Re: Isn't it ironic (98,405) (98,412) by Mirage_Nunez from America
I feel like Mariah was probably in her most vulnerable/heartbroken state (outside of the [Glitter] era) during her divorce from Nick, which made her more susceptible to someone like a Stella who would come in and give this false sense of comfort/an extended family unit. It was clear as day for most people to see that she was falling prey to someone who couldn't be trusted and it would end bad.

I feel she's now in her best most stable place mentally that she's been in years and she's really learned the lesson this time. She really seems at peace with her life now which makes me happy.

Though we can all agree that MC has had some great career blunders, we can also take comfort in the fact that she had given us so much great heartfelt, purposeful music throughout her career that could carry us a lifetime. Of course I still wish she had preserved her voice better, had the "more seasoned 90s version" of it now, and was still giving us Daydream MSG level live performances every single time she hit the stage, but I'll choose to look at the glass half full and just take it as she sung her voice and heart out giving us all she had in her. She left it all on the floor and could bow out gracefully now if she wanted and will still be regarded as one of the best to ever do it.

You're so petty, lol. But Monroe looks so lovingly at her new baby sister. I do hope they will all be cool, if not friends with one another.

Mariah grew up with two horrible siblings by her side. That's why Nick is making sure Roc and Roe are surrounded by 20 good siblings. There's nothing like a huge family full of love and baby mamas enjoying the same Cannon. After all, in polygamy there are usually 4 or 5 baby mamas popping kids as if they were pop corn and they all get along.

MC loves her children. You can see it everytime we see Roc and Monroe. Also, the Cannon siblings are going to be a mighty team 20 years from now. Nick is going to make sure of that.

If you believed in her voice 100% you likely would not state it so. "The lady doth protest too much."

She's really growing and getting her own look. She's going to be very tall it seems.

Mariah's voice (98,406) by Terna from Nigeria
I [love] this woman so I am not gonna bash her nor rehash what she could've done different then, I respect her enough to acknowledge she was young, made mistakes like we all have and did the best she could at the time. What I wanna see Mariah do now is seek professional help. Ditch the bubbly and become more disciplined and dedicated to her craft and instrument. Yes Mariah you're a songwriter but you are also a [singer] and not just a singer, but a [vocalist] of the highest caliber and one third of the vocal trinity. I [still] believe in her gift, talent and writing abilities a hundred percent.

I remember watching Barbara Walters interview Mariah I believe for the Academy Awards. It was after the success of TEOM. Mariah said something to the effect of "if someone thinks they can manipulate me again, they are dead wrong". Looks like Mariah was dead wrong. I think MC gravitates toward those who she thinks will take care of her but end up taking over her life. Tommy. Stella. Next? Hopefully after Stella she's learned her lesson. One can only hope. Isn't it ironic?

I think you all losing the point of the meaning of a Memoir, it's her recollections and her story. Obviously those people you mentioned didn't mean much to Mariah at all.

I wish she went even harder on those blood sucking vultures, they have fed stories about her since 1990, and this is Mariah finally having enough and I'm so proud of her.

I believe Mariah is just lucky. Glitter could have destroyed her, NYE could have destroyed her. Somehow she made it. Showbiz likes that kind of story.

Isn't it ironic (98,401) by T from USA
Isn't it ironic isn't just an Alanis Morissette song. It's the way I view Mariah escaping a potentially career ending, controlling situation with Tommy to only end up with Stella, who one could surmise was more controlling (keeping possession of Mariah's phone so LA Reid couldn't get ahold of her). Stella came this close to ending Mariah's career for good.

I think she mentioned Morgan because she focused a lot on her childhood and her early years in her career. Morgan had a bigger role to play in how she's shaped as an artist (she has songs alluding to these experiences) and individual and her biracial background experience, which is why it was important to mention him versus mentioning someone like Stella and James who were small bleeps in her career. Another line of thinking for me would be Stella and James they both probably have NDA with Mariah working both ways, so that is probably why she didn't mention them too. Although I would have loved to read about Mariah's current thought on one of her career ending eras which is Stella.

Holliday twine (98,397) by RibbonB from USA
That twine is cute though, but the spool is too tall. It should be like a fat ball ornament. She would gave been genius if she had designed some exclusive wrapping paper, perhaps with her own artwork. She shouldn't cheapen the season, but if she's going to do it, she should really curate a cute limited edition package.

I don't disagree with what you or anyone has said about Morgan, but it might have been better from MC to have not even mentioned it at all. She didn't mention Stella, James P and Walter got a line or two, she could have quite easily written of her troubled upbringing without writing what she did about her siblings and mother.

Honestly, we are going through a pandemic and this guy has no take aways like "the world doesn't really need my viciousness, I'm so not essential". Lots of artists have sets on Lootcrate and frankly, Mariah generally didn't cash in on her notoriety alone in her golden years. Leave her be. Though I might suggest Mariah Cookies over the baker's twine. I like twine and all but. Get the Lemon Drop and Rainbow ones.

Re: I miss Stella (98,335) (98,393) by Nikki from usa
If Anthony Burrell were honest he wouldn't have done the show. He was cool when thinking he was the leading man, but when that didn't pan out, he acted like a toddler with a tantrum. I also didn't like him encouraging MC to show her ass for the show. His suggestions were awful and she took them. After NYE his butt was fired. He tried to save face by claiming his contract had simply ended. Anthony was a diva on the show and you certainly don't change a line up prior to a huge event without getting the ok from the boss. You absolutely don't prevent them from leaving. He wasn't the problem, but he added more to them that night. The only thing I understood from all of this is Mariah still wants some dreamlover to rescue her. She doesn't take the lead. She gives the reigns to everyone around her. Mariah wants to be taken care of and that's what this boils down to. That doesn't work when you're the boss. You need to lead and take care of yourself by demanding what you need and don't hire anyone that can't meet those standards.

Re: I miss Stella (98,343) (98,392) by Nikki from usa
Ironically, that's what it was supposed to be and what Carey originally signed up for. However, Stella spent years on producing Love and Hip Hop or whatever that VH1 show is called. It's almost as bad. Once Mariah got on board it turned into Stella's World. A behind the scenes look at her creating songs and putting a tour together could've been interesting. It is originally what everyone tuned in for. It's noticeable how over 4 million people tuned in for the first episode and it dropped by half for the second.

Dude's in his 60's - he should've "made his own way" a while ago. It doesn't matter how he's depicted, he has history of violence. Mariah has a right to speak about her past. The book is about her, not about him. Unlike a tabloid, he actually has to prove it cost him deals, he can't just talk.

Re: American Idol performance (98,374) (98,390) by Nikki from usa
Yes, it was live and beyond proven. She sang the medley three times in front of fans. Three different version were put on YouTube before they were taken down from fans at the event. AI mixed and matched the performances together badly. Carey can't lip sync to save her life and the fact you can't tell means you don't ever know what's live or not.

Re: Vocal decline / elephant in the room (98,386) (98,389) by Yleg from Ukraine
On her early years, she was the voice for sure. But her vocal health (for live perf) needed a lot of rest, hence she was imprisoned to be always vocally ready. It's not being addressed but the Mariah, that Daydream era, existed only once. The rest were sprinkles of what she can do, covered with prerecorded tracks and dodging notes.

We want her to be the amazing vocalist we loved. But she refuses to deliver that, instead she say "I'm a songwriter first." She knows it, that is why she is "The Elusive Chanteuse", Mariah herself can't deliver.

Re: The elephant in the room (98,386) (98,388) by RibbonB from USA
I don't doubt her drinking has probably affected her voice. I was just laughing at your storytelling, like you were a fly on the wall in so many circumstances. All I needed was more dialog. But I also agree with others that she needed vocal training early on and may have trashed her voice early in her career. There are lots of drinkers and smokers who sang well into their older years. I can't believe you're dragging Celine Dion, the Keto queen.
