Re: #1's Record Store Day release (99,717) (99,719)

And when Robert-Anthony says he tweeted Mariah for that to happen, there's no way Mariah could have avoided listening to him. For Rob, a tweet means thousands upon thousands of tweets. When Rob wants his vinyls, Mariah'd better listen.

Sometimes it's good when Mariah doesn't listen. I'd been asking for a remake of George Michael's "One More Try", and look that what happened, I wish it had never happened. "It's a Wrap" was also a missed opportunity at creating something memorable with Mary J. Blige, but it ended up being a left over "Wrap" on the MIAM album. I think some of these duets wouldn't work, especially with Beyonce, but a duet with Janet would definitely be good. I've always wished for them to sing "Again" together, it suits Mariah's current voice.

Hey everybody. It was announced yesterday that #1's will be a part of Record Store Day on April 28th. I tweeted MC last year asking for a RSD release. She is listening to us. Tweet her.

Clarence is a white girl, not a cat. Mariah used to stay together with her in a small apartment, together with Josefin, in late 80's and early 90's. It was in a period of before a record deal and after she got signed. That's Clarissa. Confused. Hehe. Clarence is a cat.

Clarence is Mariah's cat that she had since childhood. I remember she told this on TV or radio interview in the Netherlands. While recording WYC Clarence her cat was in the studio too.

Re: Mariah featured in NYTimes article about cheating (99,706) (99,707)

Back in the mid '90s record labels were notorious for inflating sales numbers, even switching barcodes of other acts to the new release to raise it higher on sound scan. Columbia and Tommy were huge participants in this. Mariah debut twice at #1 for singles in the mid '90s so there is question of the legitimacy of these stats.

Robert-Anthony, I can't believe you haven't noticed Brian McKnight couldn't be in the studio with Mariah because Mariah didn't re-record her part of the song. They used the same vocals from her version on the Butterfly album. It was basically a cut and paste type of thing. It's so evident that I thought everybody knew.

Mariah featured in NYTimes article about cheating (99,704)

The record industry is a dirty thing. This article from 1996 is quite interesting and talks about Sony and Mariah a lot throughout. So how do we really know how much an artist has really sold?

I like the enthusiasm but we all have to remember that she made something special with Caution. Really fresh and cool. But it didn't see the light of day. Unless Mariah is going to have a Super Bowl type promo spot like Mary had, there is no point in trying to reinvent herself to be a mainstream act anymore. Think about it, Mary is everywhere on everyone's tongue but that is thanks to the Halftime show. I actually think Mariah's approach of concentrating on re-doing her old songs and focusing only on Christmas is her best bet. She can't fail there. Sure she will never be front and center in the mainstream but she will always find some success that way. Once we hear the remake of The Roof and Babydoll we won't even want for anything with the hottest new producers. We will be mesmerized by the old songs, redone.

New WBT (99,701)
by RibbonB from USA

I guess MC did a little thing with WBT recently. It sounds nice, but her voice seems strange. I wonder how a whole new, slowed down arrangement would sound. The rapid fire phrasing has always made the song difficult. Just Mimi and a cello might sound nice.

Well, I need to apologize to MC for ever holding out hope for her and Nick. How do you trivialize having kids with a bunch of women? I read that lyric and I felt like such an idiot for thinking he's a standup guy with issues. And listen two disclaimers. One, I've made mistakes in my private life. Two, I'm sure being in a relationship with MC is no picnic. But I'm not a public figure making awful raps. Yup, as with Kanye, Dababy and Trump, he keeps striving for lower.

She needs a new album full of uptempo songs. I heard Mays' album and you are right, Bongo by the way's tracks are stand outs. I love Here With Me Fest Anderson Paak. Can you image MC writing something hot over that beat. He also produced Love Will Never. Another favorite. London on the track is another wish list producer of mine. He tweeted Mariah when she released GTFO to produce her next single (she needs to take him up on the offer). He produced Failing In Love on Marys' new album which screams single with that soul sample. Is very Mary-esque. She needs to work with both of these producers asap.

Whenever You Call mysteries (99,697)
by Bobby A from United States

I did some research on Clarence singing background vocals on WYC. My research revealed that he is a reggae singer. How did a reggae singer end up singing background vocals on a Mariah Carey song? I can't hear his background vocals on WYC. Also, why wasn't Brian McKnight allowed to record his vocals in the studio with Mariah? He was very upset by not being able to be in the studio with MC and he labeled her a "little crazy" back in 1997. I wonder what went down when he was told that MC would not be in the studio when he recorded his vocals.

I want MC Fairytales (99,696)
by Nikki from usa
| |
|
|
I don't know what she'll do for an album, but I know what I want. I want Mariah to do an album where every song is based off a fairytale with her songwriter hat on full swing. I need at least one music video to be at night and feature Mariah in moonlight. Also, I want a real Mariah mermaid video. Whether she has to rock it mermaid Weeki Wachee style or CGI, I don't care. I know there's inflation and no money in music anymore, so I don't care if she has product placements in the videos to afford a good one. She could sponsor travel destinations. That's very Mariah. It doesn't matter, whatever works. Colors, Mariah. Bring on the colors.

I'm not sure how you think all that works, but Drake worked with J.Lo and her albums haven't sold since the early 2000's. Beyonce worked with Tina Turner during the height of her fame.
