Everything Fades Away (93,310) by Edward from USA
I know it hasn't occurred to anyone here, but Everything Fades Away should've been a single. We should get justice for it.

Everything Fades Away is such a good song that I spent an afternoon in January figuring out how to get it into my Spotify app.

Yes, Greek William, yes. Everything Fades Away is to pop/RnB what the Moonlight and Pathetique sonatas are to classical. It sounds like it always existed. It sounds like it should always exist. It is definitive and constant, for want of less dramatic terms. Mariah has perhaps a few masterpieces (in that they are songs that are not reasonabky possible to criticise - I'm looking at you Eddie).

Mariah's masterpieces are possibly... well, everyone may have an opinion. But a masterpiece must surely be the definition of perfection. EFA is absolutely one.

You know I hate disagreeing with people lol but the rehashed Petals that you talk of. I love getting a new Mariah album and hearing what soft introspective, pensive song she's knocked out. I skipped every song on Memoirs until I got to Languishing because it's what I wanted to hear. Portrait was obviously it for Caution and I didn't take to it. But Languishing, Petals, Close My Eyes, Looking In, they're Mariah staples and nobody does it like her. It's insane how much she can make you feel on the songs where it seems like she's not even trying. Maybe Bye Bye was it for E=MC2 although it's more of a single. I loved the song some but it has not stood the test of time well. It sounds dated - not timeless like the aforementioned. Twister was the biggest disappointment on Glitter. The song actually makes me feel anxious. Can't listen to it. But Mariah's strength lies in those melancholy ballads where she sings softly about some kind of pain. Nobody does that like her. Genuinely.

Ain't that the truth? Although I hope she doesn't catch it like Idris, or Tom Hanks. We could all do without a new pandemic disease, so more importantly let's hope we all survive. On another note, when things clear, or settle down, I bet some comedian is going to have a fire routine about this dystopian year.

Charlie Puth (93,304) by Todd from Melbourne, Australia
If any of you follow Charlie Puth on Instagram, you would have seen him singing "I Still Believe". He's probably one of my favourite male artists - so I love that he's showing love to my favourite female artist. Unless it's in fact a tribute to Brenda - in which case he can move along.

MC will be fine maybe your prayers should be directed to the more poor and vulnerable senior population.

If you bothered to read what I was replying to it was a comment that wished she stayed away from the WBT rehashes and did songs more like: Lead The Way, Without You, Never Forget You and I Don't Wanna Cry. My reply was then you need Walter for that. Pure and simple.

The 2020 with the pandemic is like a nightmare yet. It seems we'll get a shutdown tomorrow. I hope everybody is well, please take care.

Pandemic (93,300) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
This Coronavirus outbreak is very serious as the entire world is at a standstill. Personally our main goal should be staying safe at all costs. If we care about MC we should hope that she along with her loved ones are safe during this time. Anyone who is focusing on any new projects or touring is not concerned about her wellbeing, they are only concerned about their own selfish interests and to me that is not cool. Hopefully we can get back to our daily living soon, however until then everyone stay safe.

Face it Walter and MC are no longer, and will never be again. Even if they were to reconnect who is to say that their chemistry would be the same? Also he was one of the people who did not want her sound to evolve from the AC pop balladeer princess. Thank God she followed her instincts because if she had not we would not have Butterfly, TEOM, or Caution all albums that took our MC in a new direction or updated her sound. I respect their work together but I am sure if they were working together today some fans would still find something to complain about.

Unfortunately ballads of the last 15 years have either been a WBT template paint by numbers affair, or a whispery, subdued rehash of Petals. If you want another Lead the Way or I Don't Wanna Cry or Till the End of Time or Never Forget You, MC needs to switch it up.

"Lead The Way" is simply beautiful, classic and a masterpiece. Too bad many people did not hear it for they just have written off Mariah that time. Still, I must say this is one of her best ballad. It is in my top three of all time. I just wish she will write and release something quite similar to this in her upcoming album that we all hope to be this year.

Too funny. I wish Mimi would just finally do an album of American standards. We all have lots of time on our hands during this time of social distsancing.

"Your suggestion that empathy is meaningless and that I must somehow go and save victims with my un-medically trained bare hands is morally vacant. You're an idiot lol." - said Andrew, a.k.a. 'Best Human Being Ever'.

Oh. Was that a display of empathy? To virtually all of us here, it was another attempt to bring meaning to your meaningless life by picking fights where should not have been any.

And are you even thinking that was meant to be in the literal sense? And, if you did take it seriously: are you saying only the medically-trained can help?

What an idiot. I truly think that trolling this message board is the only thing that validates your pathetic existence.

Music industry (93,293) by Bobby A from United States
We are probably going to see a lot more artists like Taylor, Blake, and Ariana making statements about people limiting their activities in public places. Take care of yourself. The new music and tours should be put on hold until this pandemic goes away.

"Everything Fades Away" (93,292) by Billy from Greece
With Mariah's recent homage, I remembered what a masterpiece this song is, compositionally, melodically, vocally. I remember that when I first got "Music Box" this song really stood out in comparison to the rest of the album. At first, I thought it was a remake because to me back then it felt like it possessed a "classic" sound. The fact that there were no credits for EFA in the booklet made it all the more mysterious. Apart from some elements of the production that I think were adopted by "One Sweet Day" later, I want to draw the attention to how "Music Box" could sound if the direction of the album was geared more towards "Everything Fades Away", "Do You Think of Me" and the title track "Music Box". These are pure R&B songs and clearly the side of Mariah that would have been prioritized had she been in full control. On the other hand, it is the "Hero", "Just to Hold You Once Again" and "All I've Ever Wanted" that prevailed sound-wise. Either way, it is great that there is a new interest for "Everything Fades Away" so many years later.

"If you really care about the millions of people that are about to die (which I don't doubt most people on here actually do), please be at the front line in real life, trying to help solve the problem, and not act like your usual pompous, insufferable self on here."

I think it's I morally okay to point out that discussing the benefits to Mariah of a virus poised to kill millions. In fact, let me be pompous and say I know it is.

Your suggestion that empathy is meaningless and that I must somehow go and save victims with my un-medically trained bare hands is morally vacant. You're an idiot lol.

Was that pompous enough for you, sweetheart? And a word to the wise: if I am insufferable, don't suffer me. Ignore my posts.

Discussing the benefits of a global pandemic is just weird.

"Again, millions of people are about to die. And we are discussing the *benefits* to Mariah? Did IQ's just drop drastically since I last checked in?"

Can't the same exact thing be said to you? Millions of people are about to die, and [you're] on here policing posts and picking petty fights?

If you really care about the millions of people that are about to die (which I don't doubt most people on here actually do), please be at the front line in real life, trying to help solve the problem, and not act like your usual pompous, insufferable self on here.

First of all, the gravity of this dire situation we're in isn't lost on me or you or the other commenter you "called out" and most likely to anyone on this board, really. That's called having faith in humanity. Besides, last time I checked, we are allowed to edit the thoughts we want to express on this board according to our intentions. And for me, I figured that since we are all bombarded by the morbidity of the subject on an hourly basis on various news media anyways, why not refer to the less morbid ways that this pandemic affects us? But then again, I get that we also understand messages on this board differently, and that much about this board is about how you come across rather than how you actually feel, so I'm gonna let your mini ourburst slide. Also, IQ? Really? Stop. Just stop and be nicer. This might not be an ideal time to, according to your understanding, discuss the "benefits" of this pandemic on Mariah's career, but neither is it an excuse to give unwarranted lectures on sensitivity especially if the "need" for such is solely based on your perception and assumption of their intentions for posting their messages. Be well.

Can't we just be positive and supportive during this awful pandemic. This is only the tip of the iceberg. We need a "We Are The World" kind of attitude. So be nice to one another.
