Re: Hilton (93,328) (93,335) by T from USA
I agree but the magic happened between the two of them in a way Big Jim or Jimmy Jam never could. Sometimes people just connect and get each other. It's just a shame because who knows how many more classics could have been born in addition to the classic ballads she did with others (WBT, DFAU, TTR, TGIFY, Petals, You're Mine) after they broke up.

That is exactly how our leaders reacted at first and a few weeks later we are in lockdown. If possible, warn your loved ones not to take this lightly. There is no need for panic or hoarding yet brace yourselves for a considerable period of social distancing.

The Chinese culture doesn't respect basic hygiene regulations. Animals are killed in market places with blood everywhere and people passing by and simply walking through it. Combine this with the government/communist dictators that force censorship regarding any communication that will put their system in a bad light and you have a recipe for disaster. This is the third serious virus that has its origins in China in a few decades. Let's face reality: the world is over populated and nature fights back. And nature always has the last laugh.

Hang in there Todd. No one saw this coming back in December with it spreaded so fast. This is the reason why we can not eat every animal and species on this earth. The Chinese culture has such exotic food tastes. This virus came from bats and they are nasty creatures. I pray things get better for everyone.

In Australia, the government is more concerned with the economy and football than they are people's health and for the most part have buried their heads in the sand. If we were still able to travel, Scott Morrison would probably be in Hawaii.

Aretha - "When You Believe" (93,330) by Billy from Greece
I had no idea Aretha sang "When You Believe" live. Wow. Glad to know she was paying attention to Mariah's (and Whitney's in this case) work, having also sang "Hero" and "Touch My Body".

Hello Robert-Anthony. In Antwerp we are currently living under a "lockdown light", meaning we have to stay indoors as much as possible with the exception of getting groceries, a visit to a pharmacist or the bank. People are allowed to make a stroll but with a limited number of people if not more than two at once. It is a very bizarre situation especially when one lives on his own as is my case. Thank God for Netflix and my extensive dvd collection (which got scrutiny from my friends before but not any longer lol). Nobody knows how long this will last. I try to life day by day and not to overthink the situation too much. A shame I can't go to the gym to get my mind of things because at times I think I might go loopy. Bless everybody and take care.

Re: Hilton (93,302) (93,328) by Terna from Nigeria
You give Walter too much credit for that sound. That's Mariah's signature ballad sound even when she isn't the performing artist, nor have Walter playing or producing. "Through the Rain" is a very good example (had nothing to do with Walter) and more recently "The Art of Letting Go" and "Portrait". When I heard "Last Chance" by Allure I went "this sounds like a Mariah Carey song" and what do you know I was right.

We're in this together (93,327) by Bobby A from United States
How is everybody doing? I know our lives have drastically changed in one week here in the U.S. or months earlier for our MCA members in other parts of the world. Just checking on everybody. Take care of yourself and loved ones. Be strong and we will get through this pandemic. Peace, love, and blessings.

Slipping Away (93,326) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
My favourite Mariah song of all time is Always Be My Baby, but I actually think Slipping Away is the best song Mariah has ever recorded. Too bad it never hit the airwaves, it's brilliant.

Billy Mann (93,325) by Bobby A from United States
Why hasn't MC worked with Billy Mann? He is an awesome songwriter who has written hit songs for some of the biggest artists. He has worked the most with P!nk and Kelly Rowland. I just discovered one of his solo CDs. He has a beautiful voice with a falsetto tone that blew my mind. Check him out on YouTube.

Mariah Carey deserves justice for "Slipping Away" (93,324) by Dove from United States
I love this idea.

Also would love a separate two disc CD/DVD combo with the Tokyo Dome concert. They could add whatever single they're pushing on that set too. I'm sure lambs would buy both the Tokyo Dome combo plus Daydream Deluxe Anniversary Edition.

Caution (93,323) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
In my opinion is short and sweet, Mariah was able to work with co-producers who are some of today’s hit makers, but still capture Mariah’s signature sound. I believe that if she truly went for another sound that strays too far from who she is at her core people would have still found something to complain about. I am happy that Mariah can work with different artists but still remain true to who she is as an artists. Not many artists are afforded that benefit a lot of artists complain about not being able to create the music that they would like because of industry expectations, and politics. Our Mariah has been there at different times in her career so I am just glad that she has had a way to create quality work, and still be true to herself despite expectations, and politics. Hopefully with the next era she will continue on making great music that she,and her fans can appreciate, enjoy, and celebrate.

What nobody but me thinks that the You're Mine Dance mixes were MC's best in 2013 and the other songs too?

Re: Everything Fades Away (93,320) (93,321) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
What made it gel well altogether despite myriad of producers and themes is the late nocturnal vibe of it all. It sounds like midnight to the early hours of the morning, even with the upbeat tracks. Definitely not the best by Mariah's own standards, but by middle-aged artists' standards? By legends' latter discography standards? By today's music standards? It's really good. Otherwise it wouldn't have been showered with praise.

Re: Everything Fades Away (93,319) (93,320) by Bill from the UK
The irony was it wasn't even a cohesive body of work. Caution's themes and sound differed track to track. It went from "kiss off" to "kiss me" every other song, and at break neck speed. Good album though, but not great. I mean it's not Daydream's second coming, let's face it.

Re: Everything Fades Away (93,318) (93,319) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Yup. And we all know how on this board Mariah could do just about anything she wants, such as make another Infinity and Why You Mad, dress like Stella, etc. but God forbid she makes something as terrible as a cohesive body of work. We would never hear the end of it.

Re: Everything Fades Away (93,316) (93,318) by Bill from the UK
Indeed. And they would also help create a cohesive body of work.

Re: Pandemic (93,300) (93,317) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I am on board with your post except the part that says:

"Anyone who is focusing on any new projects or touring is not concerned about her wellbeing, they are only concerned about their own selfish interests and to me that is not cool."

Funny how that generalization alone somehow comes off even worse than the perceived selfishness and insensitivity it purports to criticize.

Discussing other aspects of Mariah's career doesn't automatically make one
a) unconcerned of her and her family's health and safety
b) selfish and only concerned about their interests
c) insensitive and unaware of the impact of the pandemic.

No one is downplaying or disregarding the seriousness of the situation we are currently in. We are all subjected to hourly updates on it, and with each one we become more aware, but with each one our anxiety is heightened. The WHO recommends, other than stocking up on basic necessities, also stocking up on laughter or anything that can take our mind off of things.

Shows, meetings, appointments have been and will be canceled as long as the coronavirus is around in full force. The world may have been rocked by this, but music, creativity, expression, life - these aren't canceled, for all of us, and especially not for an artist like Mariah. The discussion of her future plans is no different from us contemplating how we're gonna bounce back from this. This is a legitimate concern that is just as harmless as any regular discourse on her music on this board. We trying our best to get by doesn't keep us from planning ahead. Pray, follow the precautions, help others whenever we can, but we must not forget to lighten up. It will better for our immune system. Be well.

I agree. Same for Migrate. Have it re-released with a hot feature from Bruno Mars and the Smeezingtons.

I hate to be negative. But the production, melody and vocal is amazing and it's one of my favorite songs by MC. But the lyric doesn't make sense if [you] study it.
