would worry about the "blasphemy" and keep living my life focused on myself and how to improve as a human being. But, we love everyone.

It's funny you say that, Joni Mitchell had a greatest hits album called Hits, but she insisted it could only be issued if a sister album, Misses, was also released at the same time. Misses contained all her flops haha.

What about "Triumphlop"? Or Mariah's best music video of all-time "I Don't"?
I think Mariah should release a compilation album called "Greatest Flops" just for us fans.

The wise Adele once sad: "Marian should be in the Bible". While Jesus has sold more books, Marian has sold more records. I guess that's why they are friends. When it comes to Christmas, they are mutually inclusive.
