I have been killing 4th of July, 8th Grade, The Distance, One Mo Gen, FLAB, #Beautiful (regular version, hermisa version, and the Jeezy remix), and Can't Let Go. Each of those songs get played multiple times in a day.

I agree NFY is not joyful, but I love it. That's my favorite song. Although the lyrics are sad, the message is just beautiful. That Babyface assist always pulls me in too.

It's nice to sing to but I wouldn't say joyful, it's a very sad lyric, especially "I should have said I loved you, why didn't I just tell you?" That line resonates with me as I wish I had told someone I loved them before they died.

Most joyful, Never Forget You (93,673)

The most joyful song to sing has to be Never Forget You. But I usually don't listen to the album version, I listen to the extended version with an urban instrumental.

1. Teenage Fangirl 2. R U Still Here? 3. Dont H.A.T.E. Me Cos You A.I.N.T. Me 4. Belgium (Not a real country)

That is the best bit of the song, but I also extend that run to include the "no no no" build up she does in time with the best afterwards. The second best part is "I'll never leave you behiiiiii-iiiiiiiiiiiiii-iiiiaaaaeeeeiiiinnndddd".

1. No. "Mariah" is a bullshit title that has so little meaning, and what meaning it does have has been done before by so many crap artists who thought they were "really showing the inner me" (cue barfing).
2. Mariah has been making the "music she really loves" since Sony. Nobody has told her what to make. The fact that most of it hasn't sold well is telling. Nobody wants Mariah to make self-indulgent crap. They want her to make music people want to hear, in her inimitable way.
Self-referential crap title with self-indulgent crap music? Hmm, where has that been done before? Charmbracelet? Memoirs? Me I am the Unicorn?
Just no.

I can't get Vision of Love outta my mind, especially the live performance she sang at the 2005 BET special for TEOM. The "so faithfully" and Trey saying "take your time baby" before the ending gives me goosebumps everytime.

I would love her finale album to be called "Mariah" it would such a full circle moment and like you said she has earned the right to now go by one name. I think it should be also 11 tracks like her debut. And make it like the debut but the true Mariah (where she in her life after all those years and the music she really loves).

Never Forget You, or: One Sweet Day Parte the First. At least this choice of yours has a melody, a climax and a vocal that isn't three notes whispered in different combinations like your treasured PG album fillers. The best part of this song is "on and on, and on and on, foreverrr, everrr, ohhhh".

Odyssey of Sound (93,663)
by Andrew from the United Kingdom
| |
|

If Mariah makes one more self-referential album title (for instance, as suggested, "Mariah") I will stop paying her attention.
"Odyssey" in itself is a good title. I would develop it perhaps to something like "Odyssey of Sound". It's universal, it doesn't sound feminine (which alienates her male audience) and it could represent a shift in musical gear, a change in direction.
It sounds mature and sophisticated. Of course we could always have "Here I am, Mimi, the floating necklace-wearing unicorn".

The My All/Stay Awhile remix on repeat. It is very sensuous yet a tad melancholic. Goes well with the summer vibes of the last days.

Lately I can't stop playing Never Forget You. Her ad libs on the last choruses are amazing, and her voice blends perfectly with Babyface's. Very underrated song, one of the best from Music Box.

Please don't associate Mariah's album titles with this trashy series documentary, Tiger King. I know it's for fun and laughs.
