Re: Favorite non-successful song (93,532) (93,533) by Ben from Sweden
Yes. Lead The Way is my favorite. I don't listen to it particurlary much right now but didn't she write the lyrics [in] 1997? The lyrics are so poetic. Favorite non-successful song.

Without a doubt, for me it's Lead The Way. How many people outside of Mariah's fans have heard this song? Talk about a song that deserves justice. One of her best ballads, if not top 5. Of course nothing can take the place of Till The End Of Time for me. But LTW song comes close.

I like the ending when she is looking to the side crying and doing the hand dance.

Mariah's new book and new album (93,528) by Angel from USA
I can't wait for both of these projects to come out. They will both be awesome. Hopefully we get it this year. Praying. Stay safe and stay in, lambily. Prayers for this world for healing.

I loooooove "Almost Home". Especially this part:
"When you run, run so far
You've forgotten who you are
Where you're from, it's like some other universe
You count your steps, like they're regrets
You catch one breath then lose the rest
Wrong is right, right is left
And there's nowhere left to turn."

Hello Andrew, thank you for that post. We are living a nightmare but unfortunately there is no waking up to get rid off the boogeyman.

I was very impressed with the Queen's speech especially those poignant and hopeful words: "We will meet again."

As you do and I believe most on this board will have, I find solace in Mariah's work. Yesterday evening I watched Glitter again after a long time and I actually enjoyed it thoroughly.

Such strange days and weeks. I have never felt so sad and down as of lately yet I have never laughed so much either. Life is very funny that way and perhaps this terrible pandemic was brought upon us so we could rediscover the true meaning of our short time on this planet.

Re: Favourite non successful song (93,524) (93,525) by Bill from the UK
Good question, but how are we defining non-successful? For instance Love Takes Time was a number one in the US, but barely made the top 40 in the UK. But semantics aside, I would say in recent years it has been Unforgettable. I thought that song was modern and edgy, with a great subdued vocal delivery, in keeping with the mood of the song. From the olden days I'll go for The Roof. Limited release in Europe, barely dented the chart. But the lyrics, the atmosphere, the vocals, the imagery, and my gosh that video. One of the most sophisticated, elegant and moving songs from her catalogue.

What is your favourite non successful song? Mine is "Almost Home". I listen to that song all the time, think it is the best Mariah has done in the last ten years besides #Beautiful.

AYNAF is the best song on Music Box in my opinion. It took me years to realise its immense power and beauty, but it's one of the best things she's ever done.

"Anytime You Need a Friend" is such a great song, and appropriate for these trying times.

Drew, stop with the riddle, who's this stunning blue eyed blond guy you've been talking about? At least give us a little clue.

I have always said what I think. I don't think I am any different now. I would not have friends whom I message outside of this board if I was a complete dick. It's just the positive is outweighing the negative right now.

I am genuinely worried about what is happening on an existential level. False political hope of getting out of it sooner than we can? It's nonsense. I know the Americans are lagging behind Europe but are feeling it just as bad. Especially with the nonsense coming out of the American President's mouth - a person I once supported. This is all insane.

My Prime Minister is now in Intensive Care. We know that within 5 days you're either moved out of ICU or you're dead. He's not my head of state. The Queen is my head of state (God save her). But I am, as my country is, shocked.

I have genuinely turned to Mariah's music in these times, just as I have always done when bad things happen. Her voice is a constant to me. Yes, I have a Queen. An actual one. And her speech was brilliant and soothing. For "we will meet again". But Mariah will provide me with another constant that I know of.

Let's keep it positive.

I wish all of you, genuinely, long and happy lives.

Re: NHS choir - Anytime You Need A Friend (93,514) (93,517) by Bill from the UK
Haha yes, I do it for so many of her songs. The main one for me is the "reaching for a dream" intro for Make It Happen, I recite it every time the album version appears. Even when listening to Can't Let Go I add in the "if you know it sing along" line from Unplugged, and yell out "sing" (exclamation mark) after "I'll be eternally grateful" line in Vision of Love from MSG. And at the end of Dreamlover I add a "how ya doin" from the Thanksgiving special. I actually wore the tape out of my Thanksgiving video so had to get a new one. Just a great production from start to finish. Whenever I order a takeaway pizza when the delivery person rings the bell I always say "pizza everybody" like MC did when she made two pizzas for like 500 people lol.

Recently some stunning blue eyed guy suggested Mariah pay a comment forward to the NHS choir for the AYNAF tribute. Seems Mariah likes this blond stud, after all. Suggest he become her manager.

And absolutely the same to you and your loved ones in return, Brandon.

Does anyone else talk over the AYNAF intro: "This is another new song from my new album, called Anytime You Need A Friend. I just wanna dedicate it to everybody here to fight. Thank you for coming." I do it every time.

I watched AYNAF from Here Is Mariah Carey so much I can do all of her hand movements without looking. Watched it every day before school without fail. Those were the days. They were simpler times.

She was working on a new song on her anniversary so she's working on something. Personally, I think she's going to release a new single to coincide with the release of her memoir.

They sold millions of albums and singles and make a ton of money from touring and if I'm not mistaken they scored a hit on the country charts a few years ago.

The Backstreet Boys haven't done anything in years. That's probably not their house, but they wanted us to think their rich, lol.

[Webmaster: Their last album from 2019 reached no. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart.]
